Shockey and the G-Men Need to Part Ways

After going down with a broken leg in Week 15 against the Washington Redskins, Shockey has been on IR, and the Giants have been playing their best football in years.

In his absence, Eli Manning has been able to control his huddle. Manning is normally a very shy, quiet kid.

Shockey is very loud and outspoken. It is not good when your tight end takes the attention away from the only person with any importance in the huddle, the quarterback.

The Giants ended up getting lucky with Tiki Barber's early retirment last year. He was another player who spoke out againt the coaching staff and started to tear the locker room apart.

Shockey is a negative force in the Giant's huddle. This is not to say that he is not one of the best tight ends in the league because he is.

He just doesn't fit in the Giants offense. He would be a great bargaining chip. The Giants should trade him for a good D-back to start improving that secondary. If they can't trade for a D-back, they should be able to get some decent draft picks for him.

Something needs to be done now.

Someone who plays with as much passion and with such a lack of fear of getting hurt should have no problem finding a home

Two places I could see him going are still in New York: the Bills and the Jets
