Growing up in the Midwest, you would think I'd follow the local sports teams and sports interests. This is not the case. I started rooting for the Dallas Cowboys at the tender age of six because I loved the name and the star on the helmet. When I learned to read I went to the library and got books on the Cowboys' players, then football in general. From then on, about 50% of the books I read were on sports. I follow sports today with a youthful zeal but also mix in politics, finance, history, current events, etc. However, it all comes back to sports. I used to coach for several years but stopped when I moved to Indiana. I plan on getting getting back into it someday. For now, I am happy to talk and argue and debate.
While I love the teams and sports I follow, I will discuss any topic or team or sport. I am a sports fan and try to read up on every team, every event. I can say I am not a big fan of ESPN. To me, that network and all of its branches waters down sports. Too many dunks and highlights for my tastes. They try to make themselves the focus instead of the games and events they are covering. Please drop me a line or send me an invite to your next sports conversation, or any conversation for that matter.
