Darcy Tucker vs. Sean Avery: Battle Resumes Oct. 18

Alright, ladies and gentlemen...the main event is back! Yes, hockey season has started, and there will be some phenomenal goals, great passes, funny bloopers, earth-rattling hits, blood, controversy, and, of course, some fights!

But the real entertainment is the soap opera drama that Darcy Tucker and Sean Avery seem to bring us every year. The battle on the ice will resume Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. in Dallas, but the "War of the Words" has begun already, with Avery referring to Tucker as the biggest donkey in the league...what that means exactly is beyond me. It's definitely not a compliment.

I haven't heard if Tucker has retaliated with words, but we know that when the puck drops it'll be pandemonium all over again. My money is on Tucker; he gets those crazy eyes when he is fighting...and a big smile. It scares me to think he is enjoying himself that much during a fight!

Avery, on the other hand, he's got the mouth but cant really back it up, as he isn't really the greatest fighter. Either way, it'll be fun to watch! Let's hope they keep it somewhat clean, though I'd love to see Darcy try to carve Avery's eyes out with the blade of his stick again! Now that was good TV!

It's just my opinion, but this is one of the league's best man-on-man rivalries for sure!

Colorado Avalanche at Dallas Stars, Saturday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m.

Big Hurt For Big Bert: Todd Bertuzzi Suffers Ankle Injury

So last night as I sat and watched a great preseason matchup between the Flames and Oilers, I thought to myself "How do I forgive Todd Bertuzzi for that unjust thing he did?"

I know a lot of you have gotten over it, and I'd love to just forgive the guy...but I haven't, and I can't.

HOW COULD BERTUZZI CHANGE HIS NUMBER!?!?!

As I flicked back and forth between a couple shows and the game, I caught a glimpse of a Calgary player injured on the ice. Took me a second to realize it was Big Bert.

During a five-on-three power play for the Flames last night, Bertuzzi assumed his usual position—his tush in the face of the opposing goaltender. While attempting to screen a Marc Giordano blast from the point, Todd was struck in the ankle and immediately collapsed.

Now I was a little upset by this, as I had picked him in my hockey pool earlier that day, as I know quite a few of you have. For some reason, Bertuzzi became the "Golden Boy" of dark horses for hockey pools around the world, with everyone rationalizing that Iron Mike would get him back on track.

I bought the hype like the rest of you, and for the first period and a little bit of the second, he did look a little more like the Bertuzzi of old. Lets hope the rest of the season brings good fortune to Todd—he's an old school Canadian warrior when he plays his game, which he should be playing come Flames opening night.

Although Bert was unable to put weight on his leg on his way to the bench, the injury appears to be minor. Keenan stated that his injury wasn't a fracture, just a bruise, so we should see the big guy back in the lineup in no time.
