BLEACHER REPORT TO PUBLISH PHILADELPHIA SPORTS EDITION FOR PHILLY.COM
Co-branded local edition will feature original opinion and analysis from Bleacher Report's community of writers
San Francisco, CA and Philadelphia, PA (July 1, 2010) – Bleacher Report (http://www.bleacherreport.com), the leading digital publisher of original and entertaining sports editorial content, will create a co-branded local Philadelphia edition for Philly.com (http://www.philly.com), it was announced today by Dave Nemetz, co-founder and VP of Business Development at Bleacher Report.
Philly.com, the Philadelphia region’s leading source for online news with over 84 million page views per month, is owned by Philadelphia Newspapers, LLC, publisher of The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News, located in the country’s fourth largest media market.
Bleacher Report content from its national network of locally-focused Featured Columnists will be integrated into and highlighted on philly.com sports (http://philly.com/sports). Traffic on philly.com sports has increased 42% in the past year and represents 40% of all the traffic on philly.com.
Bleacher Report’s co-branded local edition provides philly.com and local advertisers additional opportunities to reach a highly engaged, targeted audience in a city obsessed with its many sports teams, such as the Phillies, Flyers and ‘76ers.
In addition to philly.com, Bleacher Report’s local media partner network includes the Los Angeles Times and Hearst Newspapers' four largest markets: San Francisco Chronicle's SFGate.com, Houston Chronicle's Chron.com, San Antonio Express-News' MySanAntonio.com and SeattlePI.com. Bleacher Report also has syndication partnerships with CBSSports.com, USAToday.com, Telegraph.co.uk, and NHL.com.
Bleacher Report’s editorial team identifies the most outstanding contributors from the blogosphere, the journalism world, radio and television, and college programs to become Featured Columnists. Featured Columnists are Bleacher Report’s premiere contributors, passionate sports experts each focusing on creating entertaining coverage for a specific sport, team, or event.
”Philadelphia is a rabid sports market that will be a perfect fit for our local media network,” said Dave Nemetz, VP Business Development at Bleacher Report. “We’re looking forward to strengthening the overall content offering for Philly.com while at the same time improving their engagement and time on site, and ultimately increasing revenue.”
”Philly.com was looking for a way to provide our audience with more content about teams they love and to differentiate our product in the local marketplace,” said Yoni Greenbaum, Vice President of Product Development at Philly.com. “The Bleacher Report co-branded product helps us achieve both goals, and their data-driven approach to content programming is a great match for our editorial strategy.”
