About Dave »

A native of Memphis, TN, I currently reside in beautiful Bellingham, WA. I've always harbored an affinity for the West Coast, and once the stars alligned, I moved here on a whim in 2005. I write for a music magazine up here, but with the advent of March Madness, I felt compelled to commence writing about my OTHER passion, sports; hence my appearance here.
In addition to writing about music, I also play it. I'm a veteran of several bands up here in the Northwest and Memphis as well.
Although I love to write, I find it hard to write about myself in one all-encompassing blurb, so henceforth, I'll let my articles do the talking.
Take care!

The Shortlist »

  • Favorite Athletes

    Lawrence Taylor and Walter Payton

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Memphis Tigers, Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks

  • Favorite Coaches

John Calipari, Jeff Fisher, Phil Jackson and Bill Parcells

  • All Time Sports Moment

    The Music City Miracle

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

    November 9, 1996. Memphis football de-throning the Peyton Manning-led UT Vols, 21-17.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

UCLA basketball's national title run in the late 60's/early 70's. Seven straight and ten of twelve is insane.

  • Ruth or Mays?

    Mays, given his stiffer competition.

  • Unitas or Montana?

Montana, only because of his title count.

  • Jordan or Russell?

Jordan. Multiple titles on both counts, but the former's numbers are better, rebounds notwithstanding.

  • Gretzky or Orr?

Gretzky. His 215 pts in 1985-86 were a close second to my "most unbreakable record" answer.

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele...gotta look at what he did for the sport in general, ala Michael Jordan.

  • Federer or Sampras?

    Sampras, so far.

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

Nicklaus, but Tiger's on pace to break his records.

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

Petty--his videogame-esque numbers are hard to match.

  • Schumacher or Senna?

    Schumacher.

  • Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

ACC for basketball and SEC for football.

Dave, you were talking about doing a satire on the Titans, which got me thinking how ripe they are for this kind of thing. I wasn't trying to steal your thunder, but I needed to get this out.
