Beavers Pelted by Ducks 65-38

As I watched the Ducks dominate the Beavers at Reser Stadium in the first half, I looked to my Beaver friend sitting next to me and said, "You still have the second half," and he replied, we don't have a chance.

Boy, was he right! The Beavers never got the stops they needed and the Ducks completely dominated the game from start to the finish scoring a record 65 points for a CIVIL WAR game and spoiling the Beavers opportunity to play in the Rose Bowl.

This was one of the finest performances by the Ducks from start to finish I have witnessed. I predicted a Duck upset but never thought it would unfold the way it did because I felt the Beavers defense would limit the running game and the Duck passing attack was subpar.

The Ducks Jeremiah Johnson and Jeremiah Masoli were both ready and played their best games against the Beavers putting an end to the two game CW winning streak the Beavers had on the Ducks.

Jeremiah Johnson ran wild against the Beavers finishing with 219 yards which included an 83 yard score. LeGarrette Blount helped out with 112 yards and a score against a Beaver Defense that was ranked 13th in the country. What can you say about Jeremiah Masoli? He just keeps getting better and better every snap he takes.

Masoli had his best game as a Duck completing 11-17 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns. The Ducks finished with 694 yards of total offense in the rout which included an 83 yard run, a 40 yard interception return, a 76 yard pass, a 45 yard pass, and a 70 yard interception return.

I feel Chip Kelly deserves the game ball for opening up the playbook and putting as much speed on the field as possible. I hope the Ducks can make Chip Kelly an offer that will keep him in Eugene until Mike is ready to take over as AD. Chip Kelly as the Head Coach calling the plays with MB upstairs running the entire Athletic Department is a good thing. I sure hope it works out this way.

It was fun walking around Reser in my Duck gear with a smile that went from ear to ear as the Ducks pelted the Beavers 65-38! As a side note, the tailgaiting was top notch and the Beaver fans treated me pretty well for being a DUCK on their turf. This game experience ranks in my top 10.

It looks like the QUACK ATTACK will be heading to Sunny San Diego to play in the Holiday Bowl.

Greg Oden Needs Time to Get His Groove Back

The young center hasn't played competitive basketball in a long time yet it doesn't stop people from commenting that he doesn't look like the Golden Child everyone raved about after being drafted #1 overall.

MEMO to the media who keep bugging the Golden Child:

Big Men like Greg Oden take longer to get back into basketball playing shape after major knee surgery—give it time or your interviews will suffer and fans will miss out on the comedy we fell in love with after he landed in RIP CITY!

Oden has been a hard worker his entire life of basketball and spent the entire last year rehabbing the knee doing everything the Blazers told him to do. Everyone should just be happy that his knee isn't sore and causing him trouble, but they aren't.

They expect too much too soon.

The only thing I think the Blazers training staff did wrong was allowing Greg to lift so much in the weight room. The young center has never played with so much girth and this is the reason why he looks awkward playing with other NBA players. I think it will take him at least half of a season to get his groove back against the BEST players in the world.

Forty-one games—that's when he will really start causing havoc on the court like we remember him doing before he came into the NBA after playing very little in college. Find a picture of Oden after the surgery and take a look at him now—He's completely changed.

I am taking it easy on Greg and I'm going to give him a lot more time because of all the size he's added and feel Blazer fans and the media should begin to critique his play after the All-Star Break at the very least.

Portland's Golden Child will be everything Blazer fans and the media expected and more if they just give Greg more time—his body and mind will lighten up, so why don't you?

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
