Uncle's Bio

Uncle Popov is retired from Bleacher Report. He will not longer write exclusively for the Bleacher Report. He has decided to focus more time on his family and finishing up his dissertation!

He will continue to write at his personal website http://unclepopov.wordpress.com. Check it out if you have time. He will occasionally bring over pieces from that site to B/R.

Uncle Popov has enjoyed writing here. He was surprised by the initial reaction (and the number of reads) to his first piece The White Devil in Basketball, as well as the number of reads for pieces on Ricky Rubio, Alexander Ovechkin, and Brett Favre. But it has never been about the numbers (of reads) but simply having an outlet to express his opinions on sports. However, when time to focus on what is most important (family and work/school...in that order), Uncle Popov felt he should trim the fat (B/R) because he still has his personal website for sports ranting.

Big ups goes to Max Tcheyan for "recruiting" the Uncle and extending the invitation.

Thanks also goes to all the editors, but especially Mosang Miles. Uncle Popov believes that Mosang is the best editor on B/R.

A big thanks goes to the 33 people who thought enough of Popov's writing that they became fans. He sincerely appreciates it.

Lastly, thanks to anyone, even dissenters, who took that time to read the pieces written by Uncle Popov. It means a lot.

UP is now off to drink some Polish vodka!
