David P. Funk is a freelance sports journalist from Northwest Indiana, just outside Chicago. His work has been in several publications including The Northwest Indiana and Illinois Times (www.nwi.com) and the Purdue Calumet Chronicle (pucchronicle.com). He was the winner of the prestigious Stark Tinkham award in journalism in 2007 for a story about the growing popularity and influence of religious organizations of college campuses.
