2009 NFL Mock Draft 44-54

44. Miami (Redskins): D.J. Moore, CB, Vandy

The Dolphins get a very good CB here who is ranked on the big board of scouts inc. for the 2009 NFL Draft. Miami has a big shot to be very good in the 2009 NFL Season if they keep playing physical football and Moore would certainly helped that.

45. NY Giants (Saints): Kenny Brit, WR, Rutgers

The Giants are probably losing Toomer for the 2009 Season and maybe Burress so they need depth at the WR position. Brit is a very good WR and the perfect pick here for the Giants in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft. Brit is rated by many to be a first-round talent, but I think he could fall a little because of good talent.

46. Houston Texans: Ron Brace, NT, BC

The Texans add depth to an already pretty good defensive line. Brace is a very good DT/NT from a good College program.

47. Patriots (Chargers): Tyrone McKenzie, OLB, SF

The Patriots get a good OLB here to get them younger at that position for the 2009 season.

48. Denver Broncos: Paul Kruger, DE, Utah

The Broncos would improve their defense with a great DE in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft.

49. Chicago Bears: Nate Davis, QB, Ball St.

The Bears could use all the help they can get at QB. Sleeper Nate Davis might be better than Orton or Grossman.

50. Cleveland Browns (Bucs): Alphonso Smith, CB, WF

The Cleveland Browns traded Winslow to the Buccaneers so they get this pick. They get one of the best Corners in the the 2009 NFL Mock Draft here.

51. Dallas Cowboys: Jarron Gilbert, DE/DT, SJS

The Cowboys get a very good DT who is a freak athlete in the second round here. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gilbert jumped into the first round with his freakish ability.

52. NY Jets: Victor Harris, CB, VT

The Jets get a very good defensive back to help the already young backs they have.

53. Philadelphia Eagles: Clint Sintim, OLB, VA

The Eagles get a very good OLB here in the 2009 NFL Draft. He is considered to be a first rounder by many but I think he might fall because all of the USC outside LB’s in the 2009 NFL Draft.

54. Minnesota Vikings: Louis Murphy, WR, UF

Florida Picks up a good athlete and WR from a great football program. He will be a good No. 3 in the NFL right away and possibly more and will help the Vikings passing game in the 2009 season hopefully.

Picks 55-64 Cont >>>

<<< Back to 33-43

Jays Mock Draft

Hanks Mock Draft

My Mock Draft Database

2009 NFL Mock Draft Round 2

33. Detroit Lions: Troy Kopog, OT, Tulane

The Lions address their offensive line here with an OT to protect their QB.

34. NE Patriots (KC): Sean Smith, CB, Utah

The Chiefs got their QB from the Patriots, so the Patriots get this pick. They address their secondary with this pick.

35. St. Louis Rams: Lesean McCoy, RB, Pitt

The Rams are having problems with injuries at the RB position. Lesean McCoy is a great prospect for the 2009 NFL Season. He is ranked by a lot of people as the second or even first RB in the 2009 NFL Draft. I have him as a close third in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft.

36. Cleveland Browns: Sen’Derrick Marks, DT, Auburn

The Browns look to build their interior in the 2009 NFL Draft. Marks is a good player that could be first rounder if he works out well in the 2009 NFL Draft Combine.

37. Seattle Seahawks: Alex Mack, C, Cal

The Seahawks get a first round talent in the second round here because of all the talent in the 2009 NFL Draft. Kopog is a very good tackle, and if he works out well, he could be taken in the first round.

38. Cincinnati Bengals: Hakeem Nicks, WR, UNC

The Bengals get a very good talent here that very well could be a first rounder. Look for the Bengals to get Nicks to replace TJ in the 2009 season.

39. Jacksonville Jaguars: Emmanuel Cook, SS, SC

The Jaguars improve their secondary with a good safety out of South Carolina. They under-performed this year, and Cook will help them get back on track in the 2009 season.

40. GB Packers: Evander Hood, DT, Mizzou

The Packers don’t have a proven run-stopping DT yet after drafting them in the past. Consequently, they try again here with Evander Hood, who is a very good DT out of Mizzou.

41. Oakland Raiders: Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU

The Raiders get a very good defensive end here, as Jackson is a first round talent that might fall to the second round.

42. Buffalo Bills: Max Unger, C, Oregon

The Bills have had problems with their centers in the 2008 season, and they hope Unger will help solve their problems. Mack should come in and start immediately either at center or guard for the Buffalo Bills in the 2009 season.

43. San Francisco 49ers: Fenuki Tupou, OT, OR

The 49ers grab a very good OT here that will immediately help them in the 2009 NFL Season.

Picks 44-54 Cont. >>>

<<< Back to picks 22-32

Jays Mock Draft

Hanks Mock Draft

97. Dallas (Lions) Anthony Parker, G, Tenn

98. St. Louis Rams: Keenan Lewis, CB, OSU

99. KC Chiefs: Sherrod Martin, CB, Troy

100. Seattle Seahawks: Cody Brown, DE, UConn

101. Cleveland Browns: Andy Levitre, G, OSU

102. Cincinnati Bengals: Zack Follett, OLB, CAL

103. Oakland Raiders: Xavier Fulton, OT, ILL

104. Jacksonville Jaguars: Roy Miller, G, UT

105. GB Packers Vance Walker, DT, GT

106. San Fran 49ers: Ray Feinga, G, BYU

107. Buffalo Bills: Augustus Parrish, OT, Kent St.

108. Denver Broncos: Courtney Greene, S, Rutgers

109. Jets (Redskins) Captain Munnerlyn, CB, SC

110. NO Saints Maurice Evans, DE, PSU

111. Houston Texans: Antoine Caldwell, C, Bama

112. SD Chargers: Mitch King, DE, Iowa

Picks 113-128 >>>

<<< Back to Picks 86-96

2009 NFL Mock Draft, Nos. 76-85

76. Jets (Saints): Derrick Williams, WR, PSU

The Jets get Derrick Williams here in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft. He will be a great playmaker and help take pressure off the new QB and running game.

77. Houston Texans: Derek Pegues, FS, Miss St.

The Texans get a playmaker here on the defensive side of the ball.

78. San Diego Chargers: Brandon Graham, DE, MI

You can never take or have enough depth at the defensive end position. Graham is a very good end.

79. Denver Broncos: Alex Magae, DT, Purdue

The Broncos build up a D-line here that needs it.

80. Washington Redskins: Myron Pryor, DT, UK

The 'Skins add another needed piece to the defense.

81. TB Buccaneers: Shonn Green, RB, Iowa

The Buccaneers do not really have a healthy RB for the season. They need a good running back, and Green has the power and speed to be great.

82. Lions (Dallas): Asher Allen, CB, Georgia

The Lions try to build up their lacking defense to avoid another winless season.

83. Packers (Jets): Darius Butler, CB, UCONN

The Packers continue to build a depleted defense.

84. Chicago Bears: Jason Watkins, OT, FL

The Bears give Forte a big guy up front to help him repeat a great season.

85. Philadelphia Eagles: P.J. Hill, RB, Wisconsin

The Eagles get exactly what they need here. They need a short-yardage back and P.J. Hill is a bruiser they would love to have.

Picks 86-96 >>>

<<< Back to picks 65-75

Jays Mock Draft

Hanks Mock Draft

2009 NFL Mock Draft Round Three

65. Detroit Lions: Fili Moala, DE/DT, USC

The Lions get a very good defensive lineman here for the 2009 NFL Season.

66. St. Louis Rams: Dannell Ellerbe, ILB, Georgia

The Rams get a good interior LB to help stop the run.

67. KC Chiefs: Donald Brown, RB, UConn

The KC Chiefs don’t really have an every down RB that can carry the load that can stay healthy. Brown can easily be the top tier RB to match up with the Texas RB in the 2009 season.

68. Seattle Seahawks: Javon Ringer, RB, Mich St.

The Seahawks need a RB to at least split some carries as the top RB for them. They have a couple guys who are pretty good, but I think Ringer this late in the 2009 NFL Mock Draft is a steal for Seattle.

69. Dallas (Browns): Patrick Chung, SS, Oregon

The Cowboys need someone that can cover a tight end for the 2009 Season. Patrick Chung may not hit as hard as Roy Williams, but he is a better coverage safety.

70. Cincinnati Bengals: Mortty Ivy, OLB, WVU

The Bengals get another guy to help improve their defense for the 2009 NFL Draft.

71. Oakland Raiders: Jonathan Luigs, C, Arkansas

The Raiders add depth to their line here who can start right away in the NFL. I think he is right up there with the other centers in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft.

72. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Canfield, G, Cincy

The Jags get a very good guard to help them with the problems they had in the 2008 season.

73. GB Packers: Phil Loadholt, OT, OU

The Packers get a good tackle to help Ryan Grant get moving again.

74. San Francisco 49ers: Marcus Freeman, LB, Ohio St.

San Francisco builds their defense some more and gives some help to Patrick Willis.

75. Buffalo Bills: Chase Coffman, TE, Mizzou

The Bills need a pass-catching TE for the 2009 season. Coffman has proven he can do that in Missouri’s pass happy offense.

Picks 76-85 >>>

2009 NFL Mock Draft 55-64

55. Atlanta Falcons: Shawn Nelson, TE, S. Miss

The Falcons get a great receiving TE here in the 2009 NFL Draft. He is an underrated player for this position in the 2009 NFL Draft.

56. Miami Dolphins: Jared Cook, TE, SC

The Dolphins get a good TE here to help the Dolphins get the short yardage passes and help out their weaker-armed QB.

57. Baltimore Ravens: Connor Barwin, DE/LB, Cincy

The Ravens get a very good player here that can add depth to the outside LB pass rush position for the ravens. They are a very physical team and need depth at both the DE position as well as the OLB position.

58. NE Patriots: Darry Beckwith, ILB, LSU

The Patriots get another interior LB here to pair up with Jerod Mayo and make their defense top of the line in the 2009 season.

59. Carolina Panthers: Juaquin Iglesias, WR, OU

Panthers get a good WR to play opposite Steve Smith.

60. NY Giants: Clay Mathews, OLB, USC

The Giants get a very good OLB here in Mathews. If they keep some guys in the same positions, they will need to add depth to the OLB position.

61. Indianapolis Colts: Herman Johnson, G, LSU

The Colts get a good guard here to help with their running game in the 2009 season. Johnson is ranked as one of the best guards in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft.

62. Tennessee Titans: Mike Mickens, CB, Cincy

Titans corner Nick Harper is in his 30s, and they don’t have great depth at the CB position. Mickens would be a great fit for the Titans and match up well with Cortland Finnegan.

63. Arizona Cardinals: Robert Ayers, DE, Ten

The Cardinals get a young experienced DE to help get pressure on the opposing QB and take some pressure off of the QB.

64. Pittsburgh Steelers: Andy Kemp, G, Wisconsin

The Steelers get another good interior lineman to groom over the next year or so. Look for the Steelers to improve their run game and their line at the same time.

Draft: Round Three >>>

<<< Back to Picks 44-54

Jay's Mock Draft

Hank's Mock Draft

2009 NFL Mock Draft 11-21

11. Buffalo Bills: Everette Brown, DE, FSU

The Bills get one of the best defensive ends in the 2009 NFL Draft here. I have Brown ranked as my second-best defensive end. However, he is more of a 4-3 defensive end and Aaron Maybin is more of a 3-4 defensive end.

12. Denver Broncos: Rey Maualuga, ILB, USC

Ok everyone is telling me that the Broncos are going defense with their first pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. In this 2009 NFL Mock Draft I believe that they will go defense, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they went after one of the top running backs in the draft.

13. Washington Redskins: Brian Orakpo, DE, UT

The Redskins get a very good defensive end here in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft. Orakpo has shown he can get by very good tackles and looks to be a great defensive end.

14 . New Orleans Saints: James Laurinaitis, ILB, Ohio St.

The Saints get one of the best inside linebackers in the draft. This 2009 NFL Mock Draft has the Saints building their defense from the inside out.

15. Houston Texans: Aaron Maybin, DE/OLB, PSU

Maybin might be a little under sized, but he has great pass-rushing ability.

16. San Diego Chargers: Duke Robinson, OT/G, OU

The Chargers get a very good offensive lineman here who could play right tackle or nearly any position on the offensive line. Look for Robinson to help boost the run game and the protection in 2009.

17. NY Jets: Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia

The Jets need to build the interior of their defense for the 2009 NFL Season. However, Knowshon Moreno is a great running back who is excellent value at the 17th overall pick. This 2009 NFL Mock Draft has Moreno falling, but I could definitely see him going higher in the draft. Their just isn’t a great need for a running back by any teams higher in the draft.

18. Chicago Bears: Darius Heyward-Bey, WR, MD

The Bears defense is getting older, but I think they go after a playmaking receiver to help their QB in the 2009 season. Bey is supposed to run in the 4.3’s in the 2009 NFL Draft Combine. He is ranked as my third best wide receiver in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft because of his size and speed.

19. TB Buccaneers: Percy Harvin, WR, Florida

The Bucs get a very good play maker here in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft. Harvin is considered by most to be a wide receiver, but he can also help in the running game as well as the return game. He can line up at nearly every position to help the Buccaneers offensive attack in 2009.

20. Detroit Lions (Dallas): Clint Sintim, OLB, VA

The Lions get a very good player here to help them on the defensive end of the ball. They just hired a defensive-minded coach so they will probably go defense with quite a few picks in the 2009 NFL Draft.

21. Philadelphia Eagles: Eben Britton, OT, AZ

The Eagles get a very underrated offensive tackle here from a very good college program. They could potentially lose both of their tackles in the offseason so they need bring in some new blood for 2009. Britton has built up his stock recently because of the tackles going back to school. He is now rated as a first-round pick in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft.

Picks 22-32 >>>

<<< Back to Picks 1-10

Jays Mock Draft

Hanks Mock Draft

2009 NFL Mock Draft 22-32

22. Minnesota Vikings: William Beatty, OT, UCONN

The Vikings Offensive line isn’t getting any younger and they could lose some guys in the offseason. Beatty stock has increased because all the OT’s that have decided to go back to school for their senior season.

23. NE Patriots: Malcom Jenkins, CB, Ohio St.

The Patriots could go with another ILB to match up with Jerod Mayo, the beast from Tennessee. However, there isn’t really someone of that value on the board. So they get the best ranked CB in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft with the 23rd pick overall.

24. Atlanta Falcons: William Moore, S, Mizzou

The Falcons take the best safety in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft here. He is a big guy that will help stuff the run and improve the Falcons for next season. They could also go TE with this pick because Brandon Pettigrew the best TE in the 2009 NFL Draft is still on the board.

25. Miami Dolphins: Brian Cushing, OLB, USC

Whatever Parcels decides to do in the 2009 NFL Draft I will agree with; I am just guessing here.

26. Baltimore Ravens: Vontae Davis, CB, ILL

The Ravens get a very gifted CB here in Vontae Davis. He is my second ranked CB in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft, though he might be the most athletically gifted. I think if you put him in the secondary with Ed Reed they will be even scarier in 2009 then they are right now.

27. Indianapolis Colts: Perria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss

They Colts once again had problems stopping the run this year. They get my second ranked DT in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft with the 27th overall pick. Jerry could be an immediate impact in the middle of the Colts defense and helping with the run in the 2009 season.

28. Eagles (Carolina): Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Ok. St.

The Eagles get the best all around Tight End in the 2009 NFL Draft. I have Gresham going higher than him because he is a little faster and more of a receiving TE then Pettigrew. However, Pettigrew is better all around because he is a great blocking TE as well as a great receiving one.

29. NY Giants: Michael Johnson, DE, GT

The Giants have great defensive ends but they did lose Strahan last year and you can never have to much depth at this position. Johnson is one of the top DE’s in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft.

30. Tennessee Titans: Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU

The Titans had injuries at the Defensive end position this year so they could use some great depth. Jackson is a great end that will fit in very well with the Titans 4-3 scheme in the 2009 Season.

31. Arizona Cardinals: Beanie Wells, RB, Ohio St.

The Edge has looked pretty good in the post season but he isn’t getting any younger. I think Beanie Wells is pretty evenly balanced and the 2nd best running back in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft. He will help them run the game and pair up well with Hightower.

32. Pittsburgh Steelers: Alex Mack, C, Cal

The Steelers get the versatile interior linemen they have been missing for the last couple of years. Alex Mack has recently shown at the senior bowl he is the top rated Center and maybe interior linemen in the 2009 NFL Draft and this 2009 NFL Mock Draft.

Round 2 Picks >>>

<< Back to Picks 11-21

Jays Mock Draft

Hanks Mock Draft

NFL Mock Draft 2009: Round Five

137. Packers: Jason Williams, OLB, W. Ill

Picks 145-160 >>>

<<< Back to Picks 113-128

92. Redskins: Trevor Canfield, G, CIncy

93. Panthers: Graham Harrell, QB, TTU

94. Steelers: Anthony Parker, G, Tennessee

95. Giants: Ryan Purvis, TE, BC

96. Titans: Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Mizzou

2009 NFL Mock Draft Picks 1-10—Nov. 9, 2008

1. Detroit Lions: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma

The Detroit Lions have a ton of problems and if they are going to solve any of them they are going to need to build in the 2009 NFL Draft. I think that Bradford is a great potential NFL QB and he could be very good for the Lions.

NFL Draft 2008 Team Needs Update

2008 NFL Draft Team Need Updates

Dolphins

Well seeing as how they have the first pick in the Draft they have a lot of team needs. I would say QB here because Cleo Lemon is their starter, but they drafted Beck last year and before they go with another guy they are going to test him out. So here, I would say offensive tackle is very important for both passing time and run blocking for the now out for the season Ronnie Brown. Secondary needs are defensive ends, LB’s and CB. Also because Brown is injured there is also a need for RB (maybe to share time with Brown)

Rams

The Rams are struggling this year, big time; they have a lot of weapons they just can’t put them altogether. Well they have a lot of needs. First things first, defense is a big need. Defensive end and linebacker mostly. Then, offensively, Pace is injured, so look for them to pick up an elite tackle if one is available. In the mid-to-late rounds they could use some receivers seeing as their receiving crew is getting pretty old.

Jets

The Jets usually seem to surprise people and go about .500, but this year they aren’t looking so hot. They have an OK back in Thomas Jones and an inconsistent QB with Pennington. In this position, the Jets need to improve their offensive line to help Jones and Washington. Also another need which I am not sure when they address it is QB someone to take over for Pennington when he continues to suck. Also, look for them to take interior, hard-nose defensive players because they addressed the secondary last year.

Falcons

Well, I don’t know: Are David Carr and Byron Leftwich enough to say they don’t need a QB or are they the short-term solutions. I look QB in this position because both of these guys have proven they cannot handle carrying a team and that is what you need to do with the Falcons (Vick). Also I see receiver to also be a big need. Roddy White has stepped up this year but all their receivers are just mediocre. If they can get a prime-time guy that will be a big help. Lastly, what every team needs an offensive and defensive line. Look for them to address these whenever they can.

Bengals

Well, the Bengals' offense is really good for the most part, they have every weapon you could possibly ask for. So look for them to draft the best defensive players available and fill their team with these. Another secondary concern will be a good TE that can take some pressure off of Johnson and TJ. Lastly, Johnson seems unhappy and if he wants out of Cincy also look for them to take a receiver.

Bills

The Bills improved their line in the offseason and they still suck so look for them to improve their pretty early. Defensively, the ends on the team are terrific, so DT and CB are big needs to strengthen the defense and replace Clements. Also I think the Bills “need” a big receiver or TE that can catch and get open. All they have are short speedy receivers so look for them to get a tall guy that can get open and score in the red zone.

Raiders

The Raiders need some weapons for Russell to throw to in the near future. Secondly, to improve the offensive line can never hurt and protecting the franchise QB’s blindside is essential. Some other secondary needs are DT and OLB.

Saints

A lot of people are saying go defense, which makes sense because they have weapons on Offense. But if McFadden falls here, I think they should take him and trade McAlister. But if this doesn’t occur, look for them to take the best defensive player left.

49ers

The 49ers need to put more pressure on the QB, and a DE is the one to do this. Another big need is to give Alex Smith someone to throw the ball too such as an elite receiver other than the average receivers he has.

Vikings

They never can seem to get a real good WR, but this year that position is going to be essential to take pressure of Peterson. Also, QB could be a huge need if Jackson continues to underproduce. For early rounds, also look for them to address the guard and safety positions.

Texans

Their defense isn’t so good, so I look for them to take the best secondary player on the board and mold them. Along with that OLB and offensive line are some pretty big needs.

Ravens

They need another elite CB to help mold this aging defense. Also, they do not have an elite WR either, so look for CB and WR to be their picks in the first two rounds because they are big needs.

Bears

QB because Griese isn’t the long term solution. Then in the early rounds also look for offensive line because the Bears are not productive on the ground at all this year.

14. Broncos

The Broncos need a new secondary, mostly in the safety position, due to underproductivity. Also, WR is another big need because Cutler needs some more options. Lastly, an outside concern is the Travis Henry replacement, especially if he is banned for a year because of marijuana use.

15. Browns

The biggest concern here is finding someone to take over for the aging Jamal Lewis. They have a young talented team all in all but RB is a top need. Along with this improving the defense is a huge concern so look for them to take mostly defensive players starting with the D-line.

16. Cardinals

RB: Edge is getting old and banged up. DE, OLB,CB: Improve the pass rush on the QB and get some defensive playmakers. They are offensively sound other than RB.

17. Eagles

Well, the biggest need after the Giants game is clearly offensive line. They cannot stop the sacks and they cannot consistently run the ball. So, upgrade across the O-line. Also, another weapon for McNabb would be nice; how about a really good TE to complement the speedy receivers.

18. Chiefs

They don’t have the answer at QB with Huard, so this is the first need that comes to my mind. Also, offensive line is huge here as well. They have an awesome RB, but he is unable to get any yards or scores because the O-line isn’t getting the job done up front. A later concern could be to get another receiver to complement Gonzalez and Bowe.

19. Lions

Defense Defense Defense...Main concerns here are stopping the pass with some stud CB’s and also a MLB to complement Ernie Sims.

20. Seahawks

Shaun Alexander has been very unproductive, so I say a top need here is RB and OL. I am not sure if it is on him or the O-line, but both positions can be improved. Also, if they can get an elite WR or TE giving Hasselbeck more options can never hurt. Lastly, if they get a good value QB, he could be a need which would take away the QB of the future need as well as receiver because Seneca Wallace could fit in nicely at receiver.

21. Panthers

The Panthers, all around, aren’t looking really good this year. So I am just going to list needs TE, S,T, and QB

22. Jaguars

Give Garrard someone to throw to. WR is the biggest need because the guy is playing lights out without one good receiver. Also, defensive end is a big need that could help improve a very good defense.

23. Titans

The Titans need to give Vince a big WR to throw to. They have a lot of small receivers so a BIG WR is the first need. Secondly, middle linebacker needs to be looked at as well as improving the secondary.

24. Redskins

The Redskins are playing very well this year, so I look for them to take the best player they can first round. But DE and OL are probably the two biggest concerns overall.

25. Chargers

The Chargers need to get some youth in their secondary, so CB is a need, also interior defensive lineman also strike me as being a need with this hot and cold team.

26. Giants

The Giants' D has picked it up the last couple of weeks, and they are looking really good. The biggest thing I see them needing next year is a good young receiver. Toomer is old and Shockey and Burress need someone to take the pressure off of them. Look for an improvement on the offensive line as well as a new safety and also a kicker.

27. Buccaneers

Jeff Garcia is good but they will need a franchise QB to learn under him. Also, that franchise QB is going to need someone to throw to other than the 65 year old Joey Galloway.

28. Steelers

MLB is a need because of age and secondary concerns are CB and also WR to compliment Ward and Holmes.

29. Packers

This team is very young other then the QB position but they already have their backup and future starter chosen. For top needs, look for them to address CB’s. For later rounds: WR, T, TE, OLB.

30. Cowboys

Jones is most likely gone after this year, and the receiving core is banged up. So, first two picks RB and receiver. Also, a very big need is improvement at secondary as well.

31. Colts

Defensively, they need to improve even more. They are still dominating this year, but their picks will come on the defensive end because their offense is so fluid.

32. Patriots

They don’t have any needs at all. Wait ummm…..QB? HAHAHA. Ok well I see them taking a LB and maybe a couple of them because their LB’s are very old and are going to need to be replaced soon.

*As you can see I am a very offensive-minded person, so if you have any comments or concerns about your teams needs feel free to post a comment and I will get back to you and consider it with my next team needs section.

NFL 2008 Mock Draft, First Round

1. Miami Dolphins: Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU

The Miami Dolphins are an all around team that has had some serious struggles this year with both offense and defense alike. I believe that if their was a top tier receiver in this NFL draft they would have to go that route, but there isn’t one. The only other way I see them going is in drafting either Jake Long or Chris Long in the NFL Draft. Jake Long is a very good O Lineman but that is one of the strongest parts of the Dolphins Team. Dorsey has had some injury problems this year so if they decide they want to go with a safer pick Chris Long has the leadership skills and talent to be a top tier defensive end like his father, Howie Long. Either way the Dolphins need to build through the NFL Draft if they want to progress as a team.

2. St. Louis Rams: Chris Long, DE, Virginia

The St. Louis Rams have a couple ways to go in this situation. First of all they can go with an OT which is probably their biggest need because Pace is continually getting injured. Secondly they can improve the interior with Sedrick Ellis who has jumped to the top 5 in a lot of recent drafts. However, I have them taking the best player available because they got Carriker last year for a DT they take a DE to help build their defense around with Chris Long. Long is both a leader and a run stopper as well as someone who pressures the QB.

3. Atlanta Falcons: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas

I previously have had the Falcons taking Matt Ryan in this situation to deal with their QB issues. However, because some QB’s have shown to do well in the Senior bowl (Henne, Flacco and John David Booty) Atlanta can pass on Matt Ryan and take Darren McFadden a player they can build their team around. Another Idea for them would be to trade down and get a good receiver or take one of the top tier QB’s later in the draft. McFadden is the most sought after player in this draft so look for teams to attempt to trade up if he is not gone after the first couple selections.

4. Oakland Raiders: Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC

The Raiders drafted their QB last year and Al Davis may have been looking to snag the McFadden in this slot but he is one away from doing so. So instead of getting a flashy player like Davis is very fond of he goes with the best available player for his team needs. He needs someone to step in and replace Warren Sapp on the defensive side of the ball because their defense struggled more this year then they have in the passed. Look for the Raiders to also look for play makers at receiver and running back as well if any of them have outstanding numbers in the combine. But all in all Ellis is the best selection here because some people even have him going first overall ousting Chris Long and Glenn Dorsey.

5. Kansas City Chiefs: Jake Long, OT, Michigan

If this happens and Jake Long slips past the Rams and the Raiders look for the Kansas City Chiefs to jump on him as fast as they can. The Chiefs struggled to get the ball moving on the ground early in the year and they need to protect whoever is going to be calling the plays for them. Another choice here would be one of the top tier QB’s such as Matt Ryan or Brian Brohm. However, I think that they will either try to get a QB in the second round or let Brodie Croyle have a shot at it. So Jake Long is almost a definite choice in this situation because it is a perfect fit for the Chiefs team needs.

6. New York Jets: Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB

In the NFL Draft the Jets need to improve their team as an overall team. I had previously said that WR would be the best move for the Jets in the NFL Draft but Kellen Clemens has come around and is a much better QB then Pennington. I don’t think that he will be the long term solution for this team but he is a temporary replacement for the next couple years. Even though the Jets recently acquired Thomas Jones he is getting older and isn’t a great running back. However, Leon Washington is a playmaker and there really isn’t a good enough RB available for the Jets to take in this situation. Look for the Jets then to jump on the best pass rushing end available. In this situation Gholston has proven to be a great pass rusher and can also back up and fill the OLB position as well.

7. New England Patriots(49ers): Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida

I previously had the Patriots taking Laurinaitis in this situation but he is going back to school for another year. So instead of improving the Linebacker crew now the Patriots wait to do that in later rounds and improve their secondary. Asante Samuel looks like he is going to be leaving in 2008 unless he wants to take a pay cut and stay with the Patriots. So the Patriots take the top rated CB in the draft and are happy about picking so high when they are in the Super Bowl.

8. Baltimore Ravens: Desean Jackson, WR, California

I don’t love this pick for Baltimore but I don’t think the best pick for Baltimore is a QB. Everyone else has Brian Brohm or Andre Woodson going in this pick. Another pick could be Malcolm Kelly because he is a big receiver that can catch the short yardage pass. Also I think Troy Smith has been playing ok and managing the game pretty well. Therefore I think that Desean Jackson could be the right choice in this situation because he is a similar player to Ted Ginn Jr. and Troy Smith had a lot of success with Ted Ginn Jr.

9. Cincinnati Bengals: Kenny Phillips, FS, Miami

The Bengals Offense has some of the best personnel out of almost any other team in the league other than the Patriots probably. However, their defense is a different story and they need to improve it greatly. The Bengals have to decide who will best complement the rest of their defense and who will best help. Here I have them taking the best player available to help their defense. Some other choices would be the best linebacker or Defensive lineman available but I like Phillips here because he is proven and I think will be very successful in the NFL.

10. New Orleans Saints: Leodis McKlevin, CB, Troy State

The New Orleans Saints picked up their offense in the latter part of the year making a run for the playoffs. The part of their team that kept them out of the playoffs was not their offense but their defense mainly the secondary. The Saints defense has been horrendous at times and not able to cover receivers in the safety or corner positions. The best selection for them here is the best CB available. Leodis McKlevin from Troy State isn’t the biggest name in the 2008 Draft but he is a freak athlete who can immediately step in and start at CB for the New Orleans Saints.

11. Buffalo Bills: Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma

The NFL Draft has not been the best for the Bills in past years. I liked their draft last year and thought they made some good decisions to improve their offense and defense alike. Look for the Bills to give their new QB Edwards another offensive weapon. The key to this pick is having someone that can score in the redzone therefore they need to be over 5′10". Another pick I like for the Bills most likely in the second round is Davis out of USC. He is the number one TE in the Draft and if they can get him then they will have 2 Red Zone threats in Kelly and Davis and therefore I think they become an over 500 team and be even more in the playoff race. Furthermore, I think that these guys will also be a big help for Trent Edwards in being a starter in the NFL.

12. Denver Broncos: Keith Rivers, OLB, USC

Denver lost it this year and did absolutely nothing to what they were projected to do. Their defense and offense alike sucked and they need to improve a lot of different situations. In this situation Ryan Clady could be a good pick to help continue their offensive lines success and their run game. However, the Broncos go with Keith Rivers the best available defensive player that will be able to immediately help the Broncos Defense as a whole.

13. Carolina Panthers: Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville

The Panthers don’t really have a signal caller so a possible selection would be one of the best QB’s available. In this situation I previously had them selecting Ryan Clady who is looking to be a good OT. But instead Brohm is there selection because of their QB problems throughout the system and the questions with Jake’s future.

14. Chicago Bears: Matt Ryan, QB, BC

The Chicago Bears have struggled all year as well with their QB situation. They have one of the best weapons in the league if not the best with Devin Hester. Secondly, the Bears also need some other offensive weapons such as O-Line, RB’s, and WR’s. Their offense pretty much is their special teams but I say they take a strong confident QB in Matt Ryan here. If Ryan falls this far this would be a steal for the Bears because he is a big QB that has a lot of talent.

15. Detroit Lions: Antoine Cason, CB, AZ

The Lions have multiple problems mostly on the defensive side of the ball. Look for the Lions to pick the best defensive back available in this situation. I think Cason is the best CB available here and they will choose him to help improve the secondary. However, the Lions may look at the board and see Sam Baker still available and pick him up in order to protect the signal caller and help with the run that they can’t get going.

16. Arizona Cardinals: Calais Campbell, DE, Miami

The Cardinals need to help their defense because they have struggled on defense. This may be a stretch for Campbell but with his 6′8" frame and ability to get to the QB look for him to go here. The Cardinals also could look for someone to share time with the Edge here as well as improve their secondary with someone like Reggie Smith.

17. Minnesota Vikings: Andre Woodson, QB, Kentucky

The Vikings Defense has been very good this year and has been able to help win them a lot of games. Their offensive line has been spectacular at times and we all know that Adrian Peterson is amazing as well. So the Vikings either need to replace Receivers in this draft or the QB. At the end of the year Sydney Rice started to step up and make some plays for the Vikings and they still have Troy Williamson the bust from a couple years ago. So I think the Vikings take Woodson if he is still available. Tavaris Jackson had a couple good games but mostly struggled the entire season. Look for Woodson to be a QB that is a big Pocket passer for the most part but has the experience to manage a game and also win the big game as shown against LSU.

18. Houston Texans: Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon

Jonathan Stewart ending the season ok but not as strong as he was when he had his dual threat Dennis Dixon. Look for Stewart to be a power RB in the NFL similar style to a Shaun Alexander because of his combination of size and speed. Overall the Texans have a pretty decent offense but not really a strong RB. So look for them to take RB or a defensive need other than DE because Mario Williams stepped it up this year!

19. Philadelphia Eagles: Sam Baker, OT, USC

The Eagles didn’t do a poor job at run blocking this year and they did a very good job blocking for screens. However, if they want to keep Mcnabb healthy or Kolb then they better protect the QB when they are trying to throw the ball. The Eagles let up sack after sack in the G MEN game and they need to do something to counter this weakness. Another choice here would be Otah or Cherilus but I am not sure if they are as athletic as Baker or as experienced.

20. Tampa Bay Bucs: Mario Manningham, WR, MI

The Bucs receivers played very well this year but they are very very old. Look for the Bucs to take the best WR available in this slot. I am not sure but Manningham has played very well lately so look for him to go mid to late first round. Also look at prospects like Early Doucet, Limas Sweed, and Adarius Bowman in this slot.

21. Washington Redskins: Dan Connor, LB, Penn State

I am continually trying to decide if Connor is going to end up in the first round or not. He is considered a very strong physical LB like most LB’s from Penn State. However I think he would be a great fit for the over the hill LB’s on the Patriots but I don’t think he will go top 10 and I don’t think the Patriots are going to use such a high pick on a LB. Look for Connor to come in and out of the first round and if a team sees a good fit for him to take him. I think the skins also need a defensive end to put more pressure on the opposing QB but Connor can take over a starting spot and free some the Redskins to move around some of their players and find the best mix and match situation.

22. Dallas Cowboys: Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas

The Cowboys most likely are letting go Jones this year because his contract is up. Secondly Felix Jones played with McFadden in college and is used to running in a dual back system. Jones is a very fast receiver and is a top 5 RB in the 2008 NFL Draft. Look for the cowboys to either take the best available RB here or the best available DB.

23. Pittsburgh Steelers: Ryan Clady, OT, Boise St.

The Steelers need some more strength at their line for protection and run alike so look for them to take the best O-Lineman here. The Steelers then decide to take Ryan Clady who is potentially a top 15 pick but somehow drops to the Steelers to fulfill one of their top needs. I have gone back and forth with Clady and Baker but I have Baker finishing ahead of Clady in this draft though I am not sure who is a better overall Offensive Linemen.

24. Tennessee Titans: Limas Sweed, WR, Texas

I think that the Tennessee Titans have to take the best tall receiver available at their first round pick. In this situation Doucet and Hardy both might be better overall receivers but Sweed has played with Vince before so they go with Sweed. Another pick I would like in this situation would be James Hardy from Indiana because of the big target he can give Vince. Also some other considerations in this spot might be a good CB but the depth of receivers is much better in this draft and I believe if they don’t give Vince some viable weapons the Titans will not make the playoffs especially if they don’t sign Haynesworth.

25. Seattle Seahawks: Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Ill

Rashard Mendenhall is the top rated RB at this time in the draft. It goes McFadden, Stewart and then Jones in my perspective. Shaun Alexander and Morris are decent backs but Alexander is too old and he is tripping over his own feet rather than actually getting tackled. So the Seattle Seahawks end up taking a receiver so they can let Alexander go on his way and Morris and Mendenhall can spilt time.

26. Jacksonville Jaguars: Early Doucet, WR, LSU

Early came into the season as one of the top WR in the NCAA. Now he has dropped a bit but is still an exceptional receiver who is first round material. Look for the Jags to take the best possible receiver they can get because they don’t really have any real good receivers. The Jaguars can be a great team with a couple of new offensive weapons in the receiving slot.

27. San Diego Chargers: Pat Sims*, DT, AU

The Chargers gave up the most rushing yards in a single game to Adrian Peterson. Therefore, look for them to take a big DT to help stop this run. Sims is not only over 300 lbs but he can also run a sub 5 second 40 yard dash. This guy is just a junior and he is declared to the NFL. Look for this guy to be similar to Amobi Okoye because of his size and speed.

28. Dallas Cowboys: Reggie Smith, CB/S, OU

Everyone knows the Cowboys Defense is their weakness so they need to use at least one of their picks to help improve it. Their are a top tier team but they need to improve their secondary and Reggie Smith could come in and do this right away. If they get good quality with their earlier draft pick the Cowboys may take a CB/S their and take the best RB available here. Depending on their first pick they have to pick the best CB or Safety here. The Cowboys need to get at least one defensive player in the first round and most likely a WR or RB with the other.

29. San Francisco 49ers(Colts): James Hardy, WR, IU

The 49ers offense was very weak this year and solely relied on Frank Gore to carry the team. Alex Smith needs some more weapons to work with and James Hardy is the perfect player to draft to help a QB move forward in the passing game. Hardy is a very tall receiver with great hands.

30. Green Bay Packers: Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, TSU

The Packers corners are both over 30 years old. The receivers are young and Favre is young at heart so the Packers decide to draft a CB to add some youth to their team. Overall this team will be good in the future with a young receiving group and a good backup QB for the future. Cromartie is ranked pretty high on a lot of draft boards so he is a good pick this late in the draft for the young powerful Packers.

31. New York Giants: Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida

I previously had a CB going in this slot because the Giants Secondary is aging and they need to improve it in the first three rounds. However, I think that if Derrick Harvey falls this far then the Giants should look into taking him because he is a perfect fit for their Defensive scheme. The Giants love to put pressure on the opposing QB and that is Harvey’s specialty. Also another fit in this situation could be Quentin Groves the very good DE from Auburn. Strahan is old and almost retired this year so look for them to get a specialist in this spot to help Strahan and then address the secondary and a receiver in the next 2 rounds.

32. New England Patriots: Forfeited

Other Potential First Round Picks:

Jeff Otah, OT, Pitt

Quentin Groves, DE, Auburn

Kentwan Balmer, DT, UNC

Chris Williams, OT, Vanderbilt

Aqib Talib, CB, KU

Edit this entry.

2008 NFL Mock Draft

1. Miami Dolphins: Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
The Miami Dolphins are a good all-around team, but they’ve come up against some serious struggles this year with both offense and defense. If there were a top tier receiver in the NFL Draft, I believe they would have to go that route—but, of course, there isn’t one.

I see them going for either Jake Long or Chris Long.

Jake Long is a very good offensive lineman—but the Dolphins are already strong here. Dorsey has had some injury problems this year, so if they decide they want to go with a safer pick Chris Long has the leadership skills and talent to be a top tier defensive end like his father, Howie Long.

Either way, the Dolphins need to build through the NFL Draft if they want to progress as a team.

2. St. Louis Rams: Jake Long, OT, Michigan

The St. Louis Rams were expected to perform much more skillfully this season than they did. There were a couple of injuries throughout the year that hurt them, but all in all they just couldn’t win games in the fourth quarter.

Look for the Rams to improve their offensive line here in order to eventually replace the oft-injured Orlando Pace. Long, a very good offensive lineman from Michigan, gets the job done every play.

However, the Rams could potentially trade down to someone looking to get Darren McFadden and then take a WR to replace the aging Isaac Bruce.

These guys could be good next year; they have the talent. If they get things clicking, look for them to turn things around and make the playoffs.

3. Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College

The Falcons organization has faced some hard times this year, what with Vick’s arrest and the newly acquired coach’s abandonment of the team.

I predict they’ll take a quarterback in this draft. Matt Ryan seems to be the first QB up for consideration in 2008. At Boston College he demonstrated both arm strength and intelligence.

However, if Jake Long is still available I think you’ll see that the Falcons will take a good look at him—they desperately need to improve the O-Line.

If Bobby Petrino were still with the Falcons, I would say they’d pick Brohm. But I think Ryan is the better choice in this situation.

Lastly, McFadden is also a possible choice here because Warrick Dunn is getting old. But then again, they still have a young Norwood, who seems to be the future of their RBs.

4. Oakland Raiders: Chris Long, DE, Virginia

This season the Oakland Raiders’ concerns ranged from QB to O-Line to wide receivers. I would say that their offense was the main problem, but the defense did struggle as well.

The Raiders have a lot of needs to meet, although they did satisfy a QB requirement in last year’s draft, picking up Russell. Look for the Raiders to draft the best available player in this slot because they really do need the best players they can get.

McFadden and Long could also be taken here, and the Raiders must improve their defense. Chris Long has been a leader in Virginia this year and is an outstanding defensive end.

Look for Long to come in and make an impact on the defense right away. He will be a much sought after player in this 2008 NFL Draft.

5. Kansas City Chiefs: Sam Baker, OT, USC

It is said that Ryan Clady out of Boise State is the top OT, but I believe Sam Baker to be a better overall player, even after his surgery. Look for Baker and Clady both to be in the top 15—they are good players with experience at big programs.

The Chiefs also could go either the McFadden route or pursue a QB. But in the end, they must improve their offensive line to help starter Larry Johnson.

6. New York Jets: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas

The Jets need to use the Draft to improve their team overall. I had previously said that WR would be the best move for the Jets, but now Kellen Clemens has come around and is a much better QB than Pennington. I don’t think that he will serve as the long-term solution, but he is a good temporary replacement.

Even though the Jets recently acquired Thomas Jones, he is getting older and is simply not a great running back. However, Leon Washington is a playmaker and if they decided not to go for McFadden here it would be in favor of Washington.

Still, I think the best prediction is that the Jets will pursue McFadden—he really is just too good to pass up. Having evaluated Adrian Peterson’s impact on the Vikings, McFadden is going to be a hot pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.

Look for other teams to try and trade up for him as well. If the Jets don’t want him, someone will—badly.

7. New England Patriots(49ers): James Laurinaitis, MLB, Oh S

People always say the Patriots will not draft a linebacker in the first round. Maybe the team will keep this up, but I really don’t understand how they could pass up Laurinaitis, a stud MLB from Ohio State. Their linebackers are aged 30 and over!

Another good choice might be a CB because Samuel is going into a free agent year.

It is crazy that a team this good has the potential to get even better with this draft pick. Anyway, it doesn’t really matter who they end up with; they’re good enough already.

8. Baltimore Ravens: Desean Jackson, WR, California

I don’t love this pick for Baltimore, but I also don’t think their best strategy would aim at a QB. Everyone else has Brian Brohm or Andre Woodson going in this pick. Another possibility could be Malcolm Kelly, a big receiver who can catch the short yardage pass.

Also I think Troy Smith has been playing okay and managing the game pretty well. Therefore I think that Desean Jackson could be the right choice here, as his similarities to Ted Ginn, Jr. could prove beneficial—Smith worked well with Ginn.

9. Cincinnati Bengals: Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC

The Bengals’ offense struggled throughout the entire season and they need to improve just about every defensive position on the field.

If they can have a strong defensive NFL Draft, the Bengals could really improve their chances for success next year. They have all the offensive weapons you could hope for in TJ and Chad, along with the newly available Chris Henry.

Look for the Bengals to draft bruiser Sedrick Ellis from USC to help them with their run-defense and also to put some pressure onto the QB.

10. New Orleans Saints: Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State

The New Orleans Saints picked up their offense in the latter part of the year, making a run for the playoffs, and it was mainly their poor secondary defense that put a stop to the success. The Saints defense has been horrendous at times, unable to cover receivers in the safety or corner positions.

Another great pick here would be Kenny Phillips, the safety out of Miami who is also a great playmaker. If the Saints improve their defense in the draft, I think they might really have a chance of making next year’s playoffs.

11. Buffalo Bills: Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma

The NFL Draft has not always gone smoothly for the Bills, but last year they did make some good decisions to improve both offense and defense.

Look for the Bills to give their new QB Edwards another offensive weapon. The key is to pick someone who can score in the Red Zone, so it will have to be someone 5’10".

Another pick I like for the Bills (most likely in the second round) is Davis out of USC. He is the number one TE in the Draft and if they manage to get him, they would have two Red Zone threats in Kelly and Davis, improving their chances in the playoff race. Plus, I think these guys could also be a big help to Trent Edwards as a starter.

12. Denver Broncos: Frank Okam, DT, Texas

Frank Okam is a beast in the middle and has shown that he can stop the run as well as put pressure on the QB. Okam is projected a little lower in some other drafts, but he is a big body that can help stop the run—very important for the Broncos. Their offense is pretty strong but a receiver, DE, or Corner in this position are also other possibilities.

13. Carolina Panthers: Kenny Phillips, S, Miami

The Panthers have struggled all year at the QB position and so that is a very viable option here. I think if they wait they will be able to get Colt Brennan or someone else in the 2nd or 3rd round. Kenny Phillips is an awesome athlete and could go much higher than this depending on other teams’ needs. Look for them to either take a QB or a top defensive player for this slot.

14. Chicago Bears: Andre Woodson, QB, Kentucky

The Chicago Bears have also struggled with their QB situation this season. With Devin Hester they have one of the best weapons in the league (if not the best). The Bears need to augment their offensive assets, as in the O-Line, RBs, and WRs. Look for the Bears to use the 2008 NFL Draft to improve their offense in the early rounds. I say they take a strong, confident QB in Andre Woodson.

15. Detroit Lions: Ryan Clady, OT, Boise St.

Most likely, the Lions will pick defense here. However, I think Ryan Clady is a top 10 pick because of his speed and size. Therefore, the Lions could take him to protect their QBs for the next 10 years and help with strong run blocking.

Some other very viable picks would be Calais Campbell or Vernon Gholston, as the Lions were looking for a DE last year before they decided to take another WR.

Look for the Lions to either take a DE in the first or second round. I like Clady here because he is a great lineman and will be a good player for the next decade.

16. Arizona Cardinals: Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State

The Cardinals need to help their struggling defense, having had trouble this season in pressuring opponents' QBs. Gholston could pressure the QB and help with the run as well.

Another good pick here would be Calais Campbell, the 6’8" monster from Miami who easily disrupts a QB’s throwing line with his long arms.

I think the Cardinals will draft the best possible defensive player, and in this situation Vernon is that player.

17. Minnesota Vikings: Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville

The Vikings’ defense has been excellent this year and wasa a significant factor in the team’s success. Their offensive line has been spectacular at times as well, and we all know that Adrian Peterson is amazing. So the Vikings need to use this draft to replace either receivers or the QB.

At the end of the year Sydney Rice started to step up and make some plays for the Vikings and they still have Troy Williamson, the bust from a couple years ago. So I’m betting that the Vikings take Brohm if he is still available.

Tavaris Jackson had a couple good games but mostly struggled through the season. Look for Brohm to be a QB who can not only throw but can also manage a game without turning over the ball, as Tavaris often does.

18. Houston Texans: Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon

Jonathan Stewart managed to end the season okay, but not with as much strength as when he had his dual threat, Dennis Dixon. Look for Stewart to be a power RB in the NFL, similar in style to Shaun Alexander, because of his combination of size and speed.

Overall the Texans have a pretty decent offense, but not really a strong RB. So look for them to take an RB or a defensive need other than DE—because Mario Williams did step it up this year!

19. Philadelphia Eagles: Gosder Cherilus, OT, BC

The Eagles didn’t do a poor job with run blocking this year and they did a very good job blocking for screens. However, if they want to keep McNabb healthy for Kolb then they better protect the QB when they are trying to throw the ball. The Eagles let up sack after sack in the G MEN game and they need to do something to counter this weakness. Another choice here would be Otah, but I am not sure if he is athletic enough to fill this role and be a productive pass blocker.

20. Dallas Cowboys: Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas

The Cowboys will most likely let go of Jones this year because his contract is up. Felix Jones played with McFadden in college and is used to running in a dual back system. Jones is a very fast receiver and is a top 5 RB in the 2008 NFL Draft. Look for the Cowboys to take either the best available RB here or the best available DB.

21. Tampa Bay Bucs: Mario Manningham, WR, MI

Bucs receivers played very well this year, but they are very, very old. Look for the Bucs to take the best WR available in this slot. I am not sure, but Manningham has played very well lately so look for him to go mid to late first round. Also look at prospects like Early Doucet, Limas Sweed, and Adarius Bowman in this slot.

22. Washington Redskins: Calais Campbell, DE, Miami

In this spot Campbell is a great pick for the Redskins. They struggled in their playoff game to get to Hasselback and pressure him—Calais could be the perfect person for this job. He is a massive individual at 6’8" and he is a good all-around player. Look for the Skins to draft him here, that is, if he’s still available.

23. Tennessee Titans: Limas Sweed, WR, Texas

I think that the Titans have to take the best tall receiver available at their first round pick. In this situation Doucet and Bowman both might to be better choices, but because Sweed has played with Vince before they’ll go with him. Another possibility is James Hardy from Indiana as he could give Vince a nice big target.

24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jeff Otah, OT, PITT

The Steelers need some more strength at their line for protection and for running, so look for them to take the best O-Lineman here. The Steelers will take their hometown boy Otah from Pitt. Otah is a very big player so my guess is he’ll either lose a little weight and speed up or he’ll be moved to the interior of the offensive line.

25. Seattle Seahawks: Ray Rice, RB, Rutgers

Ray Rice is not ranked as high as some other RBs coming into this draft, but I disagree with that assessment. I think that Rice will be taken in the first round because of his professional level of speed. He replaced Brian Leonard in Rutgers who was a second round pick last year, so look for him to be drafted even earlier than that. The Seahawks could use him right away, potentially as the main RB.

26. Jacksonville Jaguars: Adarius Bowman, WR, Ok St

The Jaguars have looked really good in the playoffs so far. Their QB was very impressive, and I will continue to tout Del Rio as the smartest coach in the league for his decision to get rid of Byron. Look for the Jags to help improve their so-so receiving core with this tall, agile, and fast receiver.

27. Dallas Cowboys: Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas

Everyone knows the Cowboys’ defense is their weakness, so they’ll need to use at least one of their picks to help improve it. They are a top tier team but they need to bolster there secondary, and Talib could come in and do this right away. If they get good quality with their earlier draft pick, the Cowboys may take a CB first and then take the best RB available here

28. New York Giants: Antoine Cason, CB, AZ

The Giants looked very good in their first playoff game. Their receiving core is certainly aging, but I believe they will address that in the second and third round. Look for the Giants to take Cason, if he is still available, to support their much-improved defense.

29. San Diego Chargers: Pat Sims*, DT, AU

The Chargers gave up the most rushing yards in a single game to Adrian Peterson. Therefore, look for them to take a big DT to help stop this run. Sims is not only over 300 lbs., but he can also run a sub-5 second 40-yard dash. This guy is just a junior, but if he declares look for him to be a first round choice.

30. San Francisco 49ers(Colts): James Hardy, WR, IU

The 49ers' offense was very weak this season, relying solely on Frank Gore to carry the team. Alex Smith needs some more weapons to work with and James Hardy is the perfect player to help a QB move forward in the passing game. He's a very tall receiver with great hands.

31. Green Bay Packers: Dejaun Tribble, CB, BC

The Packers' corners are both over 30 years old. The receivers are young and Favre is young at heart so the Packers will decide to draft a young CB and rejuvenate their team. Overall this team will be set for the future with a young receiving group and a good backup QB.

www.newnfldraft.com

newNFLDRAFT.com 2008 Mock Draft
