Hometown Kid Moving East?

2011 might be the saddest year in Twins' history. The hometown kid, Mauer, might leave his hometown for the East Coast. Mauer's contract ends after 2010 and he will be the highest valued free agent in baseball.

Minnesota has the chance of signing Mauer back, but the Yankees and Red Sox will be putting up a fight. Both teams have aging catchers and they will both be fighting for Mauer for roughly $200 million.

The Twins are a young, developing team. It is hard to keep a top notch player for years in a small organization. The Yankees and Red Sox are the two highest grossing teams in baseball and will have the money for Mauer.

If he does decide to go with another team, I am pretty sure that Minnesota would not be mad for long. But Justin Morneau, a long time friend and teammate, said, "If you (Mauer) leave, I will not talk to you again."

But what would you, the fan, do? If you were offered $200 million, would you take it or be with the team you were born with?

After his contract is up, Mauer will have to choose, rich sell out or beloved hometown hero.

A Royal Beating In the Midwest

What a start for the Kansas City Royals. The 7-6 Royals are taking the American League Central Division by storm. Trading places with the Cleveland Indians, who are last in the division and were predicted to be at the top of the standings, they are intimidating other teams.

The main contributor so far is Mark Teahen with a .340 batting average and the new recruit Mike Jacobs bringing the power, off his 32 home run season last year, blasting four HR so far this year.

Coco Crisp is starting off slow, but the Royals are expecting a lot from Coco, especially his speed.

The main part of there winning is there pitcher Zack Greinke. He has started off phenomenally this season, with a 3-0 start with one complete game and an astonishing 0.00 ERA. They are hoping he will keep up his power.

After their astonishing season so far, the Royals are predicted now to take the American League Central. I, as a Twins fan, hope they don't, but if they do, congrat's to them.

Mark Martin's Final Year Hopes To Have a Happy Ending

If you are a NASCAR fan, you know the name Mark Martin. He is the most beloved man in all of racing. I have been a fan of Mark's from and early age, and I will still be a fan tell the day I die.

One thing Mark Martin is known for, sadly, is not winning at Daytona 500 and most importantly not winning a championship. Mark has been the runner up for the championship for four years (1990, 1994, 1998, 2002). He would have won in 1990, but he was penalized 46 points for using an illegal, non NASCAR approved, car part. Other then that he has only came up a little short.

He almost won at the Daytona 500 two years ago, but lost to Kevin Harvick by a few hundreth's of a second. This year I believed he would have won, but there was a rain delay which led to his former teammate, Matt Kenseth, winning.

As for the Daytona 500, Mark will have to wait next year, but for this years championship, Mark will have to get into gear and race.

He has tough competition, such as, Dale Earnhardt Jr., which has been this decades fan favorite, Kyle Bush, who had a phenomenal year last year, Carl Edwards, who finished seconds last year and was Mark's former teammate, and most importantly Jimmie Johnson, who is looking for a record breaking fourth championship in a row.

Mark is known for being a top 10 finish racer, but I think he will have to do better. Some say just let him win the Daytona 500 and the Championship. Others say he will have to work for it. I say he will win if he races every lap like it is the last won and more.

The choise is his. He knows everyone is routing for him, so he has backup, and he also has heart, courage and the will to win. If he uses all those elements, He will be holding his first (and most likely) last championship.

Francisco Liriano's Future Looks Bright

The face of Minnesota's pitching is back!

Francisco Liriano is back for a full season and feels better then ever.

After missing the whole 2007 season and part of the 2008 season with an arm injury which led to Tommy John's surgery, Liriano will be starting a full length season. He is making sure he can come back to his old self, and arguably better, by working as hard as ever during spring training.

To be as ready as possible he has decided not to participate in the World Baseball Classic for the Dominican Republic, but instead he has decided to stay in camp for this season.

After having a Rookie of the Year and potential Cy Young award winning season in 2006 before the surgery, Liriano seams to be wanting more this year. With a full season, people are expecting a handful of wins, a decent ERA, a Cy Young potent WHIP, and possibly an All-Star selection.

By God, I believe he can make all this possible and so does the Twins organization, the Twins Territory of Minnesota, and maybe even the whole Country.

But most of all, the person that believes in Francisco Liriano the most is Francisco Liriano.

Minnesota Twins: Small Franchise, Big Name

The Minnesota Twins are known for being a small franchise, low budget team. This year, though, they seem to be larger then life, and it's barely the preseason!

The reason I say they are larger then life is because they have been the talk of teams. Put A-Rod aside, you have the Twins at the top.

Don't believe me? Look at some of the articles on the Bleacher Report alone. A lot are about the Twins winning or losing, best players or worst, etc. It may be hard to believe, but this could be the year the Twins aren't the underdog but the top dog.

Matt Kenseth Shouldn't Have Won

The Daytona 500 was a blast, and I enjoyed every moment of it, but I don't think it should have finished with a rain delay.

You know how in baseball, if there is a rain delay the teams make it up? I think they should do that in NASCAR.

I strongly believe that there were more competitors to win the race and that it would be an exciting finish like two years ago.

Matt Kenseth is a great racer, but I don't think this was his race to win. Sorry Kenseth fans.

We did get to see the big one though. I blame Earnhardt but that is another story.

Why Don't I Get MLB Network?

I love watching ESPN mostly during baseball season. Then I heard there was going to be a major league channel like the NFL Network. I was excited.

I have DISH Network and I looked at all my channels. I can't find the MLB Network. So I go on the website, and they say only Direct TV and Comcast have it. I think they should have had all the major providers receive the MLB Network. If you have a DISH and have MLB Network, please tell me how you got it.

Twins Win World Series, With Pitching

I have a strong feeling about the Twins going all the way, and I think a lot of people would agree with me.

I may be a little biased because I am a Twins fan, but if someone asked me two days ago, I would have had less feelings about the World Series.

I would have said they would need a strong third baseman and a bullpen. Now we have got it with Joe Crede, and our pitchers now know how it feels to play major league baseball with a year under their belt.

If we had this team last year, we wouldn't have had that one-game playoff, we would have been in the playoffs.

This year it will happen.

The thing with the Twins, though, is that they either start off slow and then get hot, or the other way around. This year, they will hopefully be consistent.

Trading Johan Santana: Another Bump as Twins Head Downhill

What is wrong with the Twins?

They are giving away Johan Santana after losing star player Tori Hunter, and they had the thought of trading Luis Castillo. These are three of our top players!

Now we are left with hometown hero Joe Maur and Canadian slugger Justin Morneau.

Luckily, we are getting Francisco Liriano, but will that be enough?

I have the utmost respect for the Twins organization and truly admire Maur and Morneau, who's my favorite Twin. It will, however, be strange without '48' in centerfield and without '54' manning the mound.

I’ll still root for you, Twins, but in the future, please make more sensible deals with our best players.
