Hungry for Another Mike Tyson? Look No Further Than Brock Lesnar

Forget asking ourselves who will save boxing. Forget about wondering when another young Mike Tyson will come along. We have found a savior in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. We have found a true American heavyweight for people to rally behind.

Brock Lesnar was born to be a fighter. He was born and raised in small town South Dakota to a hard-working family. From the time he was able to stand, he has learned the importance of hard work and discipline.

This hard work and discipline carried over into his athletics and in the classroom. He excelled in football and wrestling in high school and eventually earned a scholarship to the University of Minnesota, where he became an NCAA champion.

After college he did what all of us want to do. Make money. He was offered a lucrative deal from the WWE and became a multi-millionaire in a matter of months.

But deep down, Lesnar's inner lion was yearning for true competition. A chance to be the Gladiator he was born to be and dominate an opponent without a script. His thirst for competition was quenched when President Dana White from the UFC offered him a contract.

He is exactly what fight fans have been wanting ever since the glory days of Tyson. A true American heavyweight who can dominate the fight game. Unlike Tyson, he will be an example to our children. If our children choose to make fighting their sport they will have Lesnar as a guide to show them that the road to success is through college.

He is someone who we can admire and respect. On November 15th, 2008 he will be tested by UFC Heavyweight Champion, Randy Couture. America will be watching with great anticipation to see if Lesnar can begin his legendary run for glory and become the champion we have missed for a long, long time.

49ers Pan off Nolan While Finding Gold with Mike Singletary

Mike Singletary was known as "The Heart of the Defense" during the glory days of "The Monsters of the Midway." Some of us remember his intimidating stare and how he dominated his position. Off the field he was, and still is, a good man.

He has helped in many charity organizations. And, with his knowledge and leadership, he has climbed the ranks to be a coach in the NFL.

The horrible start to the 49ers' season was a gold mine in disguise. Nolan's firing unearthed the man who projected fear deep into the heart of every team he played against.

Singletary was a gentleman in his glory just as much as he was a gentleman in his defeat. With Singletary at the helm, his attitude will be contagious among the 49ers, and they will be more unified because of it.

Many critics might say that he isn't ready to be head coach.

Well, in my opinion, I think you will see the same grit, guts, and leadership that was displayed by Ditka. My prediction is that not only will Singletary be a great coach, but he will be a better coach than Ditka. Why? Because unlike Ditka he will put his team in the spotlight and be a quiet leader with a thunderous influence among his players.

Soon, very soon, Singletary will transform this team. We will see leaders born and show boats die. We will see smart calls on offense and gutsy defensive schemes that will leave opposing QB's second guessing their choice to play in the NFL. Sports writers alike will be scrambling to find a nickname for this new defense in red and gold.

I can't wait to see.

NBA Job Opportunity: Savior Wanted

I am 26 and confused. Do you remember how great it was to watch the NBA every Sunday when the greatest basketball player that has ever lived electrified audiences? Do you remember the class, the work ethic, and teamwork that existed on all teams when he played?

My childhood was spent watching Michael Jordan on television and then going out in the backyard and shooting hoops trying to mimic every one of his moves. I would take the broomstick and lower the goal to 7 feet, dunk over Dikembe Mutombo, and back pedal to the sidewalk smiling and wagging my finger back and forth.

When my mom went to the store gallons of Gatorade would be requested so that I could "Be like Mike" Not only was Jordan a great athlete, but he was a good man. He wanted to make everyone around him better. He was my idol.

Now I can't help but wonder what he is thinking about the league that he brought to prominence. A league that has now left mainstream television and is full of fist fights, no teamwork, and corrupt officials.

When Jordan left it was as if a foundation was stripped from a house. My hope for the children I hope to have someday is that there will be another player worthy of putting back the pieces of the league that Jordan built.
