Mexico: Heart of a Champion Is El Tri's New Anthem

El Tri will have a huge motivator starting May 30, when the team faces Nigeria in an international friendly at Reliant Stadium. Mexican Grammy-winning pop group Jesse y Joy has put up an anthem for the national team.

The song, which you can download for free, talks about the pride and passion of the El Tri supporters. "Corazón de Campeón" (Heart of a Champion) is an upbeat tune, full of rhythm that invites people to sing and dance while cheering for the squad.

Kyle Diller, new media manager for Gilt Edge Soccer Marketing, LLC, told Bleacher Report that, “this is definitely an anthem for the Nigeria friendly and will be played at that game.”

Meanwhile, at the Hispanicize Music Festival where the song was released, the performers acknowledged that, “as soccer fans ourselves, we have great respect for the Mexican National Team. Soccer has no language barriers, so we encourage everyone to learn the song and chant it off the top of their lungs to support their national team.”

Jesse y Joy (brother and sister) came into the musical scene in 2007 with "Esto es lo que Soy" (This is What I am). Their debut album received a Platinum certification from the Mexican Association of Producers of Phonograms and Videograms. They have two more studio albums so far.

"Corazón de Campeón" is the first song they have recorded for sporting purpose, and it will be an anthem through the rest of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying. Mexico is set to play against Jamaica on June 4 (away), and Costa Rica on June 11 (home), before traveling to Brazil for the Confederations Cup.

This is not the first time El Tri’s supporters have had a song to support the team.

In 1986 the players sang "El Equipo Tricolor" (The Tricolor Team). In 1994 Televisa, a Mexican broadcaster, created "Mexico Let’s Go," and in 2010 Mexican pop singer Emmanuel released "Bam, bam, un Gol por Ti" (Bam, bam a goal for you).
