Recently (Nov 10 2009) I have been given the honour of being a featured columnist on the Toronto Maple Leafs by the BR family, cheers! Still love to write on NBA NFL MLB and other NHL teams.
Sports is real...It's not the Jerry Springer show...Sports is real...It is not propaganda cooked up by the government...Sports is real! It’s athletes striving to be the best at what they do. So much of life is a farce. Sports is real...Whether it’s an NFL LB smashing a RB head on, that hit happened...Sports is real... Whether it’s Rick Nash dangling around 3 or 4 players and burying the puck for an unbelievable goal...It happened...Sports is real. You get the idea...Sports is real...and it’s really happening. I love Sports!

Writer bio
Now a Bleacher Report Featured Columnist for the Toronto Maple Leafs, I look forward to having the opportunity of writing about my favourite team each and every week. While finishing my degree at the University of Toronto, I spend most of my time reading, writing about and watching a variety of sports. As most of us can say, I am certainly addicted, and if I'm not busy watching hockey or spending an entire Sunday keeping up with as many football games as possible I'm... Well, actually that's pretty much all I do.
Like Mark Twain once said: "I never let schooling interfere with my education."
Couldn't have said it any better myself.
The greatest thing about sports is no matter who is playing or what is at stake, something incredible can occur at any time, and that'...

While I love all the other sports - football, baseball (former collegiate player) and basketball (also a former collegiate player, albeit only to the JV level) - I am OBSESSED with hockey!
While I pride myself on objective reporting, it doesn't mean it comes without a struggle, seeing as how much I love the CBJ.
What motivates my writing is to tell a story - one the mainstream media refuses to do, with their O-6 and all things Canadian team biases - about one of the truly great stories in the NHL, the rising to power of the CBJ.

I'm a 25 year old male out of Columbus, OH, where I still continue to live (sort of). I've always enjoyed writing, and I've always enjoyed sports, though I never even thought of combining the two until I stumbled on Bleacher Report in November, 2009. Hockey is by far my sport of choice, though I also enjoy football and even some tennis.
I work full-time for a high-end clothing store by day, and then balance watching sports and keeping the wife happy by night. Up to two nights a week, I also tend goal for a couple of local beer league roller hockey teams.

10/08/09: "Coyote Wild In Phoenix: A Phoenix Coyote Preview" appeared on CBS Sports (under the NHL Section)
Athletic History: Ever since I was little I was either kicking a soccer ball, swimming in the ocean, chasing seagulls (would have totally got a Gold Medal in the Olympics for that when I was 4 years old) or playing basketball. My sophomore year of high school I started playing tennis after watching Pete Sampras's retirement ceremony at the US Open. I wanted to be just like Sampras, kinda didn't work as well as I thought it would. In 2006 I got the honor of visiting the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and it left me dribbling.

An Oiler fan since my elementary school days when I flipped on the T.V. and watched Hockey Night In Canada, writing was my second love which I developed in high school as the editor-in-chief of my school newspaper. Eventually the two hobbies were married online when I started blogging at Strange Deadfellows Oilerblog. A little over a year later, I find myself writing with The Gateway, the Bleacher Report, and An Oilers Refinery.
Let's hope things only get more interesting from here.

A Passionate Fan's Perspective of all the Vancouver Canucks (NHL) hockey games, personnel, trades, benchings, who's scoring, why not, who should be benched, systems, cap space, the playoff race, etc.
I just started writing last year, so bear with me and thanks for taking the time to read my articles, and now some background.
I never played at the Junior, Pro or Semi-Pro level or coached at any of those either. What I am is a "Good Canadian Kid", who grew up with skates on his feet at 7. I learned to skate on the pond behind the farm outside of Calgary (Alberta), near Airdrie, and played on outdoor rinks in little towns like Empress, Bindloss, Airdrie, and many others that I have just plain forgotten.
These were places where we could skate and play for hours. No won...

Originally lured over to the sunshine state from Sweden by the alluring Floridian wife that is mine, I soon found it was easy enough to call these beaches of swirling sunbeams and warm winters - home.
Since I am a lifelong - slightly obsessive - sports fan, it felt natural to start looking for a local sport to follow upon arrival. Due to soccer being a minor sport here, and no decent local teams exist, the options were a bit limited for someone not born and bred on American pastimes such as football or baseball. Of the big four sports here in the U.S.A. only hockey was ever a viable option for me, but, luckily enough a local team of prominence did exist – the Florida Panthers.
Being a Swede I had been exposed to hockey from an early age and as the country itself I always held th...

Warren has always had a great love for sports, particularly hockey. As a young man he played on hockey teams in Detroit, Michigan. Going to high school across from Olympia Stadium he had the opportunity to

Shaw majored in Public Administration and became a staff writer for the college newspaper. After graduating Warren went to work for Ford Motor Company and wrote freelance sports

As you may notice, my Bio has recently gotten an overhaul, just as I am trying to do with my topics covered. I am currently trying to convert into an NHL-focused writer, mainly based for the Hurricanes. If this works out and I don't completely kill myself with it, you can expect diminishing contributions from me in the MLB, College Fooball, and NFL communities.

Growing up in a suburb of San Francisco during the ‘80s, it wasn’t hard falling head over heals for the local sports teams. The Bay Area squads were at their pinnacle and it seemed like the products they were putting on the field were immaculate. And at times they were.
Having parents that were not die-hard sports fans didn’t really help my progress in learning the ins and outs of sports, but it didn’t hurt that my next-door neighbor was Fred Quillan, the center for the San Francisco 49ers at the time. Seeing him leave for games and practices was surreal, almost like watching a warrior right before he heads off to battle. It made me want to learn everything sports related. And the sport really didn’t matter, Football, Baseball, Tennis, whatever.
I have followed the 49ers an...

I am an 18 year old who lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I love writing about hockey especially about my favorite team the Phoenix Coyotes. I have been a fan of the Phoenix Coyotes ever since they left Winnipeg and I don't plan on jumping ship as long a their still is a team in Phoenix (which might not be for very long).
I also enjoy playing the sports just as much as I like writing about them. I have played hockey since i was six years old. I started off as a forward but later became a goaltender which is a position I love to play. I am currently taking my first year of University where I will be majoring in Criminology. Thanks for reading my articles, I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I do writing them.

I'm a petroleum geologist who spent twenty years working in Calgary and apparently I'm also a frustrated sports writer. I've watched organized sports since 1967. Since then I've been a diehard Montreal Canadiens fan. The Expos ,Alouettes , Houston Oilers , Chicago Bears and Calgary Flames all came later. I had a share in two flames season tickets for the past ten years. I still harbour some bitterness for MLB and the 94 strike because of what they did to my Expos. I'm not all that keen on what happened to my Oilers either so you might notice some vitriol when talk of corporate greed in sports or moving franchises to make an extra buck is mentioned. I'm also a little biaised in favour of the habs, the flames, and bears. I find my judgement is skewed when it comes to those teams. Gen...

I am from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and I run a sports blog at overtim.blogspot.com
I played hockey since I was 5 years old both as a player and a goalie. First as a goalie for my first 5 or 6 years, then as a player for 4 years to finally go back to good old goaltending since.
Goaltending is my forte as I am currently (secretly) training for next season.
I am not talking about NHL here right off the bat, just relax hehehe...
But am sure will be looking for a pro training camp come next june/july/august. I am browsing different european leagues and north american leagues right now.
A coaching position is of course kept for later, once my physical abilities as a player will be obsolete. I am 34 years old and if Hasek can do it at 42-43ish I damn sure can for as long as h...
