U.S. Open Was Tiger Woods' 2008 Finale

After an incredible finish to last weekend’s U.S. Open, Tiger Woods has announced his intentions to shut it down for 2008.

According to his website, El Tigre has decided to have reconstructive ACL surgery on his left knee.

Tiger suffered a double stress fracture in his left tibia prior to the tournament, which is shocking because I can’t remember anyone mentioning any type of leg or knee injury last weekend. Apparently the white coats have assured Tiger that these stress fractures will heal completely.

I’m pretty sure this will be surgery number four on the left knee, which can’t be encouraging for the Woods camp. Sure, he’s probably the greatest ever, but to already have a “chronic” health problem at his age (32) does not bode well for the future.

Then again, he’s so rich he will probably just get one of those really cool prosthetic legs like that dude that’s been trying to qualify for the Olympics. That would be awesome.

Kobe Bryant Does Not Call the Shit ‘Poo’

Note to dude running the “bleep” button at the ESPN postgamer. Step into my office.

Why? Because you’re f-cking fired.

Kobe Bryant, in a pretty funny postgame presser that got aired live (yesss) on ESPN, dropped an s-bomb in response to a question about talk radio and how they are so optimistic.

In fairness, he’s right. And it’s not his fault, either. Last I checked, the athletes aren’t supposed to watch themselves at these things; that’s the huge media conglomerate’s job.

Although, it is admittedly surprising (and compellingly human I might add) to see such a PR monster as Kobe with a rare slip.

Props to Snyds for the GChat alert.

ShareThis

Modesto Nuts Get Fans Cheap Beer

The pride of Modesto, CA, the Nuts, found themselves in a beach-clearing brawl on Saturday night. And while fans are usualy pretty excited about such an event, this was special. How so, you ask?

Well, two reasons really.

First, the brawl lasted a cool 50 minutes, which basically means these guys are tougher than Kimbo Slice (note to Kimbo assuming he’s a reader: we overheard some of these players say this, and then mumble something about your mother. You should probobly look into it).

Second—it was during the fifth inning, which just happened to be $1-beer inning. Safe to say the 3,563 fans in attendance got their money’s worth. Just for shits and giggles, here’s a video clip of the tail end of said brawl. Note the wise choice of musical selection in the backgroung. Are we the only ones who wonder where Young MC is these days?
