Too Early To Post a Grade For The Mavericks Draft Picks?

I was talking to a few Dads at my sons Football practice Sunday evening, and everyone was giving the Dallas Mavericks a Pre-Season Eulogy. No Shaq, No LeBron James, No Dwyane Wade, No Chris Bosh...No Playoffs!

No General Manager, No Lottery Pick, No Center, No Trade, No Playoffs!

Are their feelings premature?

Are we being fair to the Dallas Maverick Organization?

The fact that we got two point guards is overshadowed by the notion that our Division Rivals all got better and we almost did nothing.

I was pleased with the B.J. Mullins trade. Yes he has potential, but we need immediate help in the post, and I don't think he is better than Ryan Hollins.

Both young point guards are better than us not having anyone but Jason Kidd and JJ Barea for 82 games.

Very few Locals believe that Mark Cuban knows what he is doing right now.

It feels like he is distracted by recent legal issues and a never ending feud with The David Stern Mafioso Family?

Some of the dads felt like we need a New owner for us to ever get a fair chance to compete for a Title?

Some feel we just need a Better General Manager. Is Donnie Nelson that guy?

Will Rick Carlisle be a difference maker this year after a Full season with HIS type of Players?

I was pleased that we advanced pass the San Antonio Spurs this post season, but they just improved their roster and appear to have potentially passed us again in the early posturing for Division Title favorites.

The Houston Rockets improved again, and will get Tracy McGrady back on a team that was already in contention without him?

I just don't have much to say about this Draft in regards to my Dallas Mavericks.

It appears that I must Pray for Mark Cuban, and Donnie Nelson in the Hope that they have a Plan that will work much better than we can predict.

Please tell me ANYTHING positive that you saw in regards to the Dallas Mavericks Draft Decisions in 2009...I'm listening.

The Jason Kidd Trade Update: April 30, 2009

Dallas Mavericks article for Bleacher Report and Kirk Lockharts Blogs

The Dallas Mavericks are officially redeemed for trading Devin Harris.

Many fair-weathered fans claimed to have been so against the Jason Kidd trade when it was first announced.

I have so many documented statements from writers and fans alike that claimed
that it was a good idea.

My own brother absolutely despised watching Harris in the fourth quarter of Maverick games. He said he made too many errors to be the point guard (leader) of a championship-caliber team.

I thought Devin should have been more confident after three seasons as a backup and finally getting his chance to start every game. But he was full of massive potential
due to his quickness and slashing ability. Plus he always annoyed Tony Parker.

Well we shipped off the Tony Parker killer and got the OLD Man who could try to run our unfamiliar offense here in Dallas.

Jason Kidd.

Jason Kidd brought confidence and experience to the most important position in a five-man starting lineup..POINT GUARD!

He doesn't score much anymore—sometimes not at all.
But we got better as a team with him running the show.

Avery didn't appear to let either Harris or Kidd run the show when he was our general.

But Now Rick Carlisle has made the decision to live or die by the plate you were given.
And at the moment, we are living well by that plate.

It might not be the popular perspective, but Kidd's Mavericks are more successful than Devin's Mavericks have been for at least a year and a half now.

@ consecutive first-round knockouts ago we never thought we would hand THE San Antonio Spurs a five-game series loss.

With or without Devin.

Yes ... Devin is an ALL-STAR, but he is also watching the playoffs from home like many other talented but unfortunate young studs in the NBA.

I have been taking a lot of crap for agreeing with the trade over the last year, but at least this week I can smile and say I Told You so!
