Francisco E. 's Bio

A three-sport letter-winner in high school, sports have always had an impact on my emotions (as millions, I'm sure, can relate to). I've always found writing therapeutic. So, writing about sport fits my bill.

I am a graduate of Michigan State University's Journalism School. My intent is to serve you all as a fan who trains in writing and thus practices journalism.

I have served in numerous positions. I was a national news editor and layout director for Purpose Magazine. I moved on to online storytelling as an Arts and Culture writer for The Big Green Online Magazine. But beyond my recent post as the communications assistant and desktop publisher for the Michigan State University Spartan Fund, I also contribute as an editor here for all you "Bleacher Creatures."

I love all the major professional and collegiate sports. But I especially love the fact that sports bring people together. I really relish the opportunities to join my family on ocassion to watch the next Puerto Rican boxer rise to fame. I also love to join my fraternity brothers outside Spartan Stadium whenever there is a planned tailgate (Ditto for the Final Fours). Lastly, I love the fact that WHEN the Cubs go to the world Series, I will be joined, not only by 20 of my immediate family members, but also by millions of brothers and sisters armed with the same blue hat.

I'm truly just a fan. I bleed Cubbie blue and have an engrained 'C' on my forehead. I live to see the Cubs win a World Series for my forefathers who've fallen without purchasing a memorial Cubs' World Series shirt or other particular paraphanelia. I'm very opinionated but have the ability to be objective.

Hey, I'm a journalist. Most of all, I'm a fan.

  6. I want to list you as a favorite but I don't remember how this was done. After scanning everything I can find, I can't find the way to do this. Let me know how and that's what I'll do. My last article, if I can finish it in time to be published before the season begins, will mention MSU.

  7. Please read in my bio what I am sending to all who I thank as listing me as a fan.

I lived in Chicago from 1953 (except for my time at the U of AL) to 1969. When I moved there, I was going to be a fan of both the Sox and Cubs but was immediately told that wasn't done. My dad became a Sox fan while working there during the depression and they were winning more often than the Cubs, so I chose the Sox. But after leaving Chicago, I became fans of both and should both be in a subway world series, I'd probably pull for the Cubs, for I feel for their long drought of not winning the World Series. I know it will never happen but I wish Cub and Sox fans would pull for each other, except when they are playing each other.

  8. I am so annoyed by the Chicago Media over reacting to one preseason game
