Graham Harrell + Undrafted = No Sense

This past weekend, the NFL had their annual draft. Well, in this draft, many young talented athletes were picked up by professional football teams. One thing that made me think, was how the young quarterback from Texas Tech, Graham Harrell, wasn't picked up.

This kid has had it tough—probably the toughest year of any proffesional athlete. First, getting robbed by not getting invited to the Heisman. And now not getting drafted? He's put up solid numbers all four years he played at Texas Tech.

Perhaps scouts don't think he has an accurate enough arm? Perhaps they think he can't throw far enough? Perhaps they aren't giving him enough because Crabtree was on the Red Raiders? Whatever the reason being, it was ridiculous. Especially because Josh Freeman (who?), the Kansas State quarterback got drafted and Graham Harrell AND Chase Daniels didn't. What is wrong with the scouts this year?

Honestly, I'm a numbers guy. If you put the numbers together, then you'll usually get something logical. I have no idea what these guys were thinking.

Detroit Lions: How To Capitalize on Draft Picks

Round 1

Just imagine you're the Detroit Lions. You just made history last year by becoming the first team to go 0-16. Let's just think about this logically. What are you really in need for?

Well, when you ask that, the first thing that pops into your head is probably one thing—everything.

If I were the Detroit Lions, I would pick up Michael Crabtree first. Why Crabtree? If anyone's asking, they obviously haven't watched any college football over the past two years. Crabtree is a smart pick. The Lions could use another excellent receiver next to Johnson and Crabtree fits the spot.

Round 2

So if you were smart, you picked up Crabtree. Now we have to worry about the quarterback situation. Obviously, they need a new one. But the question is, who? All of the top quarterbacks are probably already taken, so I would go with Crabtree's college quarterback, Graham Harrell. Why Harrell?

Well, I think he is just what the Detroit Lions need. The Lions need someone who is accurate. Harrell is very accurate and also has a heck of an arm. He has played with Crabtree for two years already. I think if you have Harrell, Crabtree, and Johnson on the same team, you will have a lot of passing yards, and maybe a win or two.

So, Detroit, think about this. Crabtree is the best receiver in NCAA. I think he could easily be top 10 quality next season, moving up every season. Harrell has one of the most accurate, powerful arms out of the NCAA.

Harrell and Crabtree last year were on the Red Raiders who went 11-2 (lost in the Cotton Bowl to Ole Miss) and third in the Big 12.

I think they will make big names for themselves in the NFL. But, hey—it's up to you.

NFL Divisional Playoff Preview and Picks

We have divisional playoffs this weekend. Eight great teams are in. A couple great teams have been left out. Last weekend, Arizona defeated the Falcons at home, San Diego defeated the red-hot Indianapolis Colts at home, Baltimore gave Miami a home playoff loss, and the Philadelphia Eagles stopped the Vikings from going any farther than their own backyard. It was a very exciting wild card week, but the divisional playoffs are this week. Which means better teams facing better teams. It gets a lot harder now.

Game 1: Baltimore (11-5) at Tennessee (13-3)

The Baltimore Ravens are quite the hot team right now. The Tennessee Titans are coming off of being shut out by the Indianapolis Colts, who got knocked out by the Chargers last weekend. Both of these teams are superb.

The Ravens have just an amazing defense, they can stop almost anything. But can they stop the duo of LenDale White and Chris Johnson? Or will quarterback Kerry Collins give the Ravens something they can't handle? Maybe the Ravens rookie quarterback Joe Flacco will show everyone how dangerous rookies can be.

My pick: Tennessee—They are just so dominant with everything they do. They beat the Ravens in October, I think they'll do it again.

Game 2: Arizona (9-7) at Carolina (12-4)

After clinching the NFC West a couple weeks ago, everyone thought the Cardinals would be out of it, having lost four of their last six games. They showed last weekend that they are all but out of it by defeating the Atlanta Falcons (11-5) at home. Now, the Carolina Panthers have just been so dominant this year. Everything they do, they do it with excellence. Can Pro Bowl quarterback Kurt Warner do what he did so well in the regular season? Or will Steve Smith and the Panthers continue taking teams out?

My pick: Carolina—Carolina is just so good this year, I don't think the Cardinals will be able to stop them, especially not at home.

Game 3: Philadelphia (9-6-1) at New York (12-4)

First of all, let me say, the Philadelphia Eagles have done what no one thought they could do, make the playoffs. The Eagles took out the Vikings last week and hope to move on to either Arizona or Carolina next week. One thing stands in their way though, and that is the No. 1 seed New York Giants.

The Eagles and the Giants know each other very well. They play in the same division, the NFC East. To make the playoffs, the Eagles had to beat the Giants at Giants Stadium, which they did. The Giants only lost once at home this year, that was to the Eagles. The Eagles need to step up their game to win this one. It'll be close.

My pick: Philadelphia—They've already beaten the Giants at home this year. If they play like they did against the Vikings, they will lose. Andy Reid needs to step up his game, which I think he will.

Game 4: San Diego (8-8) at Pittsburgh (12-4)

San Diego has also done the highly unlikely—make the playoffs. Now, San Diego's story is very interesting. They were down three games in their division, AFC West, with three games to go. Most everyone ruled them out. But then this crazy thing happened, they won two games, and the Broncos lost two games. So, the final game to be played happened to be between the Broncos and the Chargers, in San Diego. Long story short, the Chargers dominated that game, made the playoffs, and Mike Shannahan was fired.

Now the Steelers on the other hand, have been excellent all year. And now they have the AP Defensive Player of the Year, James Harrison. They've had him this whole year, but he was just given the honor. Personally, I think that will make him play harder, but maybe it's just me.

My pick: San Diego—I know, I know, I'm going with the underdog here. But the Chargers just have so much momentum, I think they could beat any team they face, even the Steelers.

Graham Harrell Runs Short of Cotton Bowl Victory, Gets Record in Process

The Cotton Bowl started the way every other Red Raider game had started, which is Tech getting the first points and looking dominant. The Red Raiders went up 14-0. Then, the game turned and the scores went like this: (Ole Miss on the left, Tech on the right) 0-7, 0-14, 7-14, 14-14, 14-21, 21-21, 24-21 at halftime. The Rebels had come up on top at halftime. Only two other teams had done this this year (Texas A&M and Baylor).

Well, Graham Harrell had an excellent day and a terrible day at the same time. Strange, huh? In the whole regular season, Harrell had thrown seven interceptions. The whole season. He threw two more to the Ole Miss Rebels, one being a pick-six.

But, when the Raiders went up 21-14, being caught by none other than Michael Crabtree, Harrell had the record for most touchdowns thrown in NCAA. He only needed two to have this and he got four today.

The receiver of the day for the Texas Tech Red Raiders was Edward Britton. Britton caught five receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

Crabtree looked like his ankle injury was bothering him quite a bit today because he only caught four passes today for 30 yards and that record breaking touchdown for Harrell.

Ole Miss dominated in rushing, just absolutely dominated. Bolden and McCluster combined for 199 yards and two touchdowns. Harrell was Tech's leading rusher today with four rushes for 52 yards. Right before halftime, Harrell ran for 44 yards and came three yards shy of a touchdown, which would've given Tech the lead at the half.

Ole Miss came out on top 47-34, a stunning victory to almost everyone. Texas Tech has gone, in the words of Tech guard Lonnie "Primo" McCurry, who played in the first Cotton Bowl Texas Tech played in (1939 vs. St. Mary's), "4-4, which means they have never won a Cotton Bowl."

*Note: Graham Harrell also threw for a 5,000 yard season this year. Another reason why he had a semi-good game.

Cotton Bowl Preview: Texas Tech Review

Tomorrow at 2:00 P.M. EST, Texas Tech and Ole Miss will play in the Cotton Bowl at Texas Stadium. Texas Tech (11-1) is trying to make this season the winningest in school history.

Team Health:

Quarterback Graham Harrell broke two fingers on his non-throwing hand in the last regular season game against Baylor. I have actually seen him since this incident. I can assure every Tech fan out there that he is fine now and is ready to go. He is listed as probable for the Cotton Bowl.

All-American wide receiver Michael Crabtree reportedly injured his ankle. He is listed as probable for the Cotton Bowl.

Running back Aaron Crawford has an injured toe for the Cotton Bowl. He is listed as questionable.

Defensive back De'Shon Sanders has a personal injury and is listed as doubtful for the Cotton Bowl.

Harrell and Crabtree are the only starters on the team. Crawford has only played two games this season and Sanders was a reserve defensive back. As far as I know, everyone else is healthy to go!

Everyone knows that Texas Tech has excellent quality players, in both football and academics. Graham Harrell is one of the best quarterbacks in the nation, Michael Crabtree IS the best wide receiver in college football, perhaps the whole nation, and they're surrounded by great talent.

This will be quarterback Graham Harrell's last game as a Red Raider. These are the seniors who will hopefully be entering the NFL draft this year.

QB Graham Harrell

CB Marcus Bunton

S Daniel Charbonnet

K Cory Fowler

S Lance Fuller

WR J.J. Griffin

S Anthony Hines

OL Jake Johnson

S Darcel McBath

WR Eric Morris

DE Jake Ratliff

S L.A. Reed

OL Rylan Reed

S Jordy Rowland

DE Brandon Sharpe

OL Louis Vasquez

RB Shannon Woods

We salute these 17 fine athletes on a great season! Let's win the last one for them! Wreck 'em Tech!

Why Texas Tech Will Win the Cotton Bowl

For many Red Raider fans, the picture of Graham Harrell is the face of hope. Graham Harrell has done what every quarterback dreams of doing. He has led Texas Tech to three and a half great seasons, had record–breaking statistics, and is only two touchdowns away from eclipsing Colt Brennan's NCAA record of 131 touchdown passes thrown.

Graham Harrell is the reason Texas Tech will defeat Ole Miss on January 2nd. He is probably not the happiest person, since he was unfairly omitted from the Heisman Trophy award banquet.

The Red Raiders also feel they were screwed out of a BCS Bowl since they beat Texas head-to-head.

But these reasons will make Texas Tech, and in particular Graham Harrell, want to win even more.

Along with two–time Biletnikoff Award winner, Michael Crabtree, the Red Raiders are set to do what they've done all year long.

They are going to play their hardest and win. Win for themselves, win for the school, and win for their fans. And the fans need a win.

The opponent in the Cotton Bowl, Ole Miss (8–4), is coming off a five game winning streak. Texas Tech, is coming off of a close win at Baylor (4–8).

Now, some may say the close win in Waco will slow down the Red Raiders. I don't think it will.

The Oklahoma loss, because of the final margin, shocked every single person. Texas Tech is the best and the people know this. We can all agree that even the best has to lose at some point.

Here's what I think: Texas Tech should be in a BCS bowl. If not the National Championship Game, then at least the Fiesta Bowl.

Not being invited to any BCS bowl hurt the entire Red Raider nation. We have to show them that we are the best by winning.

Personally, I think we have an easy bowl. The BCS system favors teams that do better in the end rather than earlier in the season. This is common knowledge. If the loss to Oklahoma occurred at the beginning of the season, Texas Tech would be in a BCS bowl.

The Red Raiders have to show the BCS it was wrong. This is why Texas Tech will win the Cotton Bowl.

We have faith in Graham Harrell, Michael Crabtree, and Mike Leach. We trust in the other great players. We believe all of the Red Raiders will play their best.

Because of these reasons, Texas Tech will win the Cotton Bowl.

Have a great new year and wreck 'em Tech!!!

NFL Playoff Picture Taking Shape: Are You Ready for Some Football?

Week 17. Wow, the NFL season always seems to come too late and leave too soon. Many teams are out of the playoff race, while others need a win, and still some need a win and other things to happen. It's gonna be a crazy week.

Who is already in the playoffs: These teams have already clinched a spot in the playoffs and are looking to go in to the playoffs with a win.

AFC

Tennessee Titans (Division winner)

Pittsburgh Steelers (Division winner)

Indianapolis Colts (Wild-card)

NFC

New York Giants (Division winner)

Arizona Cardinals (Division winner)

Carolina Panthers (At least wild-card)

Atlanta Falcons (At least wild-card)

Who is still alive? There are many teams still looking for a playoff berth. The teams still alive are:

AFC

Miami Dolphins (Looking for division title/wild-card)

New England Patriots (Looking for division title/wild-card)

New York Jets (Looking for division title/wild-card)

Baltimore Ravens (Looking for wild-card)

Denver Broncos (Looking for division title)

San Diego Chargers (Looking for division title)

NFC

Dallas Cowboys (Looking for wild-card)

Philadelphia Eagles (Looking for wild-card)

Minnesota Vikings (Looking for division title/wild-card)

Chicago Bears (Looking for division title/wild-card)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Looking for wild-card)

Let's see the most critical matchups this week.

AFC

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets

This is a must win for both teams. If the Dolphins win, they're in. If the Jets win and the Patriots lose, the Jets are in.

New England at Buffalo

New England needs to win and hope Miami loses. Buffalo, rival of the Patriots, will most definitely be trying to play spoiler.

Jacksonville at Baltimore

If Baltimore wins this, they have themselves a wild-card spot. If they lose, they'll need New England and New York (Jets) to lose to get a playoff berth.

Denver at San Diego

Quite possibly the biggest game of all the games this week. Whoever wins this also wins the AFC West. Can Denver cap a two-game losing streak or will San Diego keep their three-game win streak alive?

NFC

Chicago at Houston

The Bears are looking for a division title or a wild card. A win could supply either. A win may not get it done though. If they win, they'll need either Minnesota to lose for the division title, or Dallas and Tampa Bay to lose for the wild card.

New York at Minnesota

The Giants are already in, but they will probably want to go in to the playoffs with a win. The Vikings don't need to win this one, it would help, but they don't need to win. If they lose and the Bears lose, they still advance. A win would be needed if the Bears also win.

Oakland at Tampa Bay

Will this home game for the Bucs keep the season alive? Can they end a three-game losing streak? Oakland seems like an easy team to beat, but I'm sure they'd just love to ruin a season.

Dallas at Philadelphia

Philadelphia, the surprise team still alive, started the season 2-3, last in the NFC East. They've turned it around, but with the loss last week, can they come away with a wild-card spot? Philadelphia needs to win and hope Tampa Bay and Chicago or Minnesota lose. Dallas just needs to win for a playoff berth.

There's a lot of exciting games going on this week. Are you ready for some football?

The Top 5 Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys of All Time

Like many teams, the Philadelphia Eagles have had many jerseys. Some are better than others. Some just blow you away with awesomeness. Others don't blow you away with awesomeness. Although all Eagles jerseys are filled with awesomeness, these are my top five.

I hope you enjoy them!

*Note: Some were not included because I could not find pictures of them, sorry if your favorite was not included. Getty Images is amazing, but does not carry as many old photos.
Begin Slideshow

Philadelphia Eagles' Heartbreak Loss Leaves Wild-Card Spot to Chance

Everyone in Philadelphia was doing one thing: hoping. In my past articles, I've written a lot about hope. Sometimes you just need more to get the things you want.

The Eagles lost a heart breaker to the Washington Redskins this afternoon (I'm not sure if I can finish this in 14 minutes to call it this afternoon). The score was 10-3 in favor of the Redskins.

What lost the game? Lack of defense? Lack of offense? The answer is yes. Lack of all-around play. But really, lack of hope. We got too excited over the Dallas and Tampa losses. But what did we do? The exact same thing.

Now, with one game left to play, the Eagles are 8-6-1, a half game back from the final wild card spot. Behind Dallas and Tampa Bay, both 9-6.

We are going to need lot's of things to prepare for our final game against Dallas. What are we going to need?

A win... self explanatory

A loss from Tampa Bay

To pass and run the football

To play defense like the rankings show us, third-best

We have a chance to get in. A very good chance. But, will chance be with us, or will it be with Dallas/Tampa Bay? (Dallas has the tiebreaker)

What Tampa Bay needs to get into the playoffs:

A win... again, self explanatory

A win from the Eagles

To play like they did the beginning of the season

To not give in to pressure

Tampa Bay plays Oakland (4-11) next week to finish off the season. Maybe, the Raiders will be with us through our time of need and answer us with a win. Let's hope they do.

What Dallas needs to get into the playoffs:

A win.

That's it. Simple as that. Chance is either playing a joke on us Eagles fans, or is really with us.

Now, Chicago is still alive in the wild-card hunt. Or possibly Minnesota. But, being an NFC North hater, I firmly believe they will not make it :). But, to get in, they must:

Win

Hope Tampa Bay and Dallas lose

If the Bears win Monday night, they have a very good shot at the wild card, or the NFC North title. So, let's hope Green Bay and Houston get it done ;).

Let's work on what the Eagles can do. Hhmmm. Oh! I got it. One very simple thing to do.

Play like you did before this loss

That's it. Can they do it? I sure hope so.

Dallas Cowboys Lose, Leave Philadelphia Eagles in Better Position For Wild Card

Last night, wow, I can't believe I'm still up to have to call it that. It feels like it was tonight, but the Ravens defeated the Cowboys 33-24 in the last regular season game in Texas Stadium. Philadelphia Eagles fans hope it is the last game played in Texas Stadium.

With the loss, the Eagles move ahead of the Dallas Cowboys, but that didn't really matter in the rankings. It's just a little momentum booster. There was no way both the Cowboys and the Eagles could make the playoffs, having Dallas close the season in Philadelphia.

Now with Dallas fighting for it's life, the Eagles hope to jump even farther ahead of the Cowboys. Everyone knows with the loss, Dallas possibly just ruined its playoff chances. It's kind of sad to see how things turn around. But, the Eagles do not care about the sob story in Dallas. They have their own destiny to change!

The loss lets the Eagles know that Dallas will be going into the last game with a one game losing streak. Let's really put the hurt on the Cowboys. All we have to do is win. How hard is that when you have two division rivals left to play? Oh, don't get me wrong, it's very hard, but, I think the Eagles can do it.

Hopefully the Eagles will beat the Redskins today. I use the word "hope" or "hopefully" a lot. It makes me nervous, but if I were 100% sure, the Eagles would have a 19-0 season. Hopefully, Atlanta or Tampa Bay will lose, but I'm pretty sure one of them will lose. I'm very confident in the Eagles.

A message to all Eagles fans: Do not lose hope just because we are half a game behind in the wild card race. Anything can happen. Hold on tight. Hope.

Why the Philadelphia Eagles Will Win the Super Bowl: A Fan's Story of Hope

Yes, I believe the Philadelphia Eagles will win the Super Bowl. Yes, this is a biased Eagles fan writing.

The Eagles are hot. Really hot. They will go to the playoffs. But they are going to need some help. They are going to need help from many people. Let me explain.

Brian Westbrook is the best all-around running back in the NFL. No question about it. He is the best; deal with it.

Once he is 100 percent, the Eagles will dominate. The Eagles are going to have to get to the playoffs with a 90 percent Brian Westbrook, which is still better than most running backs (no offense).

Westbrook will return to 100 percent. I'm hoping he gets better before the playoffs. He needs rest; I'm not suggesting don't play him the next game or two, because we need him, I'm just saying maybe play him less to prepare for the playoffs—because we are going.

Andy Reid, why must you scare everyone by not being you in the beginning of the season? Now that you're back, you had better stay that way. We need you to get to the playoffs. Without you being you, we may not go.

Jim Johnson, I love you. And I love our third-best defense. Keep it up!

Donovan McNabb is one of the best quarterbacks, above average in every category. Why haven't we secured a spot in the playoffs? You guys are scaring me, so I have a message to McNabb:

Dear Mr. McNabb,

I am a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan. I have some insider information you might like to know. It's about how to get to the playoffs/win the Superbowl.

Here it is: Be the Donovan McNabb from the 2004 season. That's it. Only, be better. Spread out your throws, we have some good receivers in DeSean Jackson, Jason Avant, Hank Baskett, etc. And try the run thing out again, you might still have it.

Sincerely,

Benjy Miller, die-hard Eagles fan

P.S.: I would really like to meet you, if you wanted to send me like an autograph or something, that would be great!

DeSean Jackson was a great draft pick. All you have to do, DeSean, is run your route correctly and catch the balls thrown to you, OK? That's your only job. Sounds simple, no? It's going to be very hard. I trust you, Jackson!

The Atlanta Falcons/Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to be key teams in our quest for the playoffs. Here's how you can help us. Come close, I'm going to tell you a secret. LOSE!!!!! That's it, very simple, eh?

Correll Buckhalter, you're a great running back. How does it feel to be in Brian Westbrook's shoes? Pretty nice, huh? Well, we need you to live up to Westbrook's expectation while he's not 100 percent. Can you do it? This is, quite possibly, the most difficult job out of everyone, but, I trust you.

The Philadelphia Eagles, including those I named, you guys are awesome. Win the rest of the games for the Eagles fans everywhere. We believe in you, we trust you, we know you can do it. So, do it for us, please.

OK, after you guys have gotten into the playoffs, it's time to...stay hot! I know you can do it. Don't let any of these other teams fool you, they're no better than you. You can beat all of them, I know it. Because I've gone into the future, I've seen what happens, but I can not tell anyone, as it may alter history.

Do you even know why you're going to win the Super Bowl? It's a little thing called "hope." I hope. Eagles fans hope. Everyone hopes.

Let's keep this season going for the better! We can do it; I know we can!

Drama in Dallas: Will It Effect Playoff Hopes?

Philadelphia Eagles fans can only hope so. News of Terrell Owens, Tony Romo, and tight-end Jason Whitten has been going around for quite some time now. But, will it throw off their game? We can only hope.

The Cowboys won against the struggling New York Giants last week. This was after reports that Owens was "jealous" of Romo and Whitten making secret plays. The Cowboys need to win this critical game against the Ravens, not necessarily to keep playoff hopes alive, but to increase their chances of going.

The Philadelphia Eagles go into this week playing a 7-7 Washington Redskins team that has been struggling. Philadelphia needs to win; no ifs, ands, or buts here. The Redskins are on a three-game losing streak. They started the year 6-2, but it's been all downhill from there. They are now out of playoff contention.

The Eagles, on the other hand, are on a three-game winning streak and could possibly be the hottest team in the NFL. Whatever it is they are doing, they had better keep at it. After starting the year 2-3, last in the NFC East, it appeared that the playoffs would not happen. But did that stop McNabb and the Eagles? No.

The Eagles end the season at home against Dallas. The last game played between the Eagles and Cowboys was no good for either fantasy defense. The score was 37-41 in favor of the Cowboys. Let's show the Cowboys we are for real!

Even with star running back, Brian Westbrook, out with injuries, the Eagles have found ways to win games, and boy, have they needed them! With just two weeks left to go, the Eagles find themselves in position to take over a wild card position. All they have to do, is win the rest of their games, and pray that Atlanta or Tampa Bay loses at least one game.

Or, they could always do this the tricky way. They could win one game, preferably against the Cowboys, and hope that the Falcons, Buccaneers, and the Bears lose the rest of their games. Seems unreal, huh? We thought playoff hopes were unreal in week 11 when we were 5-5-1. Great time to get hot, let's just stay hot and advance to the wild card game!

I believe, do you?

Now I have to go babysit for a Cowboys fan, wish me luck! ;)

Why Graham Harrell Should Have Won The Heisman Trophy (or at Least Been Invited)

This season, Graham Harrell led the Texas Tech Red Raiders to a nearly flawless season. He also put up some pretty big numbers. So, why wasn't he invited to attend the Heisman Trophy presentation?

This year is quite possibly one of Harrell's best. He threw 568 times and completed 406 of them, an average of 71.5% complete, better than Heisman winner, Sam Bradford's 68.3%.

If it's because Harrell is not a rushing quarterback, that's wrong. He ran for -58 yards this year, but don't forget his six rushing touchdowns, better than Bradford's five rushing touchdowns.

Harrell has an excellent passer rating, 163.0. Although all of the athletes invited to the Heisman presentation are better, why turn someone down who is this solid?

Harrell has 41 passing touchdowns on the year, better than Heisman runner-ups, Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy.

Finally, Harrell threw for 4,747 yards this year. Better than ALL of the Heisman finalists.

Some may say it's because Texas Tech had a weak schedule. Tell me, is playing 4 ranked teams, 3 in the top ten, in a row weak? Yes, they got slaughtered by the Sooners, but that is the most brutal 4 weeks anyone had. They put a beating on then ranked #19 Kansas. They upset then ranked #1 Texas. They destroyed then ranked #8 Oklahoma State. All of these wouldn't have happened if Harrell wasn't Texas Tech's quarterback.

Mike Leach can tell you, better than anyone, why this happened. "If Graham is not invited to the Heisman, they ought to quit giving out the award. It is a shameless example of politics ruling over performance."

WHY I'M SEMI-HAPPY GRAHAM HARRELL DIDN'T GO: (no offense, Graham)

So you're probably like,"WHAT?!?!?! How the heck are you semi-happy?!?!!" Well, it's simple. I was taking a trip with my family to Disney World when an awards show was happening. We decided to go to the ESPN Club (as usual, the service was crappy and the food average.) But guess who showed up? That's right, Graham Harrell was at the ESPN Club the same day I was. I got to meet him, talk to him a little bit, talk to his mom a little bit, shake his hand, etc. Graham Harrell is my favorite player, above may be a little biased towards him ;). I will never forget that day. But Graham, I really wish you could've been there.

Eagles' Playoff Hopes Grow

Wow.

That is what many people are saying about the Philadelphia Eagles as they kept playoff hopes alive with their third straight win. The Eagles' playoff chances grew as they defeated the Cleveland Browns 30-10 last night.

The Eagles, now 8-5-1, trail in the wild card race by only half a game. They are behind Tampa Bay, Dallas, and Atlanta. Let's look at the competitors.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Remaining Schedule: San Diego, 6-8, and the Oakland Raiders, 3-11.

Can the struggling Buccaneers defeat what appears to be an easy schedule?

Dallas Cowboys

Remaining Schedule: Baltimore Ravens, 9-5, and the Philadelphia Eagles, 8-5-1.

Eagles fans hope for some revenge against Dallas after their 41-37 loss in September.

Atlanta Falcons

Remaining Schedule: Minnesota Vikings, 9-5, and the St. Louis Rams, 2-12.

The Vikings are in a tight spot for the NFC North title, so they will do everything they can to win the game against the Falcons.

Philadelphia Eagles

Remaining Schedule: Washington Redskins, 7-7, and the Dallas Cowboys, 9-5.

Can the Eagles do it? Well, if they continue playing the way they have been, they can most certainly win those games.

Should MLS Teams Be Paying Foreign Players This Much?

Have you ever wondered what the most popular sport is in the United States? What about the fastest growing? Well, as I'm sure most of you know, football, is the most popular sport in the United States. Then comes baseball, basketball, hockey, and golf.

Well, the MLS can see that they are not as popular as soccer is in Europe. So, what are they doing about it?

The MLS, Major League Soccer, will probably never be as popular as the European leagues. Just because soccer is the most popular sport in Europe and a lot of other foreign countries. But, since soccer is the most popular sport in the world, why not import European players to the MLS to make it more popular in the United States?

This is what we have resorted to. Instead of finding our own American talent, we chose to import players to become more popular. Seems like a good idea, right? Well, it is definitely bringing in more money for some clubs, but is it worth paying them so much to have them play here?

The top five salaries go like this: (From most to least)

1. David Beckham - Los Angeles Galaxy - $5,500,000 base salary

2. Cuauhtemoc Blanco - Chicago Fire - $2,492,316 base salary

3. Juan Pablo Angel - New York Red Bull - $1,500,000 base salary

3. Marcelo Gallardo - D.C. United - $1,500,000 base salary

5. Landon Donovan - Los Angeles Galaxy - $900,000 base salary

Most of the men on this list have been imported from a European club.

Now, if you're a big fan of the MLS, you know that the pay is not very good at all, averaging around $85,000 a couple years ago. So, the question is, should the MLS continue importing players from foreign countries like Europe? Or should they focus on the talent they have in America and bring up the average salary?

Chargers-Raiders: Thursday Night Football Preview

This Thursday, the Oakland Raiders travel to San Diego to face off against the Chargers. The Chargers need a win to stay in the playoff picture. With them being three games behind the Broncos, they will need to win the rest of their games and hope the Broncos lose the rest of theirs. Let's look at this matchup.

Offense

The Chargers are always a threat when they have LaDainian Tomlinson and Philip Rivers. The Raiders could strike at any time with JaMarcus Russell and company. The last game played between the Chargers and the Raiders was a close one.

The Raiders had 28 more yards of total offense than the Chargers, but that didn't stop them. The Chargers nearly doubled the Raiders yards in rushing while the Raiders had 97 more passing yards.

Defense

The Raiders have slightly better defense than the Chargers, averaging .7 less points scored against them. But, the big question is, can they stop L.T.? Last game, the Raiders had him covered pretty well in the third quarter but couldn't catch him in the fourth. If the Raiders can stop L.T., then they have a good shot at winning this game.

Will the Raiders try and play spoiler to the San Diego Chargers? Or will they lose this game to get a better draft pick? One thing is clear, this is a must-win game for the Chargers. If they lose this, all chances for a playoff spot, and a winning season, are gone.

Who's Better, Michael Crabtree or Dez Bryant?

Michael Crabtree and Dez Bryant are the two best wide receivers in college football, both entering their sophomore year, but who's better? People will say Crabtree because he won the Biletnikoff award, but let's check and see.

FRESHMAN STATS:

Michael Crabtree: Played 13 games, had 134 receptions for 1962 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Dez Bryant: Played 11 games, had 43 receptions for 622 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Crabtree: Averaged 14.6 yards per catch.

Bryant: Averaged 14.5 yards per catch.

Crabtree: Averaged 150.9 yards per game.

Bryant: Averaged 56.5 yards per game.

As you can see, Crabtree was far superior his freshman year.

SOPHOMORE STATS:

Michael Crabtree: (So far) Played 12 games, has 93 receptions for 1135 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Dez Bryant: (So far) Played 11 games, has 74 receptions for 1313 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Crabtree: Averaging 12.2 yards per catch.

Bryant: Averaging 17.7 yards per catch.

Crabtree: Averaging 94.6 yards per game.

Bryant: Averaging 119.4 yards per game.

So, it looks like Bryant is having the better year so far, but overall, who's better?

BOTH YEARS COMBINED:

Michael Crabtree: Played 25 games, has 227 receptions for 3097 yards and 40 touchdowns.

Dez Bryant: Played 22 games, has 117 receptions for 1935 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Crabtree: Averaging 13.4 yards per catch.

Bryant: Averaging 16.1 yards per catch.

Crabtree: Averaging 123.9 yards per game.

Bryant: Averaging 88.0 yards per game.

So, who is the better receiver?

Andy Reid: In or Out?

There's been some talk on whether or not Philadelphia Eagles head coach, Andy Reid, will stay head coach for the 2009 season.

Andy, you've done a great job at head coach, but are you losing your touch? Let's look back a couple seasons.

1999 - Andy Reid named head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. He led them to a 5-11 season and was last in the NFC East.

2000 - Andy Reid reversed the record of the Eagles, 11-5 and led them to the NFC Divisional game but lost to the New York Giants.

2001 - Andy Reid led the Eagles to another 11-5 season but lost to the St. Louis Rams in the NFC Championship game.

2002 - Andy Reid led the Eagles to a 12-4 season, but ended up losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship game.

2003 - Andy Reid kept the same record, 12-4, but lost to the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship game.

2004 - Andy Reid led the Eagles to a 13-3 season and went to the Super Bowl. The Eagles lost the Super Bowl to the New England Patriots.

2005 - Andy Reid led the Eagles to their second losing season under him, 6-10.

2006 - Andy Reid reversed last seasons record, 10-6, but lost to the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Divisional game.

2007 - Andy Reid led the Eagles to a .500 season, 8-8.

As you can see from this, Andy Reid is falling. He did lead the Eagles to a Super bowl, but I believe his time in Philadelphia is coming to an end. Overall, his record with the Eagles is .620%. In the playoffs, he is .571%.

Those numbers look good, but in the past three years, Andy Reid's Eagles are just above .500%, which may seem good, but in the NFC East, the toughest division in my opinion, is not very good.

Philadelphia Eagles: How To Get a Playoff Berth

Okay, so you're 6-5-1 with four games to play. Oh, and you're also five games back from the leader of the NFC East (NY Giants). How in the world are you going to get into the playoffs?

REMAINING SCHEDULE

The Eagles' remaining schedule looks very difficult, especially playing games against teams they've already lost to this season.

Philadelphia Eagles (6-5-1) at New York Giants (11-1) - Sunday, Dec. 7 1:00 PM EST

Last game played between the Eagles and the Giants, Philadelphia 31, New York Giants 36. But, that game was at home for the Eagles, maybe they'll have better luck in Giants Stadium.

Cleveland Browns (4-8) at Philadelphia Eagles (6-5-1) - Monday, Dec. 15, 8:30 PM EST

Last game played between the Eagles and Browns, Philadelphia 20, Cleveland Browns 7. But, that game was played in the 2006 preseason, and I guarantee that things have changed.

Philadelphia Eagles (6-5-1) at Washington Redskins (7-5) - Sunday, Dec. 21, 1:00 PM EST

Last game played between the Eagles and the Redskins, Philadelphia 17, Washington 23. This game was played in the beginning of the season at Lincoln Financial Field. Maybe they'll have better luck in FedEx Field.

Dallas Cowboys (8-4) at Philadelphia Eagles (6-5-1) - Sunday, Dec. 21, 1:00 PM EST

Last game played between the Eagles and the Cowboys, Philadelphia 37, Dallas 41. This game was played at Texas Stadium, maybe Lincoln Financial will give the Eagles a win for their last regular-season game.

So, as their remaining schedule goes, I think they may have one of the toughest. The Eagles are falling farther back every week. They need some wins, and some losses by other teams.

PLAYOFF POSITION AS OF TODAY

Division leaders: New York Giants (11-1), Minnesota Vikings (7-5), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-3), Arizona Cardinals (7-5).

Wild card leaders: Carolina Panthers (9-3), TIE Dallas Cowboys (8-4) and Atlanta Falcons (8-4).

Still in the running: Washington Redskins (7-5), Philadelphia Eagles (6-5-1), Chicago Bears (6-6), New Orleans Saints (6-6), Green Bay Packers (5-7), and the San Francisco 49ers (4-8).

I'm not saying it won't happen, but they will need a miracle to pull this one off.

SEC Or Big 12?

Two of the biggest games in college football this season are being played Saturday.

SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME:

The Alabama Crimson Tide face off with the Florida Gators at 4 p.m. EST Saturday. Oh, and whoever wins goes to the National Championship game. So, who's better?

The Crimson Tide (1) have a 79 SOS ranking. The Florida Gators (2) have an 11 SOS ranking. The Crimson Tide are 12-0. The Florida Gators, 11-1, only losing to Ole Miss. In the AP poll, they are ranked the same. In the coaches' poll, Alabama is ranked first while the Gators are ranked fourth. But one thing is clear, whoever wins this game will represent the SEC in the National Championship game. The question, is who will it be?

BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME:

The Oklahoma Sooners (4) take on the Missouri Tigers (19) in Kansas City, MO, Saturday at 8 p.m. EST. There can only be two outcomes of this game.

1. Oklahoma wins and goes on to take on the Alabama/Florida winner.

or

2. Missouri wins and gets a BCS bid while Texas goes on to play either Alabama or Florida.

Now, Oklahoma has only lost to Texas this year. Missouri, on the other hand, has lost three games and is coming in off a 40-37 loss to Kansas.

Oklahoma has scored at least 61 points in its last four games and is red hot. Heisman hopeful Sam Bradford tore ligaments in his non-throwing hand in Oklahoma's win against Oklahoma State. That might be able to slow Oklahoma down, but Missouri will still need to play superb defense.

Missouri needs its defense to be on top of its game to win this one, and Oklahoma just needs to keep playing like it has been to win.

OTHER GAMES THIS WEEK:

(15)Ball State v Buffalo - Friday 8 p.m. EST

(23) Pittsburgh v Connecticut - Saturday 12 p.m. EST

(20) Boston College v Virginia Tech - 1 p.m. EST

(5) USC v UCLA - 4:30 p.m. EST

(16) Cincinnati v Hawaii - 11:30 p.m. EST

Week 14 Power Rankings

Have you ever wondered how your team ranks between all the teams?

These are my power rankings through Week 13.

1. Tennessee Titans: 11-1 (*)

The Titans are the best team in football. They explode with rushing and have solid passing to back it up.

2. New York Giants: 11-1 (*)

The defending Super Bowl champions look great this year and have only lost to the Browns.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers: 9-3 (*)

The Pittsburgh Steelers look like a team who can win the Superbowl this year having great passing, rushing, and defense.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 9-3 (*)

The Buccaneers look as if they may win the NFC South this year. Next game is a must win for them to stay in first.

5. Carolina Panthers: 9-3 (W)

Great passing and rushing is what has kept this team in the running for NFC South champion this year. Must win against the Bucs next week.

6. New York Jets: 8-4 (*)

The Jets look solid this year. Brett Favre has adjusted well, and the Jets may win the AFC East.

7. Atlanta Falcons: 8-4 (W)

Wow, what a season. Matt Ryan and the Falcons are making a statement, proving they have changed a lot since their 4-12 season last year.

8. Dallas Cowboys: 8-4 (W)

The Cowboys looked like they were falling earlier this season. But Tony Romo came through and the Cowboys hope for an NFC East championship, or at least a wild-card spot.

9. Indianapolis Colts: 8-4 (W)

They started the year off badly. But they now have a five-game winning streak going into two games where they should win.

10. Baltimore Ravens: 8-4 (W)

The Ravens started the season at 2-3. They are turning that around by winning six out of their last seven games.

11. Washington Redskins: 7-5 (W)

Usually, around this time of year the Redskins are in last place. Not this year, they have been proving that they are not the weakest in the NFC East.

12. Miami Dolphins: 7-5 (W)

Wow, what a great season for the Dolphins. After coming off a 1-15 season last year, the Dolphins have really turned things around.

13. New England Patriots: 7-5 (W)

Matt Cassell could possibly be the best quarterback in the league at this time. Proving they don't need Brady to have a winning season, the Patriots just hope for a playoff spot.

14. Denver Broncos: 7-5 (*)

Yes, the Broncos lose games they shouldn't and win games they shouldn't, but they control the AFC West by three games and things are looking good for them.

15. Arizona Cardinals: 7-5 (*)

All they need is a win or a San Francisco loss to clinch the NFC West. Kurt Warner is having a fantastic season and they should clinch.

16. Minnesota Vikings: 7-5 (*)

Coming off of a huge win against the Bears, the Vikings now control the NFC North.

17. Philadelphia Eagles: 6-5-1 (W)

The Eagles need Westbrook in order to win their games. If the Eagles can win their next game against the Giants, I believe they can make a wild-card spot.

18. New Orleans Saints: 6-6 (W)

Brees and the Saints need to win the rest of their games for a spot in the playoffs.

19. Buffalo Bills: 6-6 (W)

All that the Bills need to do in order to clinch is to win the rest of their games and hope the Patriots, Dolphins, and Jets lose. It can happen.

20. Chicago Bears: 6-6 (W)

Two-hundred-and-five attempts without an interception for Orton. Then he throws three interceptions. The Bears had the lead early in the game against the Vikings, but they blew it. It seems like they do that a lot. They still have a shot at winning the NFC North though.

21. Green Bay Packers: 5-7 (W)

I believe in Aaron Rodgers! Everyone is going to need to believe in him for the Packers to come through with an NFC North title.

22. Houston Texans: 5-7 (W)

All they need now is a miracle. Coming off a key win at home against the Jaguars, all the Texans need to do to even hope for a playoff spot is win and hope that everyone else loses. It's a long shot, but it just might happen.

23. San Francisco 49ers: 4-8 (W)

If they win the rest of their games and the Cardinals lose the rest of theirs, they have found themselves a playoff spot as NFC West champion.

24. San Diego Chargers: 4-8 (W)

If they win the rest of their games and the Broncos lose the rest of theirs, they will go to the playoffs as AFC West champion.

25. Cleveland Browns: 4-8 (O)

Yea, they have no shot at the playoffs, but hey, they beat the Giants.

26. Jacksonville Jaguars: 4-8 (O)

All is lost after a loss to the Houston Texans.

27. Oakland Raiders: 3-9 (O)

They have no shot at the playoffs. But they helped the Chargers out by defeating Denver two weeks ago.

28. Kansas City Chiefs: 2-10 (O)

Yes, they could possibly be the worst team in the AFC, but at least they won two.

29. Seattle Seahawks: 2-10 (O)

Having only beaten two of the worst teams in the NFC, the Seahawks better start preparing for next season.

30. St. Louis Rams: 2-10 (O)

St. Louis tends to be very streaky. Lose four, win two, lose six... Who knows, maybe they'll put together a better team next year and at least have a winning season.

31. Cincinnati Bengals: 1-10-1 (O)

The Bengals are having a horrid season this year. It looks as though they're records have been dropping ever since winning the AFC North in '05.

32. Detroit Lions: 0-12 (O)

What a shocker. The Detroit Lions are the worst team in football. They may become the NFL's first 0-16 team. With their remaining schedule, Lion's fans need to cheer their team on extra hard!

Key- (*) = division leader, (W) = has a chance, (O) = out

MNF Preview

The Jacksonville Jaguars (4-7) travel to Reliant Stadium tonight to face off with the Houston Texans (4-7). This is a game that will decide who is in last place in the AFC South.

With only four games left after this one, this is a must-win for both teams. Winning the AFC South is out of the question with the Titans leading. With the wild card going to Indianapolis (8-4) and Baltimore (8-4), Jacksonville and Houston will have to hope for a miracle to come out with a playoff spot.

The last game played between the Jaguars and the Texans was an OT victory coming in the favor of the Jaguars.

Jacksonville will need to stop a two-game losing streak in order to have a shot at the playoffs. Houston, coming off a win in Cleveland last week, will need to continue their streak.

The Texans average 371.3 ypg in total offense, which is fourth in the NFL. The Jaguars, on the other hand, average 314.8 ypg in total offense. The Texans are fourth in the NFL in passing, too, averaging 257.2 ypg. The Jaguars are 18th in the NFL averaging 204.6 ypg.

In the stats, the Jaguars are better than the Texans in only one category, but I feel that it is the most important statistic, total yards allowed. The Texans average 333.9 ypg, while the Jaguars average 318.9 ypg.

Defense wins championships. But first, defense must win games. I believe that whoever has the best defense in this game will come out on top and have a shot at the AFC wild card. It seems like it may be impossible, but if a lot of stuff happens, whoever wins this game CAN find itself in an AFC wild card position.
