asha's Bio

I’ve been playing tennis since the age of seven. Got burnt out during the last phase of my junior tennis playing years and in fact got sick of playing tennis. I never got sick of watching it, though. I loved watching Sampras play . . . one of the most memorable matches for me was when he beat Corretja in the 1996 U.S. Open quarterfinals. My obsession with tennis truly began with Roger Federer in 2005. There is nothing more say . . . the rest of you Federer fans understand me! Federer inspires you to watch and get out on the court!

What else about me:

I love Oasis and Third Eye Blind!

Vegan since Nov. 2002

BA in History and Masters in Education/history

Traveled to 18 countries: Austria, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, Syria, Turkey, and the United Kingdom

Going to India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Tibet(China) this summer. More worried about catching Federer in action during the French Open and Wimbledon while traveling than exploring Pakistan!

My profile picture is from my late summer Euro trip last year. I'm on court Philippe Chatrier with red clay rubbed on my Fed hat for good luck for the 2009 French Open. I can dream, right!

  3. Hi Asha,
I am your 7th fan now. It feels lucky.
    Very fascinating bio.

The US Open Draw was released earlier today. I've analyzed the Men's draw, in addition to the Top Ten players' form and recent performance, and made some projection in an unconventional way.
Check it out. I am sure you'll like it.
    Thank you so much,

  5. Btw I saw him up close practicing at Wimbledon this year, totally made my day/week/month/year!!! Wanna get my hands on one of those RF hats you are wearing in your profile pic now!

  6. Oh yeah indeed! Wow, what a coupla months it has been for Roger :-) Did you manage to catch any of the tennis?

Hope you are enjoying the travels - whereabouts are you now?!

  7. Hey asha! How are you? Since the last time we talked Roggie has won the FO - oh yeah! Slam no.14 and career slam!!!! You must be as happy as me :-)

  8. Actually now I'm not sure...maybe he is. Cos when I first joined the fan page it was different and there weren't any status updates like there are now (with "Roger" - if it is him - letting fans know what he is thinking/doing).So perhaps he took it over?!?! Oooo - exciting!! I take it you became a fan?! Hope you are doing well :)

  9. Yeah saw that...but I became a fan of him on FB a long time ago...so dunno who controls that account hmmm...maybe same ppl who sort out his webpage (?Mirka lol?)

  10. TELL ME ABOUT IT!!! Was on the edge of my seat the whole time...so nervous...can't imagine how he felt. Esp at the end when it went to deuce when he was serving for the match - omg - if he had let Rafa back in at that point I felt it would have been game over so THANK GOD he didn't!!!!! I'm just hoping he is well and truly BACK. He needs the confidence going into the FO...am praying he has a shot at it this year!!!!!!!!!!

  11. I know...............YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I am ECSTATIC. The guy did it - straight sets - Nadal - clay - Spain - and he DID IT!!!

  12. Yeah...great interview huh? That's the good old British BBC for you!! Totally agree to that being a fab quote...damn there is no-one quite like the Feddy. Glad the interview made you feel better. It cheered me up too so I thought I would share. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE him to win RG...let's keep the faith :)

  13. You listened to this link? Is Roggie talking about Roggie stuff...like his chance at the French. Made me feel a bit better listening to him rationalise...just hope he is not in denial. Oh, and I just love to hear him talk...his accent is so cute :)
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/8030695.stm

  14. TELL ME ABOUT IT!!! I was going for Nole today too, but noone can beat rafa on clay...he is just too crazy good on it.

And what the hell is happening with Roger? I found that loss hard to take...worse than MC and Miami. Imploding in the 2nd/3rd set seems to be becoming a far too familiar pattern for him. I dont see him even making the finals in RG at this rate tbh. Not if he cant beat any of the top 4 anymore. It sucks. He better get himself together...he's still the only one who I love to watch. His tennis is exquisite when he is not having mental issues.

He woulda been thrashed by Rafa today...at least Nole put up a good fight.

  15. Sorry asha, I have no idea. Youtube probably has some clips but not so great if you wanna watch the whole match. Maybe you could ask Long John or Rob, they seem like people who might know? You could just google it and see if anything comes up? Hope you find it. You gonna be watching Roger vs Nole today - I can't wait but I am nervous for our man...Nole is playing well on the clay!
