CBS: March Madness Traffic Up 60% Over Last Year

The first two rounds of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament via CBS' on-demand digital service attracted 5.6 million unique visitors, a 60% audience gain over last year. Thursday to Sunday = viewers watched 6.5 million hours of live streaming games.

Flip Flop Alert. NY Post scribe Steve Serby wrote on Dec. 29th in his HEY, WOODY: IT'S TIME TO CAN-GINI article that, "a champion assistant coach like Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo needs to be interviewed," Ok fine.

Serby added on Jan. 1 in the article, IT'S TIME FOR FAVRE TO BRETT OUT OF WAY, "Steve Spagnuolo is the best name out there now—the perfect temperament for this market, the perfect guy to rally a defense, absolutely ready after years under Andy Reid, Jim Johnson, and Coughlin to be this year's Tony Sparano, Mike Smith, or John Harbaugh," while we were talking about a certain Rex Ryan...

So what does the wind blow in today? RYAN MUST CONQUER GHOSTS OF 'GAG' GREEN PAST where Antonio Pierce's buddy now says, "You bet this is a job for the Rexorcist." In a back page cover article no less!

Why?

Alcohol is enough to reduce muscle strength for up 60 hours. "If you're there to perform, you shouldn't be drinking alcohol," said Matt Barnes, author of the study.

"That's two mornings and three mornings later," Barnes said. "With the alcohol the loss of muscle performance was far greater - nearly twice as much. Normally you would expect to see weakness or loss in performance after strenuous exercise but the alcohol really exacerbated that.

"This shows that if you drink even moderate levels of alcohol after you use your muscles strenuously you are impairing your ability to recover and I would say if you are serious about your sport, you shouldn't be drinking alcohol in the post-match or recovery period."

Bob Mantz reports: I never had a problem in the 10 or so years that I've done executive search. (Ok, maybe once.) But in the time that writing has paid the bills—we've been in touch with Federal Agencies twice. Not once but Twice!

Having the local PD drive through the development 3-4x per day helps, as does our 80lb german shepherd Zero; I rarely travel without AG (and at 350lbs, he outweighs me by nearly 100lbs) as well as WM, and I keep another friend near me at home under the pillow...I even had Zero in the car at 4 am this morning when I decided to get coffee.

Maybe we should have known when, ahem, "Jimmy_The_Greek" was curious as to when we would be announcing our Conference Championship predictions...But we were nicely asked by two separate organizations not to release our choices until Sunday.

Going 7-1 with a perfect 4-0 roll through the Divisional Playoffs might have put some unwanted eyes here. We are not going to stop and we're not going to wait until Sunday either. Depending on how this plays out we might slow our writing after this for the rest of the week—it all depends.

We also are not going to mention anyone else. No need.

2009 AFC Conference Championship

Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl changing his name to Steelerstahl aside—this is our favorite of the two matchups this weekend. The line has hovered around -6 for the Pittsburgh Steelers and we like that line. If it goes to seven, we'd make it a best bet.

The Arizona Cardinals at home as underdogs in the Conference Championship is an aberration. Most spreads for this have been in the -3.5 to 4 point range for the Philadelphia Eagles. Bodog briefly had it at -4.5 and we jumped on.

Hotter? Woody Johnson's Jets or His Daughter Casey?

The New York Post reports that New York Jets owner Woody Johnson's daughter Casey is wearing her hair a lot like I do, and that is a buzzcut.

Why? Casey reportedly had a fight one night with her ex-girlfriend Courtenay Semel, who is Lindsay Lohan's bud, according to Lisa Marie Alvarez, who told Page Six.

So why the haircut? Apparently Casey went to Courtenay's house, and Courtenay proceeded to beat the crap out of her, and then she lit her hair on fire.

Casey had to be hospitalized.

Ouch!

In other news the Blitz is the leading NFL Handicapper this 2009 Playoff Season going 7-1.

Dan Peterson reports that the more an athlete is associated with his product - i.e., Tiger Woods with a golf club not Tiger with a Buick. LeBron James with Microsoft...also not so much.

Peterson writes, "Marketers are now trying to make use of this brain function by observing consumers' brain activity using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). In his recent book "Buyology" (2008, Broadway Books), Martin Lindstrom begins to apply this neuroscience to why we buy things."

Roger Dooley, consultant and author of the blog Neuromarketing, says, "While the individual hearing the sales pitch may be listening to the words, her brain's mirror neurons are firing at the same time in reaction to the salesperson's emotions, demeanor, etc.

"If there's a disconnect between the words that are cognitively processed and the emotions that are mirrored, the pitch will probably be less effective. Neuromarketers should take note, too; while ads normally employ professional actors who have the ability to accurately simulate the desired emotions and state of mind, pitches that use celebrity athlete endorsers...may suffer if the viewer finds the emotions don't match the words."

CMU Students Put Sensors, GPS, and Accelerometers into Footballs

CMU Students put sensors, GPS & Accelerometers into Footballs resulting in a ball that perfectly emulates a Ryan Leaf pass each and every time.

No, just kidding.

Carnegie Mellon students and their professor, Dr. Priya Narasimhan, have created a "smart football” and “smart gloves.” The result eventually would be a football that could alert refs whether the ball touched the ground, broke the plane, or was caught in-bounds.

Dr. Priya Narasimhan's bio states that she "devotes spare time to watching professional football games. Part of her research is focused on Football Engineering & Research, to improve the viewing, training, scouting and playing aspects of the game through technology. She is a rabid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Penguins."

The NFL still would have called the Steelers TD against the Chargers back.

NFL's Suspicious Blown Call Creates Playoff Tiebreaker Problem

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The first 11-10 game in NFL history shouldn't have ended that way, referee Scott Green said after a last-minute touchdown was errantly taken away from the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

Right now, the focus is on how this affects bettors.

The Steelers play the Ravens late in the year. Pitt is 7-3 and Baltimore is 6-4 (having lost to the Steelers earlier in the year by three points). That game could theoretically tie the two clubs for the division lead. It could affect A LOT of 6-4 and 7-3 teams (even...insert conspiracy theory here...the Chargers).

NFL.com states:

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

Two Clubs

1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in common games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
12. Coin toss

Look at No. 7. Right now, the difference is a measly 17 points. Got Hines? Just sayin'...

Bob's Blitz Bags the "Broadway Bombshell" Jenn Sterger

Jenn "Broadway Bombshell" Sterger turned a chance 15 second TV glimpse and a Brent Musberger comment into appearances in Maxim and Playboy magazines (within one month of each other) and a job writing for Sports Illustrated.

Now she is host of the New York Jets’ “Keys to the Game” pregame show at home games and handles halftime & sideline journalistic duties.

But things haven’t always gone smoothly for Sterger. The Internet—which helped fuel her wild popularity—has also been a breeding ground for detractors.

A Google of "Jenn Sterger" pulls up tens of thousands of fan sites and admirers. But it also pulls up thousands of derogatory comments and falsehoods.

Jenn joined Bob Mantz and the Blitz for a 45-minute conversation today. This double major (psychology and criminal justice) is almost at the three-year anniversary of the Musberger statement (Sept. 5) and is proving all the cynics wrong. 15 minutes? Hardly.

The Blitz will present this article in two parts. We’re going to address all of the web misconceptions, her thoughts on Erin Andrews, and…why the hell she was driving to Tampa with blood on her hands.

We will be receiving some never-before published photos of Jenn that will grace Part II—hopefully appearing Friday, Sept. 5, 2008. We also have been told that she will have some breaking news next week to report. Stay tuned.

Bob’s Blitz: How’s Jersey been treating you?

Jenn Sterger: It’s a little different than I’m used to, but Hoboken has been great.

BB: Well, you’ve got Florida-like weather here this week. And they’ve got Hannah.

JS: It’s actually a lot nicer than Florida right now. Hanna sucks, but Gustov just skirted my parents, so they’re ok.

BB: Well that’s good to hear. Thank you for calling us today.

JS: No worries!

BB: What was your relationship with the Jets prior to joining them full time this season? I’ve seen you on the sidelines a few times the past couple of years.

JS: The Jets had me do celebrity interviews, and they also had me there as a celebrity guest, as a Playboy model, and as an SI columnist. They received a very good response to me and liked how I interacted with the fans.

So this year they thought I would be a great face for the Jets, utilizing an idea that the Philadelphia Eagles use—a totally in-house media production center and something other than random dudes in the box above.

So they gave me a shot and, and I’ve had an absolute blast so far this season. The work is Jets’ property and will be Jets’ web material, but I am hoping SNY and CBS pick up some of it as well. I’ve done some interviews for SNY, and anything that they pick up would be awesome.

BB: What is your security detail like while you patrol the sidelines?

JS: I have a bodyguard—Tim—and he is excellent. He can throw down. The Jets haven’t introduced me into the crowd yet—I’m mostly on the sidelines—but once I start to do crowd interviews (if we decide to go that route) and such, he will be a big help.

BB: Well, just a tip for Tim: If he sees "Broadway Joe" and Joe’s had a couple, keep him away from you.

JS: Laughter. I know! Exactly, right.

BB: Sarah Palin is an ex-sports journalist and she’s just been named VP candidate for John McCain. You’ve said that, in the end, you want to "matter." So what do you do from here?

JS: I look at every opportunity and don’t rule things out. I’ve turned things down that were not a good fit. The Jets seemed like a great move for me. I’m really liking the city, which is something that I didn’t think I’d ever say! I don’t plan on running for VP anytime soon, but later in life, if the shoe fits, then so be it.

BB: OK, I want to clarify some things. There are misconceptions on the Internet.

JS: Oh, believe me, that’s my day to day.

BB: Ever met Brent Musberger?

JS: Met him at the University of Oregon, and I was shocked that he remembered me. He said that he had no idea what was going to come from those 15 seconds of film, but that I gave him one of the best cutaway shots they’d had in years.

It was a blast meeting him, and he’s a super nice guy. I run into his crew from time to time, and they always ask for new pictures and such and, of course, I am very gracious about that! He’s an outstanding sportscaster, and I absolutely love him.

BB: And it just snowballed from there—those 15 seconds?

JS: Within six months, Playboy and Maxim had tracked me down and published. Playboy’s recruiters asked around. They said we do not know who she is but here’s a picture and luckily my boss at the time said, “Oh yeah, she’ll be into work in an hour.”

Maxim found me as well and fast tracked the issue. I was in New York for the first time ever, freezing cold in December, a few days later and the Maxim layout came out in March followed by Playboy in April. And I was able to see New York at Christmas time.

BB: Cool. So, how long after Maxim did SI contact you?

JS: SI contacted me in February of 2006, looking for me to write about the whirlwind that had been my life since Sept. 5, 2005. So I wrote them a story that was passed to their editors, and they were shocked that I was able to write complete sentences.

Then they tried me out doing a sports-themed advice column that grew into gameday interviews and articles, talking about what it is like to be the college fan.

BB: So why did it end? Were you fired?

JS: I had a contract. I fulfilled all my obligations, but it seemed like my time with them had run its course. I have a great relationship with them still, and I look at assignments with them on a case-to-case basis.

I was not fired, like some say I was. And I was upset that no one took to defending me on the Internet when it came to that "story," because I was never fired.

I had done everything that I could do with them, and your career needs to progress at some point. I keep them in my speed dial, and they are about to do an article on my signing up with the Jets. I have a great relationship with them, so if things work out with them in the future, awesome.

BB: OK, so we’ve taken care of one thing. I know you are going to love this one. Reality TV. Ever audition for any of it?

JS: I have never auditioned for reality TV. I have met with producers regarding opportunities, but you know what? My life is not a hot enough mess for them. They need so much more drama...than my life is...I don’t have this psychological disorder resume to get on one of those shows.

I’m not trying to date Flavor Flav or Brett Michaels or anyone like that so there really is no point to me doing reality TV at this point.

BB: And you know the psychology of it because you were a double major in psych and criminology, right?

JS: Exactly!

BB: So Law School was a definite possibility?

JS: It was a definite possibility! I still toy with the idea from time to time. I definitely will end up going to law school. The work I’ve done to date will allow me to attend, perhaps, Stetson or even go back to Florida State University College of Law and not have it be a financial liability for my parents.

BB: OK, back to now. Two weeks away from Jets-Patriots and your first real Jets game as the sideline girl.

JS: Doing this in front of 80,000 people from New Jersey and New York is not like rehearsing in front of the PTA or my parents. It is intimidating. The fans need to get there early. And part of the reason that the New York Jets decided to have me do these shows is to hopefully get some of the people out of the parking lot and into their seats earlier.

I know there were actually people tailgating for the Giants game at 7 AM! We’d like folks to come in and enjoy themselves, perhaps with an adult beverage, but out of the parking lot and into the stadium. It makes everything so much easier.

BB: Yes, the Blitz has seen buses heading down the Turnpike very early in the morning on game day. 80,000 fans & a huge game against the Super Bowl losers looming in less than two weeks. Who is working harder – "Broadway Brett’s" Jets or "the Broadway Bombshell?"

JS: I think we equally have our jobs cut out for us. Brett Favre obviously has been doing this a little longer than I have...a little bigger resume...but he has a lot to prove in NY. He’s done a great job bonding with his team and watching his first game in the Meadowlands against Washington how the fans received him was just awesome!

It was one of those things where you could just feel like you were witnessing history. They all gathered in the tunnel, and then they all ran out as teammates for the first time with him being a Jet, and I think that was one of the coolest things I’ve ever watched.

I watched from the tunnel where you can look out and see the bright lights, and when he ran out...the fan reaction...you just had chills down your spine.

BB: And that was a preseason game. Wait two weeks.

JS: I know. Wait two weeks and it’s against Tom Brady and the Patriots.

BB: Have you interviewed Favre?

JS: I have not interviewed Brett yet, and I would love to. He has a great story, and that includes his wife Deanna and her battle with breast cancer. I think he is one of the most outstanding guys in the NFL.

BB: OK, let’s clear up another one.

JS: Sure...

BB: ESPN Radio. Erin Andrews. Suck it or 2nd?

The Blitz will have the second part of the Jenn Sterger Success Story and the answer to the Erin Andrews question hopefully up by Friday. We are awaiting photos from a Sterger Shoot (taking place today, Sept. 2, 2008) as well as some other never-before published shots.

We’ll find out who takes longer to prep for a shot—Sterger or Andrews—Jenn’s prediction on the Jets' record, and a why was she driving to Tampa with blood on her hands, hoping the cops didn’t stop her.

Eventually, we will make limited audio of the interview available where Jenn addressed specific questions that were previously taken as fact with no proof or citations given.

WWE ECW Diva Dawn Marie to Hold Benefit for Retired Pro Wrestlers

I graduated with Wrestling Diva Dawn Marie Psaltis in 1989. Even though back then she was simply Dawn Psaltis, she's gone on to do some very nice things professionally!

One of them is a benefit called Wrestler's Rescue on September 15, 2008 in New Jersey.

We've heard of the plight of ex NFL players, etc. Can you imagine how bad off some of the ex-wrestlers are? Wrestler's Rescue is a fund raiser with a list of guests my arm long including Captain Lou Albano, Traci Bingham, Superfly Snuka, Greg "the Hammer" Valentine, and my boy Mick Foley, plus tons more (see the website for details).

The whole reason for the event is to help "raise monies to support the health care needs of Retired Professional Wrestlers." I received this email from my bodyguard, Agahzi (who works for NFL Sirius and Sirius' Tony Stewart show) this morning:

"Former WWE Diva Dawn Marie has put together a benefit called Wrestlers Rescue. She is drawing some much needed attention to the fact that pro wrestlers do not get health insurance.

"A lot of guys are in a really bad way right now and something needs to be done. These guys literally end up killing themselves. Please check this out. We will be broadcasting a show live from the benefit on www.presspassradio.com

"We hope to have a lot of the wrestlers in attendance on our show. I encourage you all to come down. It's a good cause and I'm sure you will have a good time.

Wrestlers rescue will be focusing on three stages of growth.

Tito Ortiz and Jenna Jameson Parents?

MMA fighter and retired UFCer Tito Ortiz is going to be a daddy.

The NY Post is reporting that Ortiz's girlfriend and ex-porn queen Jenna Jameson is pregnant. "She had a bunch of meetings and things planned for Fashion Week, including meetings for her own line, but she's postponed everything," said the Post's source.

Jameson had a miscarriage while married to ex Jay Grdina and in-vitro had failed in the past as well. So best wishes to the couple. That would be one athletic bambino.

BR Exclusive: MLB Announces Every All-Star Game to be Played at Yankee Stadium

Major League Baseball announced this morning that all future MLB All-Star Games will be played at the new Yankee Stadium. The announcement came on the heels of a 3:59pm trade yesterday that brought the American League All-Star team to the Bronx.

The new Yankees team will have a combined payroll of just over half a billion dollars. Yanks owner, George Steinbrenner said that the team would be paid in Euros € due to the better exchange rate. Reached for comment, Hideki Matsui said, "I don' tはどんな銀行を使用する私が必要があるか知っている."

Hank Steinbrenner, Senior Vice President of the club, quickly traded Manny Ramirez to the Pittsburgh Pirates for pitchers John Grabow, Zach Duke, and Tyler Yates so that he would have 'pitchers who are used to batting and running the bases' during interleague games. Marty Schottenheimer Joins SIRIUS Satellite Radio

SIRIUS Satellite Radio announced that ex-San Diego Charger coach Marty Schottenheimer has joined the station. Marty will start broadcasting Monday, Aug. 4.

Subscribers will be able to call in and talk to the former NFL'er and possible Hall of Famer on his show, "Movin' the Chains." He'll also have duties hosting "The SIRIUS Blitz" and he'll join in on "The Red Zone."

There was no immediate information available on whether the new gig will put a crimp in his $40,000 per event speaking career, or whether he will be allowed on-air during the pressure of the NFL playoff season.

WPHT's Larry Andersen Suggests Balls Across NY Met Jose Reyes' Nose

Newsday's Neil Best reported that WPHT 1210's radio analyst Larry Andersen said in regards to Jose Reyes' home run celebration yesterday, "Somebody ought to put one in his neck." WPHT is aptly called 'The BIG Talker'.

I guess Andersen would suggest the same for Phillies' Jimmy Rollins celebration Tuesday or Shane Victorino's stare and clap into the Mets dugout after scoring in the ninth? (And why was Rollins benched yet again today...late to the stadium.)

Funny how guys in a booth 200 feet away make aggressive statements towards 5'10" 190 lbs. players. This, also, coming from a guy who hit a grand total of 17 batters in his 17 MLB seasons. Imposing.

Do you want to bet me Andersen would not have suggested such actions against Darryl Strawberry or Ray Knight? No way he suggests balls to the face of either of those two.

Either way—it was unprofessional and inciting. An apology is not enough—he should be fined and suspended.

Maybe Eugene is still upset at his ESPN vote for one of the worst deadline trades ever or his Wikipedia entry:

Jets Won't Address Favre Rumor Citing 'Tampering'

The New York Daily News' Rich Cimini reports that the New York Jets will not address Brett Favre rumors citing 'tampering' as a concern.

If the answer was no - we are not interested - tampering would not be a concern. Bleacher Report scooped the story that the Jets might be talking internally about Favre way back on July 15. So one would have to assume that they are indeed exploring the Favre option.

Cimini wrote that, "[Vernon] Gholston will show up eventually, but not Brett Favre, the aforementioned elephant. Even though the Daily News has reported the Jets aren't interested in a trade, the Favre rumors are rampant, and they won't die in part because the Jets won't address the matter publicly. GM Mike Tannenbaum, through a team spokesman, declined to comment, citing tampering rules.

"We have guys here, so I wouldn't even do that," wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery said of a potential Favre deal. "My teammates feel very confident in the guys we have."

Scout.com indicated that, "The New York Jets players, coaches and front office types found themselves deflecting questions about Favre as well, saying they’re happy with Chad Pennington and Kellen Clemens and don’t expect to discuss potential trade offers." How coy are the Jets being with the comment, "don’t expect to discuss potential trade offers..."? And, really, do you feel fans, Laveranues Coles, Dustin Keller and the Johnson family are really happy with the combined 15 TDs and 19 INTs that Chad & Kellen combined for in 2007?

So, based on Tannenbaum's use of the tampering excuse - I still believe that the Jets are discussing bringing #4 to New Jersey. If backup punter Joe Smith is willing to give up his jersey.

WNBA has New Promotional Strategy: Brawl

The WNBA took a page out of the NBA's playbook: Brawl in Auburn Hills. The fight took place in the last five seconds of the LA Sparks victory over the Detroit Shock.

The event was the biggest news story for the league since 2002, when Latasha Byears of...the LA Sparks...whipped a ball to the face of Seattle Storm member Michelle Marciniak.

Katie Smith of the Shock said, "This is pretty rare."

Four players were ejected following yesterday's melee along with assistant Coach Rick Mahorn. Mahorn was playing peacemaker when he pushed over an LA player.

I only know Candace Parker's name, so I can't tell who the other three were. Head Coach Bill Laimbeer said he still wanted to know why Robert Parish wasn't called for a foul.

Even Parker added, "To be honest, I don't recall exactly what happened. I'll have to watch the tape."

Candace had a very good take-down of another player, and she certainly could have gotten her into her guard if she had some MMA training—with the triangle choke a real possibility. Actually she almost had full mount.

Brett Favre and the New York Jets Looking More and More Like a Match

I wrote on July 15 that the New York Jets, as well as possibly the Bucs, Ravens, Dolphins, and Raiders, were interested in Brett Favre.

The St. Petersburg Times reported on Wednesday, July 16 that Favre had told sources close to him that Tampa Bay was "too hot," and that he prefers to play and practice in cooler weather—effectively eliminating the Bucs, Dolphins, and Raiders.

We also had Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens were unlikely to show interest in acquiring retired Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre.

An article in USA Today updated the same day as my report basically adds the Skins and Bills. However, ESPN Senior Writer John Clayton just reported on NFL Live that the Skins were very happy with QB Jason Campbell. So once again we're left with the Jets and Bills.

The Jets announced yesterday the signing of their fifth-round pick: quarterback Erik Ainge. Ainge made 35 starts for the University of Tennessee and ranks third in its history in pass completions (516), pass attempts (854), and touchdown passes (51). The 22-year-old completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 8,700 yards, 72 touchdowns, and 35 interceptions in four seasons.

The depth chart would look like this: Favre, Kellen Clemens, and Erik Ainge. It would also open up possible trade options for Clemens if he does not want to carry the clipboard for two more years.

NY Jets: Insider Says Jets May Be Talking With Packers about Brett Favre

An industry insider said yesterday that the New York Jets may be talking with the Green Bay Packers about acquiring disgruntled QB Brett Favre.

Favre said yesterday in an exclusive interview with Greta Van Susteren on Fox News that he was "guilty of retiring early." He added that he wanted to play again, but didn't feel welcomed in Green Bay.

The Jets may be thinking that Favre, along with their free agent signings this past off-season, may be enough to get the franchise to its first Superbowl since January 12, 1969.

The insider added that a possible swap might include Jets' QB Chad Pennington and a sixth round draft choice.

The Bleacher Report could not reach either Green Bay or New York for comment.

Trenton Times columnist Mark Eckel speculated today that the Packers could possibly trade Favre to the Ravens, the Dolphins, the Raiders, or the Jets—though the latter were saying that they were not interested.

However, Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens are unlikely to show interest in acquiring retired Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre. This leaves the door wide open for a Jets' end run.

Reyes was upset that Hernandez had called him a baby following a little league like tantrum on the field last week.

What Reyes really needs to do is put that pissed off energy to use on his teammates. Particularly the anti-competitor Aaron Heilman, the useless Carlos Delgado and the over-compensated Carlos Beltran. He might even ask uberpitcher Johan Santana http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1PQTXGd9T8 to try throwing a shutout or not give up two runs to give up a seventh inning lead against Philadelphia.

Reyes has been one of the players who has actually shown life on the field since the firing of Willie Randolph. The rest of the team has been going through the motions. It's nice to see Reyes care about something again -- but his energy is misdirected.

Reyes drives the Mets. Not David Wright, not Billy Wagner, not Willie and not Jerry Manuel. Jose does. Now is the time for him to get them going at his speed.
