I admit I used to play the game where I was focused on moving up the ladder at B/R, trying my best to be the top writer and all that. But now I no longer pimp my articles, or look for websites to artificially increase readership, and I'm satisified writing what I want and not some nonsence just to attract reads.

Yep, I spent about a year ranked #1 in MLB and the Cubs, and was ranked as high as #2 overall on the site at one time. These days, I am happy simply contributing to the site and allowing others to take the mantle.

I am currently a staff writer for the Free Press Newspapers in Wilmington, IL and the former sports editor at the Northern Star, the campus newspaper at Northern Illinois University. I graduated in May 2009 with a Bachelor's of Science in Journalism and a minor in English. In my time at the Star I covered former NIU defensive end, two-time MAC MVP and No. 16 pick in the 2009 NFL Draft to the San Diego Chargers, Larry English. Along with my staff we spent an entire semester producing a special section, the Top 50 Huskies of All Time (http://www.northernstar.info/page.php?pid=top50). Among other things, I also had the chance to cover men's soccer, women's basketball, volleyball and various football stories at NIU.

I'm an Ohio State Grad going to DePaul grad school, I was on the Ohio State Varsity Fencing team. I love college football above all other sports, NFL and MLB are always excellent and I love a good hockey game.

I am a full blown MMA fan and love humble, hard working fighters.

I am a baseball guy by trade. I run youth baseball tournaments, leagues, and instructional camps. I also coach a high school baseball team. While I would clearly consider this my area of expertise, I certainly am aware of and follow sports at all levels here in the Midwest. Look for articles on the Big Ten and other points of interest locally, with some national views sprinkled in as well.
