Who Are the Greatest of All Time To Play College Football?

Forgive me, folks. I'm a die-hard 'Bama fan, and I totally bleed Crimson blood. Yet I live in "Tebow-land," Florida.

An article in the Orlando Sentinel on Sunday morning had the headline "THE GREATEST," which started me thinking: Who would I consider the greatest of all-time to put on a college jersey and hit the line?

Of course, I'm partial to 'Bama, but I thought of a few that didn't play at the Capstone, and I just wondered what you folks thought about who was the best of all time.

My vote goes to Jim Thorpe...even though it was like, what, 50 years ago that he played. Or maybe even Red Grange, from a time when men were men, helmets were made of leather, and shoulder pads were nonexistent.

Let me know what you think. This certainly could be a fun debate!

Mr. Moore,

As a man that bleeds Crimson blood, I beg you sir, please call Bobby Knight and let the man know we want him at Alabama. You can say what you want about the man, but we need a man like this to lead us to the promised land.

He's up for grabs; let's grab him while we have a chance!

Roll Tide!

Dre Kirkpatrick Chooses Alabama Crimson Tide

A few accolades for Dre Kirkpatrick, rated as one of the top overall players in the 2009 college football recruiting class:

No. 4 overall recruit in the nation in the ESPNU150 and the No. 11 player in the Rivals100...a Parade All-American...USA Today All-American...U.S. Army All-American...EA Sports First-Team All-American...a SuperPrep All-American, Elite 50 player, and No. 7 defensive back.

He is listed as the country's No. 1 cornerback by ESPNU and Rivals.com...rated as the No. 5 cornerback by Scout.com...Rivals.com also ranks Kirkpatrick as the No. 2 player in Alabama and the fifth-fastest cornerback with the fifth-best cover skills...consensus five-star recruit.

SuperPrep lists him as the No. 2 player in Alabama...No. 2 on the Mobile Press-Register's Elite 18 and No. 3 in the Press-Register's Super Southeast 120...12th nationally in Tom Lemming's Prep Football while garnering All-America honors from Lemming as well.

Member of the Alabama Sports Writers Association's Super 12 team and a first-team All-State selection by the ASWA and The Birmingham News...rated No. 2 on The Birmingham News Super Senior list...The ASWA 2008 Back of the Year...two-time All-State player after first earning recognition as a junior in 2007.

Member of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super Southern 100...on the Orlando Sentinel All-Southern team...played in the Alabama/Mississippi All-Star Game.

Recorded 80 tackles with six interceptions and 15 pass breakups as a senior...notched 58 tackles as six picks as a junior...had 55 stops and five interceptions as a sophomore in 2006...coached by Joe Billingsley.

His numbers as a high school player stand on their own; the kid loves to play football!

He will be an impact player for the next four years and will be as important and as impressive as Antonio Langham, and all true Tide fans know what he accomplished at the Capstone. At 6'3", 185, he will be a major part of our defense the next four years.

I can't wait to see him play in Crimson and White. Roll Tide!!
