Brett Favre Forever

"I know I can still play, but it's like I told my wife, I'm just tired mentally. I'm just tired," Favre told ESPN's Chris Mortensen in a voice mail message.

There you have it, the end of the Green Bay legend. "It had to happen one of these days," my dad said to me that day. Still, it was a big surprise to everyone across the nation.

The 38-year-old, three-time MVP set several league records, including most career touchdown passes, in his last and one of his most successful seasons.

He has inspired many young kids to play the greatest game of our time. Many of the NFL players today say that they have always looked up Brett.

He means the world to Green Bay and the rest of the NFL fans. He was around a long time. He played hard, worked hard, inspired, and encouraged his team the whole time he was on the field.

He played through pain, he played through losses. He is an idol!

"His accomplishments are legendary," Ted Thompson said. "And it's the passion with which he played that made everyone a Brett Favre fan."

That is 100 percent true. This man played with great passion and you could see it in his eyes. He was a man who believed in himself.

Brett Favre retires with 5,377 career completions in 8,758 attempts for 61,655 yards, 442 touchdowns, and 288 interceptions. He holds almost all of the quarterback records and is a first ballot Hall of Famer.

As a Packer fan, I owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude! His love for the game will leave an impact on all of us for the rest of our lives.

Brett, we are going to miss you.
