J.D.'s Bio

I'm 5' 11" and 155 pounds on a good day. I love football, basketball, baseball, slow-pitch softball, and even a bit of hockey here and there. I'm not a big fan of the Pac 10 in any sport, as a general rule I ignore the Chiefs and Royals, and have decided to declare the Thunder as my home-town basketball team. I love God, my family, my girlfriend, KU (especially football), chicken, dark chocolate, and Demetri Martin. Someday I hope to make a living doing what I do on this site, but wouldn't mind retiring early and just watching football either.

  1. Hey JD,

Consistent? Well Sharpe is probably the most consistent player on the D-line. I was very skeptical at the beginning of the year, but he has certainly proved himself, being 2nd in the Big XII to Von Miller (Texas A&M) in sacks.

Howard is probably the most high energy guy on the team. He's a guy that'll play a hybrid of linebacker/defensive end and always seems to put pressure on the QB. He's not quite as good as Sharpe when it comes to sacks, but he's always around the QB when he throws it. He may not be as quick, but he's got enough power to push his way into the backfield.

A guy you should be watching out for is Cody Davis, Safety. He is an absolute authority piece for the Red Raider D. He is THE hardest hitter on defense as well as our best cover safety on the team. He's only a RS-Freshman so Tech gets to look forward services for the next 3 years.

  2. All of you said is very understandable, and those three players have in fact had tremendous seasons thus far. Just thought I'd make my case for Sexton though he doesn't quite have the numbers, he still is the leader of our defense. Good to hear that Cox and Lavine both make it though, both "Mr. Reliable" deserves some credit while Cox needs some needed attention away from the punt/kick return game for once.

    Best Regards,

    Curtis.

  3. Well, honestly if I had to choose out of Oklahoma States defense, I'd pick one you didn't even mention. Linebacker Andre Sexton.

Sure, Parrish Cox has developed into a shut down corner, and Patrick Lavine has been "Mr. Reliable" for four seasons, but no one has done more than Sexton.

Sexton started his career at OSU as a safety and was freshman of the year. Then he was moved to "Star" which is where he's played ever since. Sexton may not do the flashiest things, or even have the biggest numbers, but he is "Mr. Consistent", he's involved in every single play and a large portion of the time he leads the team in tackles.

Yes, Booker has been a GREAT replacement for the injured Orie Lemon, and Lucien "The Punisher" Antoine has been a great addition as well, but still, none has done more in his career then Sexton.

My top players from OSU are as followed; Sexton, Lavine, and Cox.

I hope this answered your question, and good luck to the Jayhawks for remaining seasons.

    Best Regards,
    Curtis.

  4. i agree that Crick's numbers are great. But I think McCoy is more of a "true" defensive tackle opening things up for the line-backing corps.

I wouldn't be against Crick being on the list, in fact I think he is more than deserving, but I think that a lot of people will look past his numbers and ignore them until next year. Really, three of the four D-Linemen could be All-Big 12 picks, but won't be.

Asante Doesn't have great numbers but the dude has locked down the back side of the defense. It's hard to throw into the cover 2 gap with him back there, and his speed and run tackling ability is above average. If he could hold onto a ball he would have at least four interceptions this season. He had, I believe, eight tackles before leaving the game with a possible concussion on Saturday. And the medical staff had to hide his helmet from him to keep him from going back in... that is beast mode.

i look forward to the list though, and think Suh and Crick deserve it, but the "powers that be" will not put him on the first team list simply because of his lack of name and that Suh plays next to him.

  5. Hey man, thanks for the questions, here are my answers.

Prince is a good lock down corner, O'Hanlon had a great game, but is at best a third team all big 12 selection. Prince could be the best corner in the Big 12 next season, and may be this season, but he is relatively unknown. I would say second team all Big 12 for sure, but i can't think of anyone to put ahead of him at that position. Crick is really good. Although his numbers are a bit skewed due to Suh. However, I think you will see that next year he will be an all-big 12 first eam DT. Right now Gerald McCoy is hands down better than Crick. Right now I think my All-Big 12 defensive players from Nebraska would look like this:

    Ndamukong Suh
Prince Amukamara (although he probably won't because of being relatively unknown till this year)
    and maybe Pierre Allen

Mostly I think this defense works great as a unit, only one star. Although some others to think about, Larry Asante, Phillip Dillard and Alfonzo Dennard

  10. Hey J.D., no problem on the edits. You can add the Big 12 Football tag after publishing from the live article page. Just click "Edit This Article" on the right side of the page and scroll down below the article text box. Where it says "On which pages do you want your article to go?" you can type in Big 12 Football or any other terms you want to bring up tags. Not sure if it's totally necessary to do, but now you know!

  11. While I usually don't promote articles, I saw fit to promote this one. I feel people are not paying attention to what this article is about. They probably should. No matter if you are a fan of Florida or LSU, this is something you need to remember going into tomorrow night.
