About Andrew »

I'm a sports fan getting back into writing after spending a few years working on my Master's degree. I'll write about MLB, the NFL, NBA and college basketball primarily, but I'll dip into other topics as well.

The Shortlist »

  • Favorite Athletes

Don Mattingly, John Elway, David Robinson, Derek Jeter, Tim Duncan, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Greg Maddux, Jackie Robinson

  • Favorite Sports Teams

NY Yankees, Denver Broncos, UConn Huskies

  • Favorite Coaches

    Joe Torre

  • All Time Sports Moment

John Elway's famous 8-yard "helicopter" run against Green Bay in Super Bowl 32. At that moment, I knew the Broncos would win the game, no matter what.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

I was at Reggie Jackson Day at Yankee Stadium back in 1993. I don't remember the game, but I do remember everyone getting special edition Reggie Bars that day, and I remember the ceremony when the Yankees revealed Reggie's plaque that would go out in Monument Park.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

    Cy Young's 511 wins.

  • Ruth or Mays?

Ruth could pitch, Mays couldn't. Ruth carried baseball back from the Black Sox scandal. Mays played in the shadow of Mantle, to some extent.

  • Unitas or Montana?

Put Elway in San Francisco in the 1980s, and there's no debate between Unitas and Montana.

  • Jordan or Russell?

Jordan was more polished offensively, more complete.

  • Gretzky or Orr?

    Super Mario.

  • Pele or Maradona?

Really? Maradona's claim to fame was the Hand of God. Pele was only the world ambassador to soccer for much of his life. Pele.

  • Federer or Sampras?

Agassi. He won Grand Slams on the grass, hard court, and clay. Federer and Sampras haven't done that. Nadal is making this debate moot soon, though.

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

    Tiger.

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

    I don't dig racing.

  • Schumacher or Senna?

    See above.

  • Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

Big East Hoops. SEC football. PAC 10 baseball.

I haven't pimped an article in awhile, but the silence is deafening, so here I go again.

I think that the Strasburg negotiations warrant a look at something that MLB should have adopted a long time ago. I'd like to know if you agree.

The new Yankee Stadium had been criticized for its lack of intensity and electricity in the early months of the season, but this weekend’s series against the Red Sox finally make a familiar place seem like HOME.

Thanks in advance, and I would look to hear your opinions and feedback. Take care.

Yankee fans rooting for the Red Sox? Has hell frozen over, or is there a rational thought process at the root of it all. Read why it is ok for you to root for Boston on select occasions without feeling like Benedict Arnold.

Cody Ransom has become a running joke in Yankee communities across the US in chat rooms, Twitter, blogs, message boards, etc.

His “bromance” with manager Joe Girardi has emphasized this fan disdain, and I have created a Top 10 list of unknown Ransom “facts” in this banter’s honor.

Thanks in advance! I hope you enjoy it, and I would love to hear your feedback.

There has always been a connection between religion and sports, and Major League Baseball has certainly not been the exception to the rule.

Check out the All-Catholic lineup…the best Catholic names (by position) in MLB history.

A-Rod’s 2009 salary is $33 million. What is the best team (9 hitter lineup with DH, 5 SPs, 1 RP, and a CL) you could create using only his salary as a budget, and no more than 5 players allowed to be making less than $1 million? You would be surprised…

This is my best friend in the world. Plus he can write a mean article. Check him out. If you say something nice, I'm sure he will mention you on his weekly sports talk show here in Vegas and worldwide on the www. He is paying me to do this.
