About The SportsLifer
Hello. Welcome to the toy department. My name is Rick Bause, a public relations manager for a world-renowned technology company dedicated to making the world a smarter planet…and a guy whose head is filled with nearly 30 years of sports column ideas. The SportsLifer is my creative outlet for those ideas.
The SportsLifer is dedicated to the fan that lives within us all. Scene and Heard was the name of my sports column in the Fitchburg Sentinel and Leominster Enterprise (Massachusetts) running five times a week through much of the 70s. Similar to the Fitchburg chronicles — and to similar musings at the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel — I will attempt to interwine the threads of sports and life in this blog, with a distinct New York accent. (What, you got a problem with that.)
Sports is the tie that binds generations. From father to son and daughter, brother to brother, sister to sister, family to family, friend to friend. There is a fabric that weaves through all of us who follow sports in America.
Here’s hoping you enjoy The SportsLifer’s perspective on the world of sports.
Love it Rick. This is you at your best. What do you think of Herschel Walker as an extreme fighter at 49?
Hey Rick,
I'd be grateful if you could check out my NFL playoff scenarios minute-by-minute story if you get a chance.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ash

Hey Lifer,
Mark McGwire is back with the Cardinals as a hitting instructor, but there's one thing he needs to do before he can be welcomed back to baseball... talk.
If you have time, please check out my column. Thanks!
