Greetings Everyone !!!

As you can tell from my birthday, I'm a bit of an old timer but I've been a basketball fan ever since I can remember and have been a Duke fan going back to Johnny Dawkins ... and as all college basketball aficionados I've experienced the highs and lows of each and every season since !!! I am not a HOMER and on those occasions where Duke has been eliminated, I have ardently rooted for the other ACC teams left ... even if it is UNC, because I earnestly believe that rivals do not have to be enemies !!!

I rail against anyone who uses the word "HATE" to describe their feelings for another team, player, or conference because sports are supposed to enhance our lives, not become a way of life !!!

I also am not fond of HOMERS who are myopic in their view of the program they support because that is not realistic, nor faire to anyone else competing in the same arena !!!

I believe that Coach K has already distinguished himself among the greats of the college game and that includes the likes of Dean Smith, "The General" , Louie Carnesecca, Roy Williams, & Tom Izzo !!! I also am a fan of PJ Carlesimo & Rick Majerus ... two (2) men, I believe, set themselves apart by their dedication to innovation and professionalism !!!

I am also a fervent fan of Dickie V, and believe he has done more to promote college basketball from what I knew as a kid !!! The fact that he is a Duke fan and sent his daughters there is just icing in the cake !!!

Each year for the last 25+ years I have run a "Bragging Rights" pool unlike any pool you have every experienced ... it is extremely difficult to win and to prove it, no one has ever won it back-to-back ... and I've only won my own pool three (3) of those years !!! Each year the winner has won "bragging rights" and something from Dickie V's collection because of his tireless support for the Jimmy V Foundation !!!

Just seen that you posted a note on my board - though you're not one of the major tennis crowd!
So I was intrigued about what you found interesting in my profile?
You might be more interested to know that my husband used to be a basketball player in his youth (well England under 20s and then national league for a good many years so, though I don't follow it now I've watched a good many hours.....
He's now into cricket and rugby, while I've stayed true to tennis since early teens. Faithful to the end, you see, and deriving such pleasure from where the men's game is at....wonderful time to be a tennis fan.

Thanks for the welcome note Bermuda. Yes, I am a Fairleigh Ridiculous Grad. : ) Class of 98. I do like Seton Hall and I like Duke as well. My boss who is the owner of my company is a Duke grad from way back. He is very good friends with Bucky Waters who was a former Duke coach and AD. He has a picture of him and Coach K in his office.

Nice to meet you to Bob. I just thought you would get a kick out of the Leroy joke. I've seen that you have got at him some just like I have. he's a piece of work he will be the first one to pop some shit and then if you say as much as a word back to him he breaks out this " your so unmature, you need to grow up, yada yada yada BS."

He got so mad at me because I've been saying that Memphis was the most overrated team in the country and never play anyone. they played 4 games against top 25 teams all season and dropped 3 of them and one of those was against Georgetown and they sucked.

I tried to tell him they were pretenders not contenders and would never make it past the sweet 16. But of course he told me that he was an "objective" fan as anyone and still picked Memphis to win it all. What a joke! I just can't stand people who can run their mouth and cry foul the minute you say anything back to them.

Maybe we better lay off him for a minute I think he is really thinking about hanging it up. I can't wait till next year when the pussycats go 12-20 and reality hits him in the face. I'll talk to you later Bob.

Breaking news Bob! I just saw Leroy heading out of Home Depo with 10 feet of rope and he asked me if I knew how to tie a noose. I talked him down and told him he can always become a Kentucky fan.

I also just heard on ESPN that Memphis is offically adding the words "toothless" to their name and will be the Memphis toothless Tigers starting in 2009.
