Steve Spurrier and Gamecocks Looking to "Camouflage" the Gators' BCS Title Hopes

As we draw closer and closer to the holiday season, the Carolina Gamecocks will try to spark the un-ignited flames of the 2009 season. The Gamecocks draw top-ranked Florida this week, which squeaked by Vanderbilt 27-3.

The Gators seem to live in the preseason and love to destroy helpless little creatures of the college football world. The Florida squad has a strict diet of defense and live and breathe by Tim Tebow.

The Gamecocks are slim on defense, can't seem to punch it in on offense, and are trying crazily to avoid the yearly late-season slide. The Carolina team has shown sparks, but has not put it all together for a whole game this season.

But when the Gators come easily strolling into Columbia, they will not realize this Carolina squad is a lot like the Hogs who almost beat them a while back. Steve Spurrier should have his team fired up that beat up the then-No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels back in September.

It looks like the perfect trap set-up for one of college football's biggest upsets. The Gators are struggling on offense. The Gamecocks will have some awesome Camo uniforms in support of the troops. Steve Spurrier needs his juice back. This week would be a perfect time for an upset.

News and Notes : Cliff Matthews will be a game time decision on whether he will play or not.

The Music City Bowl has a close eye on South Carolina. "We have a lot of interest in South Carolina," MCB President/CEO told Gamecock Central on Wednesday. "It's exciting for our position as a bowl that there are so many good teams in the SEC. That helps us because it keeps the excitement level high when the fans arrive in Nashville."

The bowl is played on December 27th at LP Field, at 8:15. The 2008 game included Kentucky and Florida State and it brought in a record crowd of 68,661 to the game. USC remains a candidate for the bowl even if it finishes 6-6. The Gamecocks are a good bet for the bowl if they finish 7-5.
