Breaking News: Mick Foley Agrees To Join TNA!

Since leaving the WWE, rumors have been swirling about this. Today, it is reported that those rumors are indeed true!

Hardcore Legend Mick Foley has agreed to terms with rival company TNA.

The details of the deal have not yet been released. It is unsure at what capacity Foley will be apart of the company.

His contract with the WWE expires at the end of August. The last time we saw Foley on television was during the much talked-about segment with Edge. During this segment, Foley urged Edge to find The Edge that he once called the best pro-wrestler in the business.

Edge got the message loud and clear. After attacking with Foley, he layed him on a table and jumped on him, off a ladder. Foley indeed un-leached the inner Edge.

Now the legend is off to TNA. Foley is mostly remembered for extreme matches. He has put his body on the line countless times, causing several injuries. Nobody will forget his match against The Undertaker in the brutal Hell in a Cell.

We know him as Mankind, as Dude Love, but most famously, as Cactus Jack. His days in ECW and WWE will not soon be forgotten.

A possible TNA debut could be during the Pay Per View "No Surrender" on Sept. 14.

As a WWE fan, I would like to say good luck to Foley.

Breaking News: John Cena Injured, Out Indefinitely

Just week's away from WWE Unforgiven, the company has lost one of its biggest stars due to injury.

Arguably the most love/hated Superstar in the WWE, John Cena has suffered a herniated disc in his neck at Summerslam. The injury happened during his match against Batista.

Cena will need surgery and will be out indefinitly. This means that a replacement will be named for RAW's Championship Scramble match later tonight on RAW.

This is a tough break for Cena, who just came back at last year's Royal Rumble from a torn pectoral muscle injury.

Indeed, this is a tough break for the WWE as well. John Cena is one of the most popular performers in the company—whether you love him or hate him—and he gets the crowd going. However, RAW has a big roster and can cope with his loss.

Who will be named as Cena's replacement for Unforgiven? Tune in later to find out!

Gail Kim Leaves TNA and Rejoins WWE—But What's in Store for Her?

This week, the Pro Wrestling world was shaken by the sudden news that TNA Knockout Gail Kim is leaving the company.

Kim's last TNA match aired last night on TNA Impact, when she fought her rival Awesome Kong in a Street Fight.

Her departure from the company leaves a big hole in the TNA Knockout division, which was gaining steam. Kim is said to be the one responsible of putting TNA's women's division on the map.

Now that a contract dispute has ended her time in TNA, it is expected that she will return to where she started...The WWE.

Gail Kim made her televised WWE debut in 2002. She entered a seven-woman Battle Royal. The rookie, who was inspired by fellow Canadian Trish Stratus, shocked the fans when she captured the WWE Women's Title in her first match with the company!

She stayed with the WWE until she was released in late 2004.

After some time in the indy circuits and in Japan, she re-emerged on the main stage in late 2005, this time with the rival company TNA. She entered the company when the women's division was non-existent.

Nearly two years after she joined TNA, the company finally introduced a title for the Women's Division—the TNA Knockout Championship. In October of 2007, the first ever TNA Knockout Champion was crowned, and it was none other than Gail Kim!

From there, she elevated the status of the Knockout Division. Some say that she elevated it above WWE's Diva division. She competed in Cage matches, Street Fights, Ladder Matches, and so much more.

Now that she leaves TNA, what's in store for her in the WWE?

There's no doubt in my mind that she is the top contender for one of the two women's titles in the WWE. But what brand would she be better utilized in?

My vote goes to Smackdown! Unlike RAW, who has a lot of talent such as Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, Candice Michelle, Katie Lea, and more, Smackdown needs more depth in their women's division.

Smackdown is also lacking "face" divas. Kim was the top "face" in TNA, so she would fit in perfectly on Smackdown. And the eventual matchup against Natalya makes it even a better! Both are great in the ring, and no doubt the can pull off a memorable feud. The eventual rekindling of a feud against Victoria is also in the cards.

No doubt in my mind that her return to the WWE will help the women's division. Whichever brand she goes to, the title is not far from her reach. Can she re-elevate the division where it was in the 1990s-early 2000s with Trish Stratus, Lita, Jazz, Molly Holly, Victoria, and more?

So we wait and see for Gail Kim's comeback to the WWE. Let's all hope they utilize her so she can show her talent that we've seen in TNA.

WWE RAW GM Mike Adamle Announces "Championship Scramble" For Unforgiven

A blockbuster matchup has just been announced for the WWE's next Pay-Per-View, Unforgiven.

Just minutes ago, RAW General Manager Mike Adamle made the special announcement. It will be a brand new WWE concept called a "Championship Scramble".

The match will have five participants. Five men will walk into the ring at Unforgiven to compete in a 20-minute match. All five men can score a pin fall or submission victory within the 20-minute time limit.

The five participants include the World Champion CM Punk, JBL, Kane, John Cena, and Batista. The person who scores a victory in that 20 minutes becomes the new World Champion. But the match will continue until the time runs out.

Whoever is holding the World Title after 20 minutes will walk out of Unforgiven the World Champion.

No doubt this is an original idea, but I'm not sure if I like this number padding. In this match, all five men can become World Champion at some time in this match, adding to their career numbers. We could even see someone win it multiple times within the time limit.

It does make for an interesting concept. And it is almost impossible to predict who will walk out of Unforgiven the WWE World Champion.

Let's just hope we don't see too much "number padding".

Randy Orton Injured In Motorcycle Accident, Out For Three More Months

For those awaiting the return of "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton, I come to you with this bad news.

WWE.com is reporting that Orton was involved in a motorcycle accident, which re-injured his collarbone.

Orton will now be sidelined for another three months.

The original injury happened this past June at "One Night Stand" in a match against Triple H. Orton was thrown out of the ring, and landed straight on his collarbone.

He was expected to return any time now, but with this news, we still await the return of Randy Orton to the WWE.

WWE BREAKING NEWS: Kennedy's Curse Continues, Suffers Yet Another Injury

In the WWE, I doubt that there's another in the company with worse luck than Mr. Kennedy.

When he captured Money In The Bank at Wrestlemania a couple years ago, he had to relinquish it to Edge, due to an injury that put him out for months until he was drafted to RAW.

Upon his return, there were big plans for the Loud Mouth from Green Bay. It was expected that Kennedy himself would of been revealed as Vince McMahon's illegitimate child. But, yet again, plans were changed because Kennedy was suspended in violation of the WWE Wellness Program.

After serving his suspension, he returned to RAW, but just managed to putter around. Fans were screaming to push this talent. Our prayers might have been answered when Kennedy was drafted back to his home...Smackdown!

Last week, we saw an incredible match-up between Mr. Kennedy and the U.S Champion Shelton Benjamin. Kennedy scored the non-title pinfall, which no doubt made him the No. 1 Contender for Benjamin's title.

Cue the curse!

During a SD/ECW house show last Monday, Kennedy suffered a dislocated shoulder in a match against Benjamin. It is expected that he will be out of action at least a few weeks, depending an MRI.

This would mean their program will be put on hold, which means another missed opportunity from this very talented superstar.

WWE Monday Night Raw Preview: The Reign Of Adamle Begins!

Last week's Monday Night RAW ended with people thinking " What the f#$@". The full house crowd in attendance were shocked and silenced, and the millions watching at home were stunned.

When Shane McMahon came out to announce the name of RAW's new General Manager, who would of thought the name coming out of his mouth would be... Mike Adamle!

As RAW rolls into Knoxville, Tenn., the Mike Adamle reign will begin!

What kind of mood will the locker room and staff be tomorrow with a new man in charge? How will Adamle take on his new role as G.M?

GM Adamle already made his first big splash last week announcing for the first time ever, John Cena will face Batista one on one, at Summerslam! This will no doubt be a clash of two of the biggest stars in the WWE today. Both multiple time WWE/World champions, and both hungry for much gold.

Despite their match at Summerslam, their will have to keep their emotions in check when both of them face the World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase in tomorrow's main event. Can Cena and Batista trust each other enough to compete against the Tag Team Champions? Or will things blow over?

The new G.M also has to figure out who will be facing World Champion CM Punk at Summerslam. Over the last few weeks, JBL has been making a name for himself, and thinks he deserves a shot at Punk. But there's no doubt a certain monster thinks otherwise.

Kane is also one of the men gunning for CM Punk. Just last week, we saw Chris Jericho saying that he wants a shot at the World Champion. How will Adamle decide?

Speaking of Chris Jericho, on RAW, we will finally see the man Jericho presumably ended his pro-wrestling career. Shawn Michaels will make his first appearance since his match against Jericho at The Great American Bash.

Is the career of HBK really over? What kind of condition Michaels will be in? You better believe Chris Jericho will keeping an eye on things (no pun intended).

Finally, what's going to happen next with RAW's latest hot couple. Even though they hate to admit it, there's no doubt something between Beth Phoenix and Santino Marella. Will things evolve tomorrow?

WWE Monday Night RAW Preview: Here Comes The Moneeeeey (To Set Order)!

For the past few weeks, Monday Night RAW has been completely chaotic. With anarchy running wild since none one has been in charge, tonight the son of the Chairman will address the RAW locker room and the fans.

As Shane McMahon makes his way to RAW tonight, what is he thinking? After he and his sister Stephanie McMahon pleaded for unity and civility, those demands were ignored.

As Shane McMahon steps in that ring tonight, how will his demeanour be? Will he update us on Vince McMahon’s condition? And will he settle order to RAW by appointing a General Manager to run the ship?

Whoever the GM will be, the first priority will be sorting out the World Heavyweight Title picture.

With newly crowned champion CM Punk still barely holding on to his title, everyone is gunning for him! Batista still hasn’t had had fair match against Punk—no doubt that makes him the front-runner in The Animal’s mind.

What about the recently psychotic Kane? His behaviour has become more and more radical. No doubt the Big Red Machine wants gold back around his waist. And who is he talking about when he says “Is he alive...or is he dead?”

But there’s more! John Cena and JBL have been in a feud fuelling back since their Wrestlemania battle a few years ago. Both former WWE Champions believe they deserve a shot at the World Title.

How will the new G.M decide between all these worthy opponents? Find out tonight on RAW!

Also on RAW tonight, what will Chris Jericho and Lance Cade have to say or do? Jericho says he has ended the career of the Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels at The Great American Bash. This isn’t about saving us anymore, it’s about saving himself! What kind of condition is Michaels in tonight, and will he even be able to show up?

Finally, last week we saw the return of D’Lo Brown! The former “Attitude Era” superstar returned with a victory against Santino Marella. But it’s what happened after the match that is getting people talking. After a brief tussle between Marella and Beth Phoenix, they stared into each other’s eyes...and kissed! Are The Glamazon and Santino...an item?

Writers note: Their new couple name should be “Calzon” (check your Italian Food dictionary people)

WWE Monday Night RAW Preview: Pre-Bash CHAOS!

With only six days away from the Great American Bash, WWE Monday Night RAW heads to Raleigh, North Carolina. It has been volatile these past few weeks, and with The Bash coming, things are sure to get much more chaotic.

In the main event of last week, we saw a No. 1 contender named for CM Punk’s World Title. After defeating John Cena, JBL, and Kane, Batista earns his shot at The Great American Bash.

Now with six days until their matchup, what side of The Animal will we see on RAW? We all know his hunger for the World Title, and some would say that Batista is a HUGE reason CM Punk is champ. Can these two fan favourites keep their cool until The Bash? And can CM Punk prove he’s a worthy champion?

For months now, the feud between Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho has been the talk of the WWE. Last week, HBK accepted Jericho’s challenge at the Great American Bash, despite his injured eye. Will things escalate tonight, with just less than a week before the match?

Another feud that has been heating up these past months will be settled at The Great American Bash. John Cena will face JBL in a New York City Parking Lot Brawl. Some could argue the advantage clearly goes to “The Wrestling God”, being billed from New York City. But we all know John Cena will never stop.

Just days away from their match, what will JBL and Cena have to say, or do, to each other?

Finally, last week’s RAW ended in what some call say “the return of the Monster Kane”. After losing in the main event, Kane completely lost it. He went after the camera and ring crew, then put his aggression on Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler. During these attacks, Kane repeated this eerie phrase: “Is he dead or alive?”

Who is Kane talking about? Will we learn more about Kane’s bizarre mind-set tonight?

WWE Breaking News: Ashley Massaro Released

Another day, another released from the WWE.

Today, WWE Diva Ashley Massaro was officially released from the company.

But it seems that she left on her terms. Last week, she posted on her “myspace” page that she will be asking for an early release from her WWE contract because she needs to attend to her seven year-old daughter, who is “not well”.

Massaro entered the WWE in 2005 thanks to the WWE Raw Diva Search. She beat out seven other finalists to win the competition, which gave her $250,000 and a WWE contract.

Since then, she hasn’t looked back. She was known as the WWE’s Punk-Diva.

Massaro’s time in the WWE will probably not be remembered for what she did in the ring, but what she did outside the ring.

Following the footsteps of several other WWE Divas, in April of 2007, she was chosen to be on the cover of Playboy Magazine. She also was a contestant on CBS’s hit reality-show Survivor. She even appeared on The CW’s hit show Smallville, and appeared in Timbaland’s music video “Throw It On Me”

In May of 2008, Massaro's name was involved in some controversy. Rolling Stone Magazine reported that Massaro was employed by a Los Angeles escort agency. The agency is currently being investigated by the F.B.I, which makes some sceptics think that this is the REAL reason Ashley is leaving the WWE.

Personally, I have a hard time to believe she should lie about having a sick daughter.

Although she wasn’t the best in the ring, and the WWE can do without her, I think it’s admirable that she is leaving the company to tend her daughter. It shows she has her priorities straight. I would like to wish her, and her daughter, good luck.

WWE: Kane Asks "Is He Alive Or Dead?"

What a Monday Night RAW we have just witnessed!

In the main ever, we saw Batista, JBL, Kane, and John Cena fight to become number one contender from CM Punk's World. The winner would face the Champion in two weeks at the Great American Bash.

After a hard-fought match, The Animal Batista won his shot to regain the World Heavyweight Champion.

But it was after the match when things went chaotic. After losing the ECW Title at Night of Champions, Kane has seemed to be in a foul mood. He pushed things one step further after his match tonight by going completly crazy!

First he paced around the ring, then started yelling at Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler "Is he alive or dead!". Kane repeated that bone-chilling phrase over and over.

Obviously, Cole and Lawler did not know what Kane was talking about, and they paid for it. The Big Red Machine left them both motionless in the ring, leaving the live crowd and the fans at home wondering...who is he talking about?

Is he talking about the injured Chairman of the WWE Vince McMahon? Or does this go further. Maybe it's personal...maybe it's BLOOD?

Could Kane be talking about his banished brother? Could he be asking about The Undertaker?

Only time will tell. But one thing is for sure, it is only a matter of time before we see The Deadman once again.

Todd Bertuzzi Adds Fuel to the Calgary Flames

The Northwest Division just got a lot more interesting!

Today, the Calgary Flames signed forward Todd Bertuzzi to a one-year deal worth $1.95 million. This adds some much needed size and power to the Flames.

This also marks the return of Bertuzzi to the Northwest Division. In 2006, he was traded to the Florida Panthers in a deal that sent Roberto Luongo to the Vancouver Canucks. That deal is regarded as one of the most lopsided transactions in recent memory.

Since leaving Vancouver, he played for the Detroit Red Wings and the Anaheim Ducks. In 68 games with the Ducks, he recorded 14 goals, 26 assists, and 97 penalty minutes.

Could this be a new beginning for the struggling Bertuzzi?

He has not been the same since the Steve Moore incident—one of the worst acts ever committed on the ice.

We all remember it. In 2004 at GM Place in Vancouver, B.C., in a divisional game against the Colorado Avalanche, Todd Bertuzzi sucker-punched Avalanche forward Steve Moore from behind.

That sucker-punch got Bertuzzi suspended indefinitely, but Steve Moore has not been able to come back to the game he loves since then. Now they are in a bitter legal dispute that also involves former Canuck coach Marc Crawford and the Vancouver organization.

Now with Bertuzzi back in the Northwest Division, we will witness some interesting match-ups. Bertuzzi will play against his former team, the Vancouver Canucks, in divisional games. But most interesting, he will be facing the team he was playing when his career went downhill—the Colorado Avalanche.

Calgary vs. Colorado already has an intense rivalry, but Todd Bertuzzi intensifies this a few notches. He will be playing in Denver for several games, where he is public enemy No. 1.

WWE Monday Night RAW Preview: Who's Next to Be Punk'd?

If we’ve learned anything these past weeks in the WWE, we can now expect the unexpected. After last week’s shocking Monday Night RAW, the TV trucks enter “The Big Easy,” New Orleans, LA. What can we expect tomorrow on RAW?

Last week we witnessed what has to be one of the most shocking events in Monday Night RAW history: the crowning of a NEW World Heavyweight Champion!

After being brutally attacked by Batista, Edge was defenseless when Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk cashed in his briefcase. The Rated R Superstar got a taste of his own medicine, and CM Punk became our newest World Champ.

But the night wasn’t over for the newly crowned Champion. First JBL challenged Punk to a match for the Title. And later that night, John Cena proclaimed that he too wanted a shot at the World Title.

“The Wrestling God” took it upon himself to hire security to escort Cena out of the building, saying, “Nothing will interrupt me from Winner The World Championship.”

During the Main Event, it was CM Punk vs. JBL. However, John Cena made an appearance, with back-up of his own...Cryme Tyme! JBL was distracted by the brawl outside the ring between JBL’s security and Cena’s “posse.” That distraction gave the Champion time to hit the Go To Sleep, and retain the Championship!

With Punk still flying high from his HUGE Title victory, what will happen on RAW? Who will be the next to challenge his newly won Title? JBL? John Cena?

Maybe the angry “Big Red Machine” Kane! Or how about the man who gave Punk the assist to his title win... Batista! New Champion, new challengers! Who will be next?

CM Punk isn’t the only newly crowned Champion on RAW. Kofi Kingston captured the Intercontinental Title at Night of Champions against Chris Jericho, thanks to the help of Shawn Michaels.

However last week during their rematch, Chris Jericho took out his frustrations and anger on the Jamaican Champion. How will Kingston respond to his attack from last week?

And what about Shawn Michaels? Chris Jericho challenged him to a match at The Great American Bash. Will The Showstopper accept the challenge, and what kind of condition is he in?

After their “Simply Priceless” Title win at Night of Champions, Tag Team Champions Ted DiBiase, Jr. and Cody Rhodes have been on fire. Who will be able to stop this team?

Finally, last week Shane McMahon gave a brief statement on Vince McMahon’s condition after his stage accident a few weeks ago.

Will we learn more about his condition this week on RAW? Will we learn a bit more about who was responsible for this “accident,” perhaps? Was it really an accident, or was it an attack? The Chairman has a laundry list of people who would want him out. Who was responsible for the potential career-ending injury?

All this and a whole lot more! Will we see another confrontation between Rey Mysterio and Santino Marella? We will definitely see some Diva action! Make sure to tune in when Monday Night RAW airs LIVE from New Orleans.

The Wright Take: WWE Focusing On Change?

Presidential Candidate Senator Barack Obama isn’t the only one thinking “Change”. In the span of two weeks, the WWE seems to have heard the cries of fans around the world, "WWE, it’s time for Change!" And did they ever deliver.

It all started at the WWE Draft on June 24^th. Most fans excepted a small shake-up, but nothing compared to what was delivered. All three brands, RAW, ECW, and Smackdown saw their rosters shuffled. Rey Mysterio, Batista, CM Punk, and Kofi Kingston all went to RAW.

Smackdown gained Jeff Hardy, Mr Kennedy, and Umaga. Even the broadcast team was switched, sending Michael Cole to RAW and sending Jim Ross to Smackdown.

But the most shocking, the most unexpected move at the Draft was when Smackdown acquired someone who was considered “unmovable” by fans. The WWE Champion himself, TRIPLE H was heading to Friday nights.

At that moment, fans knew change was in the air!

Six nights later at the Pay-Per-View Night of Champions, we saw the continuation of this theme. Three Titles changed hands. But what made those Title changes so significant were the winners.

Mark Henry won his first world title, the ECW Title. Kofi Kingston, Ted DiBiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes were now reigning champions on RAW.

Finally the WWE focused on the younger and new talent. You can feel the shift going on.

But then, the next night, Monday Night RAW came around. After Night of Champions, RAW no longer had a World Champion... but not for long.

In what I would consider one of the most shocking moments in RAW History, out of nowhere, CM Punk cashes in his Money in The Bank briefcase, ensuring him a World Title shot. Thanks to the help of Batista, who worked over World Champion Edge, out came CM Punk, and just like that.... CM PUNK NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONS!

FINALLY, someone new and fresh in the main event picture! After years of Triple H, Edge, Batista, Randy Orton, The Undertaker, and John Cena holding on to gold, FINALLY we get to see...CHANGE!

RAW and ECW now have new World Champions, and on Smackdown we now have a brand new main event feud. How long have we been waiting for Triple H vs. Edge? That match could be of Wrestlemania main event calibre!

It is clear that the WWE is now focused to win back the fans. And for the first time since the “Attitude Era”, I’m feeling like ANYTHING can happen.

Can the WWE deliver change? Yes they can!

Alright folks, since the Toronto Maple Leafs signed free agent defenseman Jeff Finger, everyone including myself has came up with all sorts of funny and amazing puns.

Immature? Maybe! But Funny? YES!

However, we can’t help ourselves. It’s like an age joke with John McCain, or a dumb blond joke with Paris Hilton. It just has to come out!

Breaking News: WWE Releases Trevor Murdoch

The WWE has officially released former Tag Team Champion Trevor Murdoch (real name Trevor Rhodes).

Murdoch debuted in the WWE in 2005, along side a returning Lance Cade. Together, they formed a Tag Team that captured the WWE World Tag Team Titles 3 times.

But after 3 years as a Tag Team, they split up after Lance Cade turned on his country loving friend.

Murdoch was drafted to the Smackdown last week, but did not get to make his debut.

Andrew Raycroft and Darcy Tucker: Colorado Avalanche Make a Huge Splash

The Colorado Avalanche didn't waste any time today during the first day of Free Agency.

First, the Avalanche signed UFA goaltender Andrew Raycroft to a one year deal worth $800,000. The Avs were looking for someone in net after the departure of Jose Theodore, who signed with the Washington Capitals today.

Also coming to Denver, Darcy Tucker signed a two year deal worth $4.5 Million. Tucker is definitely an upgrade of Andrew Brunette, who signed with the Minnesota Wild today.

Bleacher Report, today is July 1st. For Canadians all over the country, we are celebrating our anniversary. I would like to wish fellow Canadians HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Oh Canada!

What defines Canada? Is it the unpredictable weather? Is it our free health care? Is it what seems to be our over-friendly persona? Or is it maybe the use of the word “eh”? Maybe it’s the love for our Tim Horton's coffee and doughnuts!

Jose Theodore's Departure a Good Thing for the Colorado Avalanche?

With free agency just days away, and the news that Jose Theodore will not be coming back to the team, the Colorado Avalanche now have a HUGE decision to make (like they didn’t have enough on their plate).

Their No.1 goaltender is now leaving, but shouldn’t Avs fans be relieved by this news?

Jose Theodore, who cost the Colorado Avalanche $6 million a season, has not lived up to his price. He was traded from Montreal in 2006 to Colorado for David Aebischer. Since the trade, Theodore has struggled to regain his “Hart Trophy” form. He was constantly fighting for his #1 position with back-up Peter Budaj.

It wasn’t until mid-way through last season we saw Jose Theodore improve. When the Avs came down with the injury bug, Theodore kept the team into a playoff position. After a stellar first round against the Minnesota Wild, the bad luck seemed to come back. You can blame it on injury, or the flu, or the Red Wings being too much for the Avalanche, but Jose Theodore and the Avs crumbled.

Talks with GM Francois Giguere and Jose Theodore’s agent broke down late last week, and here we are.

So now what? What are the options for the Avalanche?

They can rely on Peter Budaj. He has been there for years and has posted some good numbers. But inconsistency is a fear. Chances are Giguere will go shopping for a No.1, or back-up to Budaj.

I think they should go after someone cheap. Why not bring back the man they traded away for Theodore, David Aebischer. There’s no doubt he would love to come back after dreadful seasons in Montreal, Phoenix and even the minors. He also comes at a cheap price of $600,000.

Since the Avs love their nostalgic moments, Marc Denis is also available. He would also be a good cheap option.

With the acquisition of “Abby” or Denis, the Avalanche would have lots of cap space to go after more big names in free agency. I hear something about a guy named Sundin being available...

WWE SmackDown Preview: Hellos, Goodbyes and Last Chances!

With the Draft past, and Night of Champions just three nights away, tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown! could be described with one word....EMOTION!

It will be an emotional night as some new superstars say hello, like WWE Champion Triple H, Umaga, Jeff Hardy and Mr. Kennedy; as some Superstars say Goodbye, like Rey Mysterio and Batista!

The Animal leaves SD!, but not before he gets one last chance at Edge, and the World Heavyweight championship at Night of Champions.

What will happen tonight will all the comings and goings? Will Batista get a piece of “La Familia” before he leaves SD! for good? And with him opening up the show tonight, will the WWE Champion Triple H cross paths with the World Heavyweight Champion Edge?

At Night of Champions, former SD! superstars (now ECW Extremist) Finlay and Hornswoggle try to steal the WWE Tag Team Titles from John Morrison and The Miz. With their match three nights away, who will get the important momentum?

The Draft saw SD!’s U.S Champion go to ECW. In just three nights from today, Matt Hardy will be facing Chavo Guerrero. What will The Champion do on his last night on Smackdown, and what will Vickie Guerrero have in store?

Finally, a new Divas Champion will be crowned at Night of Champions. We already know that Natalya will be one of the Divas competing for it, but who will she be facing? Who will make a mark on SmackDown! tonight to earn her shot?

Joe Sakic's Options: Staying In Colorado or Retiring; Theodore Gone!

One of the classiest players that has laced up skates has a huge decision to make, and he’s going to take his time doing it.

Colorado Avalanche’s captain Joe Sakic, 38, has played his entire career with the same franchise (Quebec/Colorado), but now he’s trying to make the right decision. Will he come back to play next year, or will he call it a career and retire?

Sakic, who becomes an unrestricted free-agent on July 1, has been given time to reflect by the Avalanche organization. He has said himself that a decision will not be made by July 1.

But worry not Avalanche fans, it’s Denver or nothing! As his agent Don Baizley told TFP, “The only option he is considering is the Avalanche.” Signing with another team is not an option for Captain Joe.

General Manager Francois Giguere now has no choice but to wait for his captain’s decision. But he has more work to do. He is currently in negotiations with goaltender Jose Theodore, who came back last season from disappointing campaigns.

Also becoming unrestricted free-agents on July 1 are Peter Forsberg, Adam Foote, Andrew Brunette, John-Michael Liles, and more!

No doubt a busy summer for the Avalanche! But at least they are sure that they will not lose their captain to free agency.

Personally, I think Joe Sakic has more in him. I except to see him back on the ice with the Avalanche next season and giving it his all.

Can’t wait!

Adam Wright here! I’ve been here at The Report for more than a month now, and I have to say I’ve been having a blast. My favourite work here is when I show humour in my articles. Tonight, I’m asking for your input.

This is sort of an open challenge! And, here’s how it will work.

I will let you good folks pick a song. Any song, as long as it's very well known, and I will re-write it, and use it in one of my future articles.

But, there’s a twist.

The new lyrics, that I will be writing, will be "sung" by a NHL Personality of my choice! Ah yes, for example, can you imagine Cliff Fletcher performing a new version of Shania Twain’s “Man, I Feel like a Woman!”? It could happen!

NHL:The Adventures of Ron & Don: The Search for a New Hockey Theme Song - Part 1

After the loss of their Hockey Night in Canada Theme Song, CBC executives were desperate to find a new theme song. The network decided to launch an online contest letting fans submit their new theme songs, but aware that this plan could go wrong, CBC had a “Plan B.”

Their plan was to send their two brightest minds to look for their new theme song. And who are these two bright minds? None other than Ron MacLean and Don Cherry!

Nation, the fate of Hockey Night in Canada is in their hands! I welcome to you to “The Adventures of Ron & Don: The Search for a New Theme Song.”

Part 1, Day 1

The search began in Toronto, on a Monday. The town was still buzzing from an Award Ceremony the town hosted the night before. All the biggest stars were in town. From music, to television, to movies, Toronto was Hollywood for that night.

Early Monday morning, Ron and Don were up early. Knowing that the town would still be full of stars, they spread the word the night before that they would be holding auditions later that day at the Air Canada Center.

Any celebrity was welcome to appear to audition. Surely with all that talent, it would be easy to find a suitable choice for a new theme song.

Monday afternoon. Ron MacLean and Don Cherry are all set up at a table. There’s a small stage set up in front of them, where the auditions will take place.

Ron: Are you sure about this?

Don: Look, CBC sent us to find a song. And I’m willing to bet anything that today we will find that new song.

Ron is quiet.

Don: Am I ever wrong?

Ron smirks.

Don: Hey, Have you ever won Coach of The Year? Thought so!

Ron: Alright Simon, let’s begin.

Don: What did you call me?

Just then, the first performer walks on stage.

Don: Name?

Performer: Timbaland.

Don: Timba who?

Ron: It’s Timbaland, Don. Singer, producer—he’s worked with some of the biggest stars in the business today.

Timbaland: That’s right, Ron.

Don: Honest to God, I’ve never heard of him!

Ron: Anyway, Timbaland, what makes you think you're right for this gig?

Don: Gig?

Timbaland: Well, it’s like this. I’ve always been a hockey fan. And I know I can make this product better. Make it BIG. That’s what I do. Just my name has boosted careers.

Ron: Alright, let’s hear it.

Timbaland:

Promiscuous girl
Wherever you are
I’m all alone
And it's you that I want

Don: Whoa whoa! I know that song. Good ol' Canadian girl Nelly Furtado sings that!

Timbaland: Ummm, so do I.

Don: Where is SHE?

Timbaland: She’s not here with me today.

Don: I see... Thank you, but you’re not right for us!

Ron: But...

Don: See ya!

Timbaland laughs.

Timbaland: Alright, see y'all later. And remember...It’s too late to apologize.

Timbaland leaves the stage.

Don: That sounded familiar too. Ah well, NEXT!

The next performer walks on stage.

Don: WOWZERS!!!

Performer: Hey, I’m Rihanna.

Don can’t speak.

Ron: Well Rihanna, congrats! This is the first time I’ve seen Don here shut up! Haha. That’s one point for you. What makes you think you're right for this?

Rihanna: I think I have a lot to bring to the program.

Don nods.

Ron: Alright then, whenever you’re ready.

Just then, Rihanna opens an umbrella. Ron and Don both jump back

Rihanna:

Don gives his signature thumbs-up.

Ron: Alright, you obviously can bring a lot to Hockey Night in Canada. So, whenever you’re ready.

Don: What he say to me?

Ron: He said today was a waste of time!

Don: Now now, this was only Day 1.

WWE Monday Night RAW Preview: The Mind Games Continue

Salt Lake City is the home of WWE Monday Night RAW tonight. What could be the last time we see some superstars on RAW, this week’s RAW promises to be an explosive one.

The mind games between Triple H and John Cena were in full force last week on RAW. John Cena defeated JBL before engaging in a postmatch staredown with Triple H. The Game showed Cena he is the Cerebral Assassin by sweeping Cena’s feet from under him. Obviously, an embarrassed Cena got the message.

Later that night, The WWE Champion faced Jeff Hardy. The match ended when John Cena swept Triple H’s feet from under him, causing him to be counted out. As both competitors stared each other down once again, they were interrupted by a flying Jeff Hardy, a swift reminder that The Rainbow-Haired Warrior is also keeping an eye on the WWE Title.

Tonight, with two weeks away from their match-up, who will get the cerebral advantage? We’ve heard it numerous times; The Champion Triple H and the challenger John Cena are the two top superstars in the WWE.

Who will walk out the champion after Night of Champions? Will John Cena be able to walk out of Salt Lake City tonight, after he faces The Samoan Bulldozer Umaga in a Street Fight? No doubt the Champion will be keeping an eye on that match.

Last week on RAW, we witnessed the most memorable Highlight Reel ever! After weeks of Chris Jericho acting oddly, he showed his true colors last week when he threw Shawn Michaels through the JerichoTron 6000.

The Showstopper’s face went through the monitor glass, which is quite ironic since Shawn Michaels was the one throwing his former partner Marty Jannetty through a barbershop’s glass years ago.

Chris Jericho obvious thought it was poetic justice, but how will The Heart-Break Kid react? Jericho says he wants to be a fighting champion, so will we see these two face-off for the Intercontinental Championship at Night of Champions?

For two weeks in a row, the Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes have lost their matches. No doubt their looming match against the “Simply Priceless” Ted DiBiase and a mystery partner at Night of Champions is on their minds. Can the Champions get it together before their big night? And will we find out who DiBiase will pick as his partner?

Finally, Vince McMahon did what he said he would do, and gave away $1,000,000 of his own money last week on RAW. Tonight, he will do it all over again. Which lucky Americans will get that call from Vince McMahon? Tune in to find out.

The WWE Draft is seven days away! This might be the last time we see some of our favorite RAW Superstars. Who will stay, who will go? Find out next week!

WWE Monday Night Raw Preview: Challenger Found To Play The Game!

WWE Monday Night RAW rolls into Oakland, California, just a few weeks before the next Pay-Per-View Night of Champions.

At Night of Champions, every WWE Title will be on the line.

Last week on RAW, we found out who will challenge for Triple H’s WWE Title. After defeating Jeff Hardy, in his first match ever against him, John Cena earned his way back to the WWE Title picture.

As the show went off the air last week, we saw the stare down between The Challenger and The Champion. Triple H will face John Cena at Night of Champion in a match that’s nearly impossible to predict the outcome.

What will The Game have to say to see a new #1 contender? And will the relationship between Cena and Mickie James move a step further (Thanks to JBL’s “magic potion”)?

For the past month, we’ve seen the Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho acting pretty odd.

Last week he dedicated his Title defence against JBL to Shawn Michaels ,who was recovering at home. Later that night, Jericho had a chance to hit JBL with a chair....but he didn’t. As we saw him do with Michaels a few weeks back, he could not deliver that deadly chair shot.

Tonight on RAW, Chris Jericho invites Shawn Michaels to his Highlight Reel! What will the Intercontinental Champion have to say about his odd behaviour as of late? Will Shawn Michaels show up on the Reel? And what condition is The Heartbreak Kid after the beating he suffered by Batista at One Night Stand?

Since causing William Regal to get fired, Mr. Kennedy has been the main target of Paul Birchill (and his lovely sister Katie Lee). In two separate occasions last week, we saw the two go at it in an all out brawl. Will the Loud-Mouth from Green Bay address the Brit tonight? Will their feud escalate?

Finally, the team of Katie Lee and Beth Phoenix defeated Melina and The WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James in tag team action. What’s next for The current Champion? Will The Glamazon get another shot for the Title?

All this and a whole lot more tonight on RAW! Which American citizen will win the first prize from “McMahon’s Million Dollar Mania”? How will the Tag Team Champions bounce back from their non-title loss last week? And has Ted DiBiase Jr found a tag team partner that’s....PRICELESS?

Maple Leafs: Stephen Colbert Press Conference

The following press conference was held in front of the Air Canada Center yesterday. Advancing to the podium was television personality Stephen Colbert. No one knew what this press conference was going to be about, but Colbert jumped right in by addressing the media and fans.

As you all may already know, my name is Stephen Colbert, award winning television host, bestselling author, one of the most influential people in America and the envy of all news anchors. But, I’m humble as you can see.

I know what you are all asking: “Why is Colbert here in Toronto?” I’m going to tell you! When I’m not spreading the good word on my show, rubbing my butt on Jon Stewart’s keyboard, or screaming at Democrats who are on my lawn (or rubbing my butt on Democrats who are on my lawn), I enjoy watching a good game of hockey. That’s right Tiger Woods, Colbert watches hockey! EAT IT!

As I watched the excitement of the Stanley Cup finals and saw the Detroit Red Wings win that Cup, I couldn’t help to think to myself... I want that Cup!

How do I get my hands on that Stanley Cup? I could steal it, like Bush “allegedly” stole the 2000 elections, but that’s not my style... I leave that to the professionals! The only way to win is to be a part of a winning team.

So yesterday, I took my skates out of my closet and went to my local rink. After 3 hours, I decided that I cannot win the Stanley Cup on my behind! If I can’t be a part of a team on the ice... what about off the ice?

Now today, here I am in Toronto! I hear that this is “The Hockey Center of The Universe,” and this place is looking for someone to lead the way. Today, I am officially announcing... that I, Stephen Colbert, will be the NEW General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs!

The crowd reacts to this news. There’s a lot of cheering by fans.

Thank You! Yes, this is perfect! Stephen Colbert in the hockey center of the world! I’m not going to say this makes me God... but it’s pretty damn close! I promise you I’m the right man for the job. Successful? CHECK! Rich? CHECK! Popular? CHECK! A winner? CHECK CHECK! Failure is not an option under my regime.

As GM I will be tough on my players. You want a no trade clause? Then win, and you won’t be traded. See...simple! And I’m not afraid to fight management. You all see what I did to Conan O’Brien? It wasn’t pretty.

Now most importantly, how will I deal with the media? Again, it’s simple, I’ll be brutally honest. That’s how I roll, if you can’t take it, toughen up! I’ll throw some random opinions right here.

Don Cherry, everyone loves a nice suit, but you look like you were dressed by Elton John and Prince! See, brutally honest and straight to the point. Another, Boston Bruins... how dare you have a BEAR as your logo? One day that bear will pop up and eat your face off.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you now. Gary Bettman, sir, wear some platforms! You’re the commissioner for God’s sake, a leader should stand tall or he won’t succeed. Just ask Dennis Kucinich. You see people, I hold nothing back.

Leaf Nation, this organization deserves better. At least that’s what I hear by the media...and they're never wrong! Toronto... get ready for the Colbert Bump!

WWE Smackdown Preview: R.I.P. Undertaker, Life After the Deadman

Nov. 22, 1990, a mysterious superstar made his stunning debut at the Survivor Series.

He came in the ring and towered over his competitors. With his frightening stature and in his eyes, you could tell he wanted to hurt you. After hitting the Tombstone Piledriver, WWE (formerly WWF) fans witnessed the beginning of a legacy.

For more than 17 years, Undertaker has been one of the most dominating superstars in WWE history. Winner of six World Titles and an unprecedented 16–0 record at Wrestlemania, the reign of the Deadman seemed unstoppable.

But on June 1, 2008, it seems that the career of Undertaker is DEAD.

After losing a TLC match at One Night Stand against Edge, he is now banished from the WWE by orders of Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero.

Tonight on Smackdown, we begin life after the Deadman. What will the New World Champ have to say after ending the career of Undertaker? Will Edge acknowledge La Familia, who gave him a much needed assist at One Night Stand?

And with The Phenom gone...who’s next to challenge the Rated R Superstar and new World Champ?

No doubt one man waiting in the wings is former World Champ Batista.

At One night Stand, he did what he said he would do...hurt Shawn Michaels. To add insult to injury, he added the chilling words, “I’m not sorry, and I don’t love you.” Will The Animal make his case for being the new No. 1 Contender?

Also tonight on Smackdown, after weeks of being trained by WWE legend Rowdy Roddy Piper, Cousin Sal will get in the ring and face Santino Marella. How will Jimmy Kimmel’s cousin fare against The Italian Stallion?

Finally, in the past few weeks we’ve seen some impressing matches featuring our WWE Divas. Tonight, it is expected that GM Vickie Guerrero has a special announcement concerning the Smackdown Divas.

What’s in store for McCool, Victoria, Natalya, Cherry, and Maryse?

WWE: One Night Stand Preview

The one night of the year when the WWE goes EXTREME is upon us. LIVE from 619, San Diego, California, WWE brings us the fourth annual “One Night Stand” Pay-Per-View. Just two weeks after the last PPV, One Night Stand may seem rushed on us, but this looks like a much better card than Judgment Day.

Remember, in true One Night Stand tradition, all the matches of the night will be “Specialty Matches.” Without further ado, here’s my One Night Stand Preview!

Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga (Falls Count Anywhere Match)

When you first look at this match, you might be thinking to yourself that this is a deja-vu. No, it’s not. Jeff Hardy and Umaga go at it once again at One Night Stand.

This match will surely be decent, however. You have two of the hardest working superstars in the WWE working together. And with this stipulation, you can guarantee they will pull out all the stops!

“Falls Count Anywhere” with Jeff Hardy will most likely end with a HUGE spot, similar to Jeff Hardy’s dive on Randy Orton. Hardy will win this very physical match, and Umaga probably will head to Smackdown after the draft.

CM Punk vs. John Morrison vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. Big Show (Singapore Cane Match)

One Night Stand won’t be complete without an ECW match-up. Ironically, this is the least “extreme” match of the night. Hmmmm.

This match features all former ECW Champions, and the winner will face current Champ Kane at the next PPV, “Night of Champions.”

You can expect Big Show to dominate until everyone has the great idea to gang up on the giant. The winner of this match will be…I don’t know…John Morrison, I guess?

It seems to me this match was horribly booked. I’m pulling for Morrison to win though.

Beth Phoenix vs. Melina (I Quit Match)

For the first time ever, an “I Quit” match is battled in a women’s match.

This should be another great match featuring two of the top divas in the ring. I have to give props to the WWE as of late for pushing actual matches featuring these beauties of the ring. There have been some pretty good matches on all three brands. Looks like Vince actually learned something from TNA…weird.

Anyways, back to this match. I expect “The Glamazon” to dominate most of this match. I can see two scenarios happening. Either Beth Phoenix gets the victory or someone from SD! helps Melina win (I’m guessing Michelle McCool).

My only critique of this match is that it leaves out the WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James. I guess she’s still recovering from a tongue-lashing by JBL (no pun intended)

John Cena vs. JBL (First Blood Match)

Bad blood has been boiling for months. Now the blood will pour when John Cena and JBL meet each other in their Judgment Day rematch.

Personally, I’m not a fan of First Blood matches. Today, we see superstars bleed all the time, so why is it so big when put in the stipulation?

Expect another physical match. I see JBL winning this one, setting up Round Three sometime soon, in a better stipulated match hopefully.

(Writer's note: Cena could win this match by showing JBL a scene from "The Marine." My eyes bled for weeks!)

Shawn Michaels vs. Batista (Stretcher Match)

Again, here we have the case of GREAT rivalry, but bad stipulation. I don’t know, but there’s nothing impressive about pushing someone over a line. If you remember Orton vs. RVD, Orton just fell on the stretcher, and RVD pushed it over the line to win. Then after the match, Orton got up quickly and kicked him in the head (I miss that Orton).

To make Stretcher Matches more interesting, they should add the rule that the opponent must be tied to the stretcher, then pushed over the line.

But this match will be way better than the last Stretcher Match we witnessed (Finley vs. Rey Mysterio). This feud has been build-up perfectly, and Shawn Michaels will put on a great match that will even make Batista look good.

It will be interesting to see how Chris Jericho gets involved in this.

Triple H (c) vs. Randy Orton (WWE Championship: Last Man Standing Match)

Hopefully, this is the last chapter of Triple H vs. Randy Orton. They face each other in the same match Randy Orton beat Triple H for the WWE Title at No Mercy.

This could be the most brutal match of the night. Expect lots of weapons involved, but somewhere near the end a friendly sledgehammer will make an appearance.

No doubt in my mind Triple H retains the title in a very bloody match.

The Undertaker vs. Edge (World Heavyweight Championship: Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match)

This should be the main event of the evening. This will mark the seventh TLC match in WWE History. This will also mark Edge’s sixth. No doubt a huge advantage goes to Edge for his experience.

But “The Deadman” is no ordinary opponent. After being stripped from the Title by GM Vickie Guerrero, The Undertaker will do anything do get it back.

Let’s not forget there’s more than the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line. If The Undertaker were to lose, by order of General Manager Vickie Guerrero: “The Undertaker will be banished from the WWE.”

This will be a great TLC match, and it’s good to see it make its return. But any fan could guess the outcome of this match. Especially after Edge’s promo on Smackdown last night! He stated that if Taker were to lose, he would be banished from the WWE, AND could no appear on any other show after the draft. Jeez WWE, thanks for spoiling the outcome! Taker wins and his career continues. As for Edge… draft to RAW maybe?

There you have it, the EXTREME line-up of the evening. I can’t wait for it. The only complaint I have about this PPV, is that for the third PPV in a row, Mr. Kennedy is left off the card!

Nonetheless, this should be an amazing PPV live from San Diego. Thanks for reading, and see you all for RAW.
