About Joe »

I'm a Philadelphia Eagles fan. I live on the Central Coast of California where I grew up, and I'm finishing up my MA here at Cal Poly SLO. I love responding to people's articles. I'm a basketball nut, but there's nothing in the world I love more than talking football. Forgive me if I don't write many articles. I probably write more interesting responses than articles. Nobdody knows the game where live except for most of my friends, and I already know what they have to say about most of these topics. I just appreciate being able to go somewhere where I can talk sports with people that pay attention to what's going on.

I played sports most of my life. I have alot of friends that I played HS & college ball with that made it to the next level, so I feel like that might've been in my future as well. Unfortunately, my playing career was shut down by a major car accident. I've been coaching ever since. I've coached a Semi Pro team for 7 years, and when I'm done with school I plan to someday work my way through the collegiate ranks and into the NFL.

The Shortlist »

  • Favorite Athletes

Brian Dawkins and Brandon Roy, Randall Cunningham, Tony Dorsett, Charles Barkley, and Jamal Mashburn

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Philadelphia Eagles, Portland Trailblazers, Hawaii Warriors, and all Pac-10 teams

  • Favorite Coaches

Jim Johnson - I love the way he's not afraid to engage so many guys and still be able to have the offense's initial threats taken away. Dick LeBeau - I can't lie. I run a 3-4, and I steal some of your overload blitzes. I'm utterly impressed with the way he breaks down protections. Pete Carroll - I love the way he coaches, and I try to mirror his enthusiam.

  • All Time Sports Moment

The NY Giants beating the unstoppable Patriots in the Super Bowl. Sorry Eagle fans, but seeing the G-Men win THAT GAME made me happy. I just hated that Patriot's team THAT MUCH.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Cal Poly came back from a 30pt halftime deficit against UC Davis. I was only in Jr HS, but that was the most exiting game I've ever attended.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

I don't know. I'm sure there's some badminton, Iditarod, or High Stakes Poker record that nobody will EVER care enough to break.

  • Ruth or Mays?

Ruth. Baseball players weren't trained like they are today. He just dominated a bunch of good ole boyz.

  • Unitas or Montana?

Montana. Nobody that's ever played football has ever had the "It Factor" like Montana. I hated him when I was little, but when I look back now I can appreciate his contributions to the NFL.

  • Jordan or Russell?

Jordan was the greatest basketball player that ever lived, but Russell was the Lord of the Rings.........so I don't know

  • Gretzky or Orr?

Gretzky. I grew up watching Kings games on Prime Ticket. The Great One made everybody better.

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele. I don't know much about soccer, but if Pele's not the greatest then why doesn't the saying go,"hey, kick it over here Maradona?!!"

  • Federer or Sampras?

I'll go with Sampras. Federer can wait till he's done for the comparison.

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

Tiger. It impressed me how he's played hurt.

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

    Uhhhh, I don't like Nascar.

  • Schumacher or Senna?

I don't even know what sport this is...

  • Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

PAC 10. Why even bother listing the rest of those?
