Green Bay Packers: Brett Favre Calls It Quits

Brett Favre retires. What else is there to say?

Just let it sink in.

That's right. One of the NFL's classiest guys has thrown in the towel. Through the good and bad, thick and thin, he's given his life to the Green Bay Packers and the Frozen Tundra of Wisconsin.

I know he's blown out his fair share of birthday candles, and he may not be the Brett Favre of the past, but I think this was the worst time he could have possibly retired.

He has a great supporting cast, and he was only one game away from making it to the Big Game this year.

Who knows how far he could have made it next year?

The NFL needs guys like Brett Favre. They need guys who can competitively play into their 40's. And more than anything, pro sports needs guys who do it the right way.

There are a lot of athletes who are going to be the face of sports for years to come. I just hope all of them can follow in the footsteps of model athletes like Favre and stay clean while still portraying what sports in this nation represent.

So maybe Favre really is done with football.

Maybe not.

Either way, his legacy and poise will leave an everlasting affect on the sport.

Thanks, Brett.
World Series Possibilities in 2008: What Do You Think?

I'd like to get the discussion started.

Basically, I want to hear people's predictions about who they think will make the 2008 World Series.

Will the Red Sox make it back? Or will the newly improved Tigers ruin their shot? Can the Yankees get back into the swing of things, or will they continue to suffer after the loss of Joe Torre?

You decide.

Kobe Bryant Nets 52

The Mavs came up just shy on Sunday, losing by four to the new-look Lakers.

Recent addition Pau Gasol contributed big-time for the Purple and Gold, dropping 17 points. Fisher and Walton both dropped 11, while Lamar Odom knocked in six.

Oh yeah, and that guy Kobe Bryant—he banged 52. This was just the 22nd time in his career that he's passed the half-century mark.

After the Lakers' rocky start, they made a few deadline moves and now—winning 11 of the last 13 games—they've flown to the top of most lists ranking favorite NBA Champ candidates.

In an interview with Michelle Tafoya, Lakers' head coach Phil Jackson said Kobe hasn't played this well since he came back from an ankle injury in '01.

So, for everyone out there who jumped off the Bryant Bandwagon, it may be high time that you jump back on.

Bryant scored 33 points on Saturday, which means his average points per game this weekend is 42.5

Can you say MVP?
