Manchester United expected to land Dimitar Berbatov in £28m deal

Manchester United are expected to strike a deal with Tottenham in the next 24 hours and put an end to months of speculation surrounding the player's future.

It now looks as though the future of Dimitar Berbatov has been decided and he will be a Manchester United player by the time the new season starts after reports said that Berbatov's agent, Emil Dantchev has been working on a deal last night for the star who has made it clear that he wants to join the European Champions.

Manchester United are expected to table a £28m bid for the striker and Spurs who have been holding out for £30m are expected to settle for slightly less.

Spurs hoped to hang on to their man who has scored 46 goals since joining them from Bayer Leverkusen in July 2006.

But with the player's desire to join the European Champions and play Champions League football it looks like they have lost the battle of keeping him at White Hart Lane.

Chelsea make a £78m swoop for AC Milan's Kaka

AC Milan's play maker Kaka look's set to join Chelsea in a world record £78m deal according to reports.

The player who is reportedly not happy at the San Siro since being refused permission to go to the Olympic games is apparently waiting for the two club's to negotiate a deal.

His personal assistant Diogo Kotscho said on Sunday, "We know that the club's are talking about the transfer, although they have not reached a conclusion yet."

"He is waiting for a deal and then he will start to negotiate with Chelsea."

Kaka who is currently under contract with AC Milan until 2012 was voted Fifa's world player of the year in 2007 and would be a fantastic signing for Chelsea.

There have been several new signing's since the arrival of Big Phil at Stamford Bridge in July including Deco and Bosingwa.

Should Kaka join Chelsea, he would be joning an ever increasing Portugese speaking side.

Manchester United who have been chasing Dimitar Berbatov all summer are now looking at other options in their quest to sign a new striker during this season's transfer window.

One of the options may be Barcelona's Thierry Henry who has not been happy since joining the Spanish giants.

31-year-old Henry has said in the past he would never join another English club apart from making a return to his beloved Arsenal.

Another option is Blackburn's Roque Santa Cruz who is also being targeted by other clubs which include Arsenal and Manchester City.

However with the transfer window drawing nearer to a close United will have little time in signing a striker to put a halt to the striker crisis they are having at the moment.

So, who will the Red Devils sign?

Alex Ferguson was left reeling this summer with European rivals Real Madrid for their part in trying to coax his star man Cristiano Ronaldo to sign for them.

Real Madrid, who have been trying to lure the winking winger with a move to the Bernabeu all summer, have finally lost their battle in signing the 23-year-old player of the year—for this season at least.

Furious Ferguson, having burned all bridges with Real Madrid, was reported to say, “He is a Manchester United player. He is going to be playing here next season. Believe me, it is all over.”

Well, that may be so for now. But what will happen next season?

Ronaldo, who has said it was his childhood dream to play for Real, still has four years left on his contract. And with Sir Alex fuming over the whole scenario, will Ronaldo ever play for Real?
