Bleacher Report College Football Challenge

Welcome to the b/rCS, Bleacher Report's first season long competition!

Beginning next Tuesday, we'll be keeping an ongoing ranking of the top 25 Bleacher Report writers who have accumulated the most MyPicks votes on their College Football articles. The top ranked writer at the end of the season wins a trip to the BCS National Championship Game in Miami.

How it works

  1. Enter the contest by accepting the Terms & Conditions below.
  2. Contribute quality college football articles to Bleacher Report (if you're new to the site, just click the "Write" tab in the header and you'll be on your way). Make sure that any articles you wish to count towards the b/rCS are tagged with "College Football".
  3. Every time another Bleacher Report member gives one of your college football articles a MyPicks vote, you earn one point in the b/rCS.
  4. On the Tuesday morning of each week—from September 2nd until December 9th, 2008—the Top 25 Leaders of the b/rCS will be ranked, according to the total number of MyPicks votes on their College Football articles.
  5. On the morning of December 9th, the writer with the most MyPicks votes on their College Football articles will be declared the winner of the b/rCS, and will win a trip to cover the BCS Championship Game in Miami courtesy of Bleacher Report. The writers with the second and third most points will be awarded with runners-up prizes described below.

Prizes

The winner of the B/RCS will receive a two-day trip to the BCS National Championship Game in Miami, Florida.

The second and third place winners of the B/RCS will receive complete team apparel packages, including an authentic team jersey, hats, t-shirts, and shorts of their favorite school.

Official Contest Rules

Eligibility:

This (B/R)CS Contest (the “Contest”) is only open to U.S. residents who are at least 18 years of age at date of entry, and U.S. residents under 18 who are at least 13 years of age at date of entry and have express permission from their parent or legal guardian to enter the Contest, which parent or legal guardian agrees to comply with these Official Contest Rules. If an entrant is under 18, all references to the entrant in these Official Contest Rules means the entrant and his or her parent or legal guardian. All applicable laws and regulations apply. THIS CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.

In order to be eligible for the Contest, all entrants must submit the Entry Form by agreeing to the terms and conditions to the contest below. Owners, employees, and independent contractors of Bleacher Report, and their subsidiaries, affiliates, their advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, and the immediate family members and persons living in the same household of such persons, are not eligible to participate in the Contest.

Entrants who do not comply with these requirements or these Official Rules are not eligible to compete or win a prize. Bleacher Report estimates that the total number of entrants in the Contest will be approximately 3000.

Entry Deadline:

The Contest is open to entries submitted to Bleacher Report at bleacherreport.comon or before December 8th, 2008.

Nomination Entry Form:

In order to be eligible for the Contest, all entrants must submit the Entry Form by agreeing to the terms and conditions to the contest below. Entrants should submit only one Entry Form, but may submit multiple entries.

By submitting an Entry Form, the entrant agrees to abide by and be bound by these Official Contest Rules, the Bleacher Report Terms of Use and any decision Bleacher Report or its designees makes regarding any matters relating to the Contest. All decisions made by Bleacher Report or its designees shall be final and binding. Bleacher Report reserves the right to disqualify entrants from the Contest, and any future Contest or other promotion conducted by Bleacher Report, and to prosecute to the fullest extent permitted by law, any entrant who, in Bleacher Report's reasonable judgment, tampers with any of Bleacher Report's websites, the entry process, or any Contest; violates these Official Rules; or acts in a disruptive manner. In the event of disqualification of the winner, Bleacher Report may replace the winner with the next runner-up at the sole discretion of Bleacher Report.

All entries become the property of Bleacher Report, and will not be returned once received by Bleacher Report. Each entrant grants Bleacher Report the right to disseminate information regarding the entries as part of Bleacher Report's ongoing marketing and public relations efforts without naming the entrant and without compensation, notice to or approval from the entrant, unless prohibited by law. Each entrant shall take any additional steps reasonably requested by Bleacher Report in order to transfer and/or perfect the rights granted or warranted to Bleacher Report in these Official Rules.

If an entrant is chosen by Bleacher Report as a Contest winner, each winning entrant expressly consents to the public disclosure of his or her name, pictures and entry stories. Furthermore, each winning entrant consents to the use of his or her name, photograph and/or likeness, address, voice, and statements made by or attributed to him or her, by Bleacher Report, in perpetuity, in all media, technologies, and other formats now existing or later developed (including but not limited to print, broadcast, and Internet), for all business purposes, such as advertising and promotional activities, without additional compensation, notice, or approval, unless prohibited by law. By entering the Contest, entrant warrants that he or she is the sole designer, creator, and owner of the entry, including all visual components, or has permission to use copyrighted components, and further warrants that the entry does not infringe the rights of any third parties. Entrant must have obtained all necessary releases from any persons or related to any subject matter appearing in each entry.

Contest of Skill:

Because this is a contest of skill, winning is dependent on the quantity and quality of entries received.

Judging Criteria:

  1. Eligible entries consist of articles about college football submitted to Bleacher Report for publication (“Articles”). Entries will be judged by other Bleacher Report members by voting with the “MyPicks” feature on the Bleacher Report service. Entrants shall submit Articles to the Bleacher Report service between August 26th and December 8th, 2008. To qualify as entries to the Contest, Articles must be tagged "College Football" as specified in the instructions for tagging on the Bleacher Report service.
  2. Entrants shall earn one point for every verified "MyPicks" vote that their eligible Articles receive.
  3. Every Monday evening, all "MyPicks" votes from the previous week will be counted, and standings ranking the entrants will be posted on the Bleacher Report site the following day.
  4. The entrant who as of midnight on Monday, December 8th has accumulated the most "MyPicks" votes will be declared the winner of the Contest and will receive the winning prize as listed below.
  5. In the case of a tie, the tying entrant with the highest overall Bleacher Report Writer Ranking (as defined on the Bleacher Report service) will be declared the winner, and the tying entrant with the next highest overall Bleacher Report Writer Ranking will win second place.
  6. The entrants who as of midnight on Monday, December 8th have accumulated the second and third most "MyPicks" votes will win the runners up prizes listed below.
  7. In the case of a tie for second place, the tying entrant with the highest overall Bleacher Report Writer Ranking will win second place and the tying entrant with the next highest overall Bleacher Report Writer Ranking will win third place. In the case of a tie for third place, the tying entrant with the highest overall Bleacher Report Writer Ranking will win third place.
  8. Bleacher Report will attempt to notify each winning entrant on or before December 11th, 2008. If a potential winner cannot be reached by phone or email within two (2) attempts within 48 hours or if he/she is found to be ineligible or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules, he/she may be disqualified and an alternate entrant whose college football articles received the next highest amount of MyPicks votes may be selected.

Notification of Winner:

Each winning entrant must sign and return any documents, if requested, within the time period stipulated by Bleacher Report. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in disqualification. Any notification returned as undeliverable may result in disqualification.

Prizes:

The winning entrant of the Contest shall receive an all-expenses paid trip for two people to the BCS Championship in Miami, FL. Approximate retail value of the Contest Prize is $3000. Travel is based on availability and must be completed within the 2009 calendar year. Blackout dates and restrictions apply.

The runners up of the contest shall receive complete team apparel packages, including authentic team jerseys, hats, t-shirts and shorts of their favorite school. Approximate retail value of each apparel package is $250.

All Contest Prizes are non-transferable, non-redeemable for cash and may not be applied as a credit towards a different Bleacher Report offering. The applicable standard ticket contract terms and conditions shall apply to all winners. All other expenses not specifically referred to herein shall be the responsibility of the Contest winners and runners up. Winners and runners up are also solely responsible for meeting any and all requisite governmental requirements, including, but not limited to, possessing a valid passport.

All winners will be required to execute (and have notarized) an Affidavit of Eligibility and a Publicity Release (the "Affidavit/Release"), which must be returned to and received by Bleacher Report within ten (10) days from winner's receipt of the Affidavit/Release. Winners under the age of 18 will be required to include the written consent of a parent or legal guardian in such Affidavit/Release. Winners will also be required to send a copy of their passport, driver's license and/or birth certificate as proof of age and residency. Non-compliance with any of these requirements may result in disqualification, in which case Bleacher Report may select an alternate winning entrant. The return of the Affidavit/Release of liability within the allotted time shall be the sole responsibility of the winning entrant; Bleacher Report is not responsible for delays in delivery.

To obtain a list of winners' and runners up names, send an email message to trey@bleacherreport.com and type "b/rCS Contest Winners" in the subject line. Such requests must be received by December 10th, 2009.

Taxes:

ALL TAXES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF THE PRIZES ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ENTRANTS. Bleacher Report reserves the right to withhold any taxes as required by applicable law. The winning entrants will be required to supply Social Security numbers or other taxpayer identification numbers prior to the award of any prize.

BLEACHER REPORT MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, REGARDING ANY PRIZE OR ENTRANT'S PARTICIPATION IN ANY CONTEST. BY ENTERING THE CONTEST, EACH ENTRANT INDEMNIFIES, RELEASES AND AGREES TO HOLD HARMLESS BLEACHER REPORT AND ITS PARENTS, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, OWNERS, EMPLOYEES FROM ANY LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR ANY CLAIMS, COSTS, LOSSES, OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THOSE RELATED TO, PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, INFRINGEMENT OF PROPRIETARY RIGHTS, RIGHTS OF PUBLICITY, OR PRIVACY OR DEFAMATION AND ATTORNEY FEES) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH: (1) ENTERING THE CONTEST; (2) ACCEPTANCE OR USE OF ANY PRIZE; OR (3) ANY OTHER ACT OR OMISSION ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE CONTEST.

Governing Law:

This Contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, applicable to contracts made and performed therein without reference to conflicts of law principles. All actions, proceedings, or litigation relating hereto will be instituted and prosecuted solely in Santa Clara County, California. The parties consent to the jurisdiction of the federal and state courts located in the Santa Clara County, California, with respect to any action, dispute, or other matter pertaining to or arising out of any Contest.
