With the Oakland Coliseum minutes away from home, I had no choice but to be a sports fan.

While my dad was in the Navy our family moved from city to city until we settled in the Bay Area. Naturally, I was drawn to the Bay Area teams and followed them religiously.

At the age of 17, I left the Bay and attended college at UC Davis. With the need to escape home but not live too far, it was the most logical choice. During those years I developed a love of teaching (I was an instructor for two drumlines) and honed my writing skills. I graduated with a degree in Psychology (watch out!) and a minor in Communication.

To hide my identity as a superhero, I am a high school English Teacher. My love of writing is shared with 11th and 12th graders; only half are probably listening while a ...

5 - Evan Aczon

Writer bio

Born in San Francisco, raised in Richmond, going to school at Cal.

I love the Giants, always have. Also loved the Niners my whole life. I like the A's, love the new Warriors and Cal football, and am starting to expand my horizons and embrace the Sharks. I hate Al Davis, and Robert Rowell, and the Yorks.

I'm a Political Science major here at Berkeley, and have aspirations of law school and sports journalism. I send emails to the Giants beat writer Chris Haft weekly, but have never had my question published in the mailbag. Hopefully next semester I'll be writing for the Daily Californian, but I have to wait till Spring to get that application back.

Im a graduate of Brooklyn College in NYC and have my journalism degree and hope to attain a post-graduate degree as well. I have my own website, liveabovemediocrity.com, which follows me in my daily travels and life and is my official blog.

My favorite teams are the Spurs, Padres, and Lions. I know...strange picks huh? Well, I just fell in love with these teams in the early 90's when they had D-Rob, Barry, and Gwynn on them.

11 - Travis Nelson

Writer bio

Travis has been writing about baseball since 2002. He started the Boy of Summer blog in August of that year and has had his work featured on Baseball Outsider, 360thePitch, All-Baseball, and MVN. Travis also once was interviewed for a local TV station, got a snarky one-line letter to Sports Illustrated published, interviewed Jim Palmer (sort of), met Lou Piniella in a Nordstrom in Paramus, NJ, and didn't shake Ron Guidry's hand. That was a lie. Also, he's probably taller than you.

12 - Scott Fowler

Writer bio

Well, hey there - I'm Scott Fowler - Though, uhm, right: you're here, you knew that much already. I'm a transplanted Canadian that has real passion for Baseball and Hockey, more notably, The Los Angeles Angels or Anaheim, the Anaheim Ducks, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

That said, I'm also just a passionate baseball and hockey fan. I might wax nostalgic on here from time to time, but thats ok. . . . . right?

I'm also the new community leader for the (Los Angeles) Angels of Anaheim. I'm an OC Resident, and honestly will never really be able to call 'em the LA Angels. Just one of those things. If you have any questions or concerns, or comments, both derogatory and useful - - please let me know and drop me a line. :)
