An Open Challenge to the B/R MMA Section: Get a Better Crap Radar

Come on people...is it REALLY this bad???

You people have the honor and privilege of reading articles written by a real medical professional, and MMA junkie and student...

Some are so foolish as to mock this wishing well full of knowledge in both medicine and MMA...

Now I am reading multiple articles posted by a certain pro wrestling writer pertaining to Brock Lesnar and his medical condition...

It isn't the fact that these articles are FULL of inaccurate and downright ridiculous "medical" information that bother me the most...

It isn't the fact that the B/R community and editors are foolish enough to post these articles as "front page" or "featured stories" without even confirming whether any of this information is at all accurate...

What bothers me the most is that you people actually BUY it!!!

It is actually rare to have diverticulitis without microperforations (little holes).

A diverticular abscess is fairly common...mostly in 70-year-olds who recover in a matter of weeks.

If Lesnar's perforation in his intestine was present for more than a few days, he would be dead right now...so the writer's/Dana White's theories about it being present for "months" is total crap.

In fact, if a human being had a perforated intestine without being hospitalized within a matter of HOURS and placed on critical care, IV antibiotics, IV fluids, and likely surgical debridement, they would rapidly develop SEPTIC SHOCK and DEATH!!!

Impossible for a perforated intestine to develop a larger hole from body blows...it is buried way too deep and moves too easily...that is total crap. (Not to mention the fact that the person would have been dead LONG before this!)

Need I go on? This is crap...

Honestly, the author does not have the medical or the MMA knowledge to be writing in this section, to be fair to the other hard-working authors here.

When Lesnar goes back to pro wrestling, then you are the man...until then...please don't write about things you know nothing about and cut and paste crap on here from other sites...

By the way, although in rare, hereditary conditions, young people (under 50) can have diverticulosis (the pouches) and develop diverticulitis (the infected pouches that perforate)...but a more common cause in a person in this age group of premature intestinal disease would be....guess what????

Come on...What do you think could cause a person's intestinal tract to develop and progress at a younger age than expected....?????????

HGH abuse.

Seriously people, you really do need a much more accurate CRAP RADAR...LOL!

"I can't wait to see Brock Lesnar fight without a hole in his intestine...."

"He will be even more dominant...."

NEWSFLASH...Brock Lesnar NEVER fought with a hole in his intestine...the only holes Lesnar had in his intestinal tract during any fights were the same holes we all have...

Mouth...

Anus...

The only problem is...sometimes with a guy like Lesnar...I can't tell which is which...

BREAKING NEWS: FEDOR "STILL" THE MAN

Who's "da man" now, Dana White?

Well, "da man" is still da man...

Fedor just KO'ed a man who is larger, has more KO power and a better record than the current UFC HW "Champion" Brock Lesnar!

Fedor was looking quite pale, and I'm pretty sure he was fighting despite potentially having H1N1 and Mono at the same time.

With a nasty-looking, possibly broken nose in Round One (despite dominating most of the round), Fedor came back in Round Two and threw the best overhand right in all of MMA!

What will White say now?

What he should say is that he wants to run an interpromotional HW champ vs. champ fight with Fedor vs. his champ (whoever that may be).

My question for Dana is: Do YOU have the balls to put your best against Fedor? I think we all know the answer to that question.

Fedor shut a lot of mouths tonight (including Brett Rogers')!

BROCK LESNAR PLANNING UFC RETIREMENT?

Note: The following article is complete speculation as to what illness Brock has. There are no definitive facts as to what he has at this time. However, one must note that this author did "Break the News" FIRST that Lesnar would be out for 3-6 months (or even indefinitely) due to his illness despite the humor inserted in the remainder of the article. It is also noteworthy that many of those who criticized this article are now plagiarizing information contained herein for their own "Breaking News" articles...how ironic!

UFC "insiders" are reporting that Brock Lesnar's "illness" is likely going to result in his "early retirement" from the UFC.

There has been considerable speculation on "what" exactly is this illness Brock suffers from that is allegedly preventing him from training for his UFC match-up with Shane Carwin.

Initial reports were that Lesnar contracted H1N1. When doctors explained to UFC officials that H1N1 should not prevent an otherwise healthy individual from returning to action within 1-2 weeks, Lesnar's camp was very disappointed.

Now we have rumors of Infectious Mononucleosis. There are a few problems with the "Mono theory". First problem is that it would be incredibly rare for a person to make it through high school, junior college, and college without ever being exposed to what is affectionately known as "the kissing disease". Now some may say that Brock may have been unable to score a kiss in all those years, but I will fully endorse that I believe Brock could have scored a few kisses in his teens and early 20's.

The second problem with the Mono Theory is that any physician with half a brain would have run a series of basic lab tests on Brock when he presented with fever and fatigue (one of which being a Mono spot test). The test is 99.9% accurate, and is cheap and simple. I find it very hard to believe that Brock hadn't been tested for Mono up until this point.

"Chickenshititis" is still a strong possibility...but that was already covered in another brilliant article...so no need to expound on that here!

I think the issue at hand now is to presume that (at a minimum) Lesnar will be out for 3-6 months (if not indefinitely). If he has Mono, and has the classic splenomegaly, he cannot participate in any contact sports for many months. If he has Mono (or CMV, quite similar but more severe than Mono), he will be out for 6 months + due to fatigue, etc.

So what do we do with the HW division? Well, I believe Carwin and Velasquez can both beat Brock, so we don't want them to fight each other right away. I would love to see each of these top contenders fight their way through all of Brock's former opponents to prove how easy it is for them to beat them.

Carwin will KO Mir in 30 seconds or less. Same with Herring. Couture may last a minute or two, but that will be it.

In the meantime, Velasquez can beat up Big Nog. From there, perhaps the HW winner of TUF? I could see giving the winner of Velasquez and Big Nog an Interim HW title.

This series could get us through 6 months. By then, we should have a final verdict on Brock. If he comes back, he fights Carwin for the ?vacant HW title. Then after Carwin KO's Brock, we see the real showdown between Carwin and Velasquez.

I see this as the best case scenario for the HW division at this point...

How To Destroy a Legend 101 With Professor Russo

I have to be honest, I was once a die hard WCW/NWA fan. In the late 80's and early 90's, I would have taken a set of tickets to ANY WCW/NWA PPV event/show over ANY WWF/WWE show (even WrestleMania, except maybe WrestleMania 6 since I wanted to watch the Warrior defeat Hogan!)

Then enters Vince Russo (or so I'm assuming). It started with Hogan's entrance into WCW. Sting quickly became No. 2 after being No. 1 for so long. Hogan did NOTHING to take over Sting's No. 1 spot (in fact, the one match they wrestled early in Hogan's WCW days when they were both faces, Sting had Hogan locked in a Scorpion Death Lock and he was tapping out but the "dungeon of doom" ran in to attack and the match was thrown out).

After that match, Sting just stepped back and let Hogan be No. 1, including "jobbing" to guys so Hogan could be the hero and come in and beat them later.

Then the Goldberg era. Russo (or whoever was really responsible, I hate to blame one guy since it takes a bunch of guys to run/ruin a company) was able to severely blemish the legacy of both Sting and Hogan.

Hogan got demolished by Goldberg every time they wrestled. Sting held his own the first match (and actually, like the Hogan match, had Goldberg locked in a Scorpion and Goldberg did tap out if you watch the YouTube, by the way) and then Hogan came in and costed Sting the match.

After that, the geniuses of WCW decided Sting needed to get demolished by Goldberg the next time they wrestled (since everyone felt Sting won that first match and ended the "streak").

Now, we go to the "modern era" of TNA. Sting has wrestled Samoa Joe three times to my knowledge. The first time (again, seems to be a pattern here!), Sting had Joe beat but was nailed with a chair by Christopher Daniels and Joe took the cheap win. The second time, Sting got the crap beat out of him but then "cheated" (with the MEM interference) to win the TNA title.

Last night, we witnessed the worst (and the most self-destructive for TNA) match of the "trilogy". Granted, Sting is 50 years old now. Still, I can't help but think that a 50 year old man in top condition with a huge experience advantage would be able to pull off the win against TNA's rebirth of "Chunk" from the "Goonies"!

Instead, we witnessed an initial beat down, then a brief comeback by Sting where it actually looked more reasonable, to complete annihilation at the end. Granted, Stinger got the DQ victory, but at what cost?

TNA just took their crown jewel and crapped on it. They took their No. 1 guy (he must be the longest running TNA champion by this point the way that belt has been tossed around like a hot potato)...and embarrassed him.

Look at the demise of WCW. A big part of the demise was a series of events that made the WCW World Title completely meaningless (there have been some great articles outlining this, we all know what happened, so I don't think I need to mention it here!)

They also took the entire foundation of the company (which was STING), and turned it upside down by having him job to pretty much every guy they wanted to push at the moment (Sid Vicious, Booker T, Goldberg, Scott Steiner...I think they may have even made him take the pin from Dennis Rodman in a tag match one time!)

Take a look at this chain of events, TNA. You just took a big step last night towards making your TNA World Title worthless. Sting has multiple wins over KURT ANGLE. If he can beat Angle, then you sure as hell better give him a clean win over Chunk!

If Sting does not come out and call Joe out and give him a good beat down and take a clean win over him soon, the TNA title is going to be forever tarnished.

I guess I could have easily changed the title of this article to "How To Destroy a Company 101 With Professor Russo" or simply "How To Make a World Title Meaningless/Worthless 101 With Professor Russo", but I chose the "Legend" part because the wrestler (with the Stinger) will be remembered long after the company is gone (and their title!)

Take notes from WWE, TNA: You will NEVER see Vince (the smart one) take a FACE world champ and have him get completely embarrassed by a guy who isn't even considered the No. 1 contender (actually, he would never do that with a FACE world champ, period.)

Wrestling has some basic, longstanding "rules" that are there for a reason. One of these unwritten rules is that you don't take a FACE world champion and have him get completely demolished by ANYONE...why can they not learn from WCW's mistakes??? Thanks for reading my rant!

Can Anyone Alive Beat Anderson Silva?

This article is purely opinion. I'm not going to pretend it is anything else (unlike many of the other writers). Perhaps it is even fantasy.

Anderson Silva has destroyed great fighters in the Octagon like no one alive today. Out of kindness to the other fighters, I refuse to name any names...but some amazing fighters have been absolutely destroyed by this man!

And while other authors may write article after article, claiming "their favorite" fighter is the best in MMA, I fail to see any real MMA knowledge to back up these claims.

Silva is a legit Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt. He has been taken to the ground by BJJ black belts, and even by Olympic caliber wrestlers, and has dominated them at their own game.

The most scary thing about Silva is clearly his Muay Thai. The man locks you in his Thai Clinch, and it seems there is truly no escape. When he gets another fighter in that position, it almost looks as though they are paralyzed (as if they were bitten by a spider).

Every strike the man throws is deadly. Both hands, both elbows, both knees, and both feet are packed full of pain and torture! That is pure Muay Thai, people, using all eight weapons (the ninth weapon, the head, is obviously illegal...but I bet he can use it if he needed it!)

So the purpose of this article is purely to generate a discussion. I want to hear everyone's opinions on who could possibly beat this man and why (and I emphasize "why"...you need to give an intelligent argument).

His only potential weakness (that I have seen) may be his takedown defense. He has been taken down, and even mounted! Still, the guy just could not finish him. But surely there is someone out there who is a good enough wrestler to take him down, and has good enough ground-and-pound to finish him.

Since I don't think there is anyone alive who could beat this man (even in different weight classes...if they were the same size...the whole "pound-for-pound" concept), I would love to hear some possible "super fighters" who could beat him!

I'll give an example, and let the games begin!

"The Spider Killer"

Muay Thai — Brandon Vera

Boxing & KO Power — Rampage

Wrestling/Takedowns — Kurt Angle (I said you can pick anyone, remember?)

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu/submission grappling — Robert Drysdale

Ground-and-Pound — lots of choices!

Chin/Ability to take punishment — Rocky Marciano (reincarnated)

I believe the "Spider Killer" could beat Silva...most likely with the use of Kurt Angle's incredible takedowns, combined with Robert Drysdale's World Championship caliber BJJ/submissions.

The Spider Killer wins via takedown and submission...let's hear what you guys have to offer...

Congratulations TNA...You Have Finally "Crossed the Line"...

TNA has finally done it...they have "crossed the line"...but I don't think this was the line they were hoping to cross (or at least I would hope not)...

I think if anyone has read my comments in various articles, they would realize I am a lifelong fan of Sting. Sting is my favorite wrestler of all time for a variety of reasons. I started watching TNA because they had Sting, plain and simple.

That is what makes me sit through each edition of IMPACT. If I read the "spoilers" and see Sting is not on the show, then I don't watch.

That being said, I was starting to gain some interest in some of the other wrestlers on IMPACT.

There are a few guys (Hernandez, AJ Styles, Jay Lethal, etc.) who are "close" to being entertaining enough that I would actually continue to watch once Sting retires. They aren't there yet, but they were getting "close".

Last night, Samoa Joke (oops, I mean "Joe") may have ruined that for TNA. I started watching wrestling when I was pretty young, so I have always thought it was an acceptable and enjoyable "father-son" activity for me to watch wrestling with my boys.

I was even thinking of taking them with me for the first time to watch a live show, as WWE has really made some efforts to become more "PG" than they were when I used to go to the live shows more often.

I'm not "picking on" TNA, as I think things like HHH and his sledgehammer (and many other things not worth naming) really push the limits of what I find acceptable for my children to see.

They are old enough to understand it isn't "real", but I still believe there are certain things that send a bad enough message to people that it is just unacceptable to put on public television.

HHH's sledgehammer pushes the limits (and if you notice, he RARELY ever actually hits anyone with it, and if he does, it is with the end rather than actually "hammering" them!) Samoa Joke/Joe and his machete definitely "crossed the line" for A LOT of people.

Kurt Angle got suspended for beating up Jarrett and Foley. What is going to happen to Chunk (remember the Goonies?) when he goes all "Friday the 13th" on Big Papa Drop Foot on IMPACT? My guess is "nothing"...and I don't find that acceptable.

Obviously most "normal" people (and even kids) realize wrestling isn't "real."

Taking a machete into the ring and holding it against another person's throat definitely "crosses the line" of what any "normal" person would find acceptable television. And what was the point of it?

To prove what I have suspected all along...that Samoa Jello really is too fat to actually beat anyone in a match (resulting in him needing to resort to the use of deadly weapons)??? To prove that Russo is truly insane, and that is why his storylines are so ridiculous?

TNA needs to take responsibility for this stupidity, plain and simple. They need to make a public apology, or they need to suspend Samoa Jiggles indefinitely for this reenactment of Jason Voorhies in their ring. (Yes, we all know it's a storyline.)

But, they are still responsible for the effects their storylines have on the public. "Normal" people know it is not "real", but not everyone watching wrestling is "normal."

Sorry Jarrett/Carter/Russo/etc., you have to cater to the children and psychopaths on your quest to "cross the line"...so this means there are certain boundaries you just cannot cross.

A machete to a man's throat is crossing the line, for sure! What demographic are you targeting with this retarded storyline...the "serial killer" demographic? Hate to break it to you, TNA...most serial killers aren't going to buy tickets to your shows, buy your PPV's, or buy your merchandise.

I would have to assume (at least with merchandise sales) that most of the revenue comes from parents buying merchandise for their children. I wonder how many parents will buy their kids a t-shirt with Samoa Joe in a hockey mask with a machete??? Not this one...

All these years/decades of Sting stating he would not go to WWE/WWF because he "couldn't be on a show that he couldn't allow his kids to watch" and other wonderful moral/Christian statements...are you going to let your kids watch this latest edition of IMPACT, Steve Borden?

Guess what...mine already did...but they never will again...

Sorry, this is more of a "rant and rave" than an article...but it needed to be said at least a few times on this board...
