Game on.

An Open Letter to the Bleacher Report Community

Bleacher Report is out of beta and we've got a whole new look and feel to the site and a shiny new logo to boot.

But that's not all. We're also debuting the following new features and improvements to further enhance the BR community:

  • Better and more transparent Writer Rankings

We wanted to do a better job of rewarding the very best contributors to the network as a whole and to specific communities within the site. So we did just that, expanding the scope of the Writer Rankings algorithm and clearly explaining what it takes to make it to the top.

Now writers have an easier way to share their work with larger audiences, and readers can spread analysis they've discovered to more like-minded fans. The new "Share This Article" menu lets you quickly e-mail articles to friends or share them on Digg and Facebook. More sharing options coming soon.

  • Pick of the Day

Ever read an article on BR that you felt was especially worthy of attention and wondered how you could help it to reach the Front Page? Now you can with your Pick of the Day vote. It's simple: one vote per person per day, the article with the most votes gets the Pick of the Day distinction and special recognition on the Front Page.

  • More Stats

You asked, we listened. Now you can track your exact readership numbers for each article, in addition to a host of other personal statistics on your new personal report card on the Front Page. Enjoy—and make sure not to wear out the refresh button.

  • Improved Search

If you've tried using the search bar on Bleacher Report in the past, you may have experienced the speed and quality of results as being woefully—well—woeful. We, too, shared that pain, so we made sure that for launch the search was snappily fast and returned relevant results. Try it out and see for yourself.

  • Comment Flagging

One of Bleacher Report's hallmarks is the quality of debate and the spirit of competitive camaraderie that keeps conversation civil even in heated disagreement. Still, sometimes things can get out of hand. So we've added a simple way to flag comments for spam, abuse, or obscene content. In the spirit of open debate, make sure to flag only the truly objectionable.

  • The Short List

While many writers have written elaborate bios to paint a picture of themselves to their readers, we thought it would be fun to add a different angle to the Writer Profile by posing a series of sports-related questions to each writer in a new feature called the Short List.

Those are the highlights, but there's a lot more to this official launch. Spend some time browsing around the site to get a feel for all the new additions to the mix at BR.

Most importantly, we've added more article links to practically every page on the network, since great content from Bleacher Report's community of writers is what makes the Open Source Sports Network what it is.

We hope you like the new look and features, and want to stress that we'll continue to improve the site moving forward.

As always, if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or complaints, please send us some feedback.

Thanks for your contributions to the network to date, and looking forward to the next era in Bleacher Report as we work together as a community to reinvent, revitalize, and reclaim sports media.

All the best,
The Bleacher Report Team
