How Juan Martin del Potro and the US Open Replenished Argentina's Sports Pride

Iv'e undergone the toughest moments in my life because of sports events lately. Sport is great, but when the results of your favourite team are bad you feel helpless and want to cry about it.

This is what I felt when I witnessed the Argentina squad and coach doing nothing but disappointing us: what a shame!

I can’t stand seeing the Brazilians making jokes and having fun at Argentina's expense—it’s a part of the game, I guess, but people don’t need to be so heavy on doing this because Argentina is only a rival, not an enemy.

Anyway, this matter is closed, and Argentina still has a chance to qualify, so it’s not worth crying over spilt milk.

However, in these hard and sad moments, there was a game on the air...a sport event by excellence: The exciting US Open.

From the beginning of the tournament I put my eyes on Juan Martin del Potro's games. Honestly, every day I was so happy to see the young talent advancing slowly but effectively. Each passing day was a battle for our boy.

To my great surprise, he was growing each day more professional and confident. However, after seeing the soccer team failing and failing it, was unbelievable to watch the young player turning into a dangerous opponent for his rivals.

I watched all his matches against different great rivals, and, believe me, I thoroughly and proudly enjoyed seeing him assert his dominance over great players of worldwide renown.

His great challenge against Rafael Nadal led him to win more confidence and to fortify his will as well. After this great victory, Juan M, the so-called "la torre de Tandil,” had secured a valuable place in the US Open finals.

The task seemed almost impossible. Why? Defeating Roger Federer is simply as big a challenge as climbing a mountain. Federer is the king of tennis...del Potro is just a young talent with exceptional play.

Strength and resistance were the key words—it’s time or need to step back...

This fortunately ended well for our champion. He never lost concentration, and he never lost hope or will. On the contrary, each time he grew more and more efficient and started threatening even the great Federer.

We have always heard that in life everything is possible—that is very true in the case of Juan Martin. He won because he was blessed to think and believe that he was doing his best.

He won simply because he wasn’t intimidated by the great monster of tennis...so that’s the wonderful achievement for a 20-year-old young man who showed clearly we can win, even against the best of the best.

So thank you so much, Martin, for bringing back the great hope and joy to Argentina.

Thanks for the great bravery and solid determination and for the beautiful and fair play.

We love you so much.

Lionel Messi: What the Hell Is Wrong with You, Boy?

Podes decirme que carajo te pasa, viejo?

I am someone who cares a lot about football and especially the Argentinian team. The problem here is that it's not about me; it’s about you!

There is no time for talking, praising, and making ads. It’s just time to act and react.

I am just as tired as millions of other people in Argentina are to watch your commercials for Gillette.

I am just fed up with seeing your name in every article, in every language, everywhere.

Enough of hearing you’re the best in the world...This is not Europe, and here you’re simply not the best in your own country, even though we always wanted to see that happen here!

Enough with the comparisons between you and Maradona—you are what you are and he is what we all know he is.

Your people need you more than ever. Wake up and prove to the world that you’re really the best.

So, please, don’t you ever dare let Brazil dance its Samba here; it’s simply not allowed. Show them that, here, we dance the Tango, and no one dances it better than our own people.

Stop playing PlayStation games; we know that you always win...Don’t sweat it much; we need your concentration on the serious upcoming match.

Stop showing your magical tricks. We’ve learned them by heart. What we need is for you to put them in practice.

All the optimal conditions have been gathered together for you: You’re going to play in your town, in front of your family, your friends, even before your ex-primary school teachers. Is there anything more you could you ask for?

Please don’t disappoint us, as you’ve done on occasion in the past. Because when we watch your matches with Barcelona, you seem fantastic. You blow everybody’s mind with your play.

So what’s wrong with you? Maradona and your people love you; your rivals in Brazil and even Pele himself praised you.

I am just asking you one favour: Send us the real Messi who plays in Barcelona—not the cloned one!

We always loved you, but we’ll love you more if you make it against Brazil next Saturday.

The Nightmare of a Sports Hero!

Being a professional in sports disciplines is certainly a tough task and not easy for everyone to handle.

Perfection is every professional's target. However, in sports it requires both hard physical and mental training, as well as all kind of sacrifices.

With such serious regimens, sport stars have to keep themselves prepared and competitive by invading other sports.

To master their own games, they must embrace a variety of activities, such as fitness and bodybuilding, cycling and swimming, and, to top it all off, tranquil meditation and revitalizing massages.

As I am not a fanatic when it comes to sports, I’ve decided to speak about an unknown but successful hero. The guy believed in nothing but success and winning, until one day he fell heavily as a victim to the first harsh defeat of his sporting career.

Everyone who praised him before turned out to bomb him to death with an avalanche of criticism. The press was no exception; they poured all their venom in order to make his life bitter, and they showed him absolutely no mercy.

To evade this unhealthy and unexpected atmosphere, he drove frenetically to his beloved refuge—a little house near the shore, a place far from everything, made just for relaxing and forgetting the negative elements of life.

Once he got there, a great serenity rolled over his body and soul. In just a few moments, he slept as deeply and calmly as a baby.

The next day, he awoke in high spirits with persuasive concepts clearly in his mind: that life has rises and falls, ups and downs, wins and defeats.

So he completely enjoyed that beautiful sunny day.

That night, he met a neighbor who advised him to go to a new Turkish-style club for massages and meditation. Feeling happy, he drove to the place, even though he was warned that there were rumors that the place was haunted.

Once there, he was received like a prince by the owner and so started his relaxation in a beautiful Jacuzzi. After some minutes he heard a sound, kind of like low-splashing water. There was a cute black cat that was swimming in the other Jacuzzi behind him.

Surprised, he turned his face with a smile and said playfully, "What the hell are you doing, little creature?"

The cat, thoroughly unimpressed by the words, went on with its swimming and suddenly looked him straight in the eyes and said, "What the f*** are you doing?"

At that very moment, he almost lost consciousness, having witnessed a talking cat! Without looking back at the weird creature, he managed to run outside the Jacuzzi, fumbling and stumbling on his way to see the owner.

Hiding his feelings of shock and panic, he simply said to the owner: "The Jacuzzi sucks, it’s really disgusting...I just want to have my massage and then leave!"

The owner calmly answered: "Sure, sir...go to the room on your left and enjoy the best massage of your life!"

Our sports star went straight to the massage room; on the way, he tried hard to master his nerves and forget the crazy scene. The masseuse was a kind young man who received him warmly and enthusiastically. Without uttering a word, he started working on our hero’s body.

A few moments later, the massage was taking its energetic and relaxing effects. Our protagonist became very happy and satisfied, and thus, after an hour, he thanked him. But before leaving the room, he noticed something so strange, something he had never seen before in his whole freakin’ existence: The young man had the feet of a camel!

This blew our man’s mind and pushed him to flee as fast as he could.

Outside he met the owner, who asked him if everything was OK. The sports star looked at him with all the panic of the world, while helplessly peeing his pants, and said in a low and shaky voice, "T-t-t-he m-m-maaan...he had the feet of..."

The owner smiled and answered maliciously, "You mean like mine?"

When our man looked down and got the glimpse of the odd scene again, he fell to the ground and started crawling to the exit door, tortured by the frightening and loud laughs of the monster.

Once in the street, he threw up his thumb in an effort to hitch a ride. A young lady stopped, and our hero, still in shock, didn’t say a single word, so they ended up in the house of the girl.

Once inside, he managed to open his mouth to say, "Please, can you do me a favour? I need to sleep because I feel exhausted and my head is certainly gonna explode!"

The beautiful lady prepared the bed and helped the man to fall in it. He looked terribly sick and altered.

The next morning, he heard a soft voice whispering in his ears, saying, "Good morning, honey."

The voice was so familiar to him that he quickly opened his eyes to see who was talking to him. To his great and pleasant surprise, the voice was his wife’s—he now realized that it was all only a nightmare.

He jumped from joy and held her tight in his arms. At that emotional and lovely moment, he saw the black cat in the bedroom...so he asked his wife nervously, "What the hell is that?"

The surprised wife answered him: "It’s our cat...did you forget about it?"

He looked at her with an anxious expression, "Yeah, yeah...I am going to ask you something...if your really love me...please don’t you ever let this freaky creature come in our bedroom again, OK? Promise?"

She replied, "OK, but what..."

But he cut in, "It’s a long story that I’ll tell when I’m back from training. See ya honey!”

Brazil-Argentina: The Eternally Beautiful Rivalry

Brazil has won the football World Cup five times. This leads us to conclude that they possess outstanding talents blessed with a unique magic and a great dominance over the beautiful game.

Brazil’s league has the most competitive teams in South America. Let’s mention, for instance, great names such as Sao Paolo, Gremio, Corinthians, Vasco da Gama. These teams have been the birthplace of great current and past stars such as Kaka, Ronaldo, Robinho, and countless others.

Throughout the history of World Cups, Brazil has always shown a great determination, not only to take part in the competition but also to win it with an amazing greed.

In the course of achieving their aim, so many squads have presented great resistance, and some of them succeeded to surprisingly put Brazil aside. When this happens, in Brazil there reigns a great feeling of disappointment and bitterness.

The reason is simple: Brazilians breathe football like fresh air, and they are always proud to have great doses of it in their veins.

On the other hand, we have Argentina, the great, eternal rivals of Brazil. A country without any doubt that has given a lot to football world. Let’s just take a look at all the Europeans leagues: there are almost always one or two players from Argentina on the best clubs, from Spain to Netherlands.

However, the next event (World Cup qualifiers) has absolutely another taste. The burden weighs so heavily on Argentinian shoulders.

For this World Cup qualifier, Argentina has no other choice except to win over the powerful Brazilians. I may say, fortunately, the match will take place in a few days in Argentina.

This means the Argentinian squad has the positive ingredient of a home-team advantage to vanquish the mighty Samba team. According to the recent matches, Argentina is almost invincible as the home team. I do remember their last victory as locals against Brazil, a 3-1 triumph.

I am not good at predictions, but this time I am pretty sure that Argentina will win the match to survive in the competition. Otherwise, it would be a historical failure and a negative omen on the coach—the legendary former star, Diego Maradona.

So the questions to be asked are:

1. Is the new generation of Argentinian player able to win this decisive challenge?

2. Can Maradona prove to the world that he is as good as a coach as he was a player?

3. Can the Brazilian squad resist the great pressure of the craziest masses of Argentina's fans?

To answer these questions, we have to wait for the next challenge between the two teams next September. Speaking as a football fan, the intensity of the match would look like that of a World Cup Final, even before the South African competition has started.

By the way, in terms of clubs, Boca Juniors is the most feared Argentine club in Brazil. The reason is very simple:Whenever I meet Brazilians in Buenos Aires, most of them buy Boca’s jerseys. And when I ask them what is the reason behind this, they honestly answer: “It’s the unique club that beat, on many continental occasions, the best Brazilians squads."

Boca Juniors has a worldwide reputation, so I prefer to leave talking about this for another article.

In the search for solutions, adults sometimes turn to professional help in rearing their kids in a peaceful and healthy way. But, what I suggest in this short article is that sports can be a great means of educating children!

Sports help children develop physical skills, get some exercise, make friends, have fun, learn to play as a member of a team, learn to play fair, and improve self-esteem.

Participation in sports is a great way of staying active and offers wonderful rewards for mental health.

Being involved in sports has been proven to help children learn valuable skills for dealing with life's ups and downs. They teach the youth how to interact with others and work as a team.

This skill facilitates working with others in additional ways, too, such as on a class project or a school play.

Sports also help students become more independent and to feel better about themselves.

The results are increased self-esteem and self-confidence, which are extremely important for determining later happiness and success.

Kids have to be active every day. Physical activity stimulates growth and leads to improved physical and emotional health.

Today, research shows that the importance of physical activity in children is stronger than ever.

For example, medical researchers have observed that highly active children are less likely to suffer from high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer of the colon, obesity, and coronary heart disease later in life.

Sports also offer an enjoyable, exciting environment in which to learn how to handle both failure and success. Everyone wins and loses some of the time in sports, as well as other endeavors.

Winning feels great and empowering but can also cause a young person to feel pressure and anxiety in the next attempt to win. Losing usually produces feelings of sadness, depression, and disappointment.

Learning how to cope with these different feelings fosters good mental health.

The primary goal/duty of parents is to help children find the success in sports they need in order to make them feel valued and wanted.

Every child can be successful at one sport or another and so they should take the time to find the sports that are right for each child.

Discipline is fundamental to any sporting activity. The emphasis should be on encouraging and developing self-discipline.

In order to develop as athletes, children must be able to recognise the need for dedication in any endeavor in which they hope to succeed and further their ability.

I was born in Northern Morocco in a small town called Nador.

A few years later, my parents moved to the capital city of Rabat. There, I never missed a national/international football match, as the stadium was in front of my house.

From the balcony in the evenings, I was alerted by the dazzling lights coming from the stadium if there was a match going on or not.

I admit that I never brought uneasiness to my parents. I was obedient enough; when they said no, it meant no. I never persisted that much.

I used to spend my days between playing football or hide-and-seek, running, or kicking and fighting with my friends.

I simply confess, though, that the night began to cause me much displeasure. I used to be very frightened when the sunset broke out.

This is my story of how that fear developed.

Sometimes during the summer nights, I heard the boys planning to play a game, which it was impossible for me (being so young) to take part in, at midnight like "ghosts," as mum used to say. They did this because our parents’ rules didn’t allow it.

When the little “ghosts” were playing, I heard all the match details as if I were listening to a live radio match. It made me sad and angry.

One night, I started to think about it seriously and carefully. Bingo! A brilliant idea came across my mind that lacked nothing but putting it in practice.

Late one night, when I heard my parents snoring, I jumped from my window silently like a “ninja” to come down in the garden. Once the first stage was cleared, there was another hurdle left—a big high wall that had two or three holes.

Spider-Man time was coming. This was easy climbing for me. However, the jump to the other side of the street always left me with a feeling as if every bone in my body was shaking heavily.

I disliked what I was doing with all my heart and soul, but accepted it, as there was no other way to join the team.

Once the game was over, I tried to make the same jumps to get back to bed. Thoroughly exhausted, the Spider-Man-like strength deserted me.

Then one day that secretly and extremely happy summer, my dad proposed to drive us to the countryside. A sheer mountain of rocks with gorgeous and exotic landscapes. There were only three or four houses; one belonged to my grandparents and the rest to some neighbours.

What made that place exceptionally great was the variety of animals, both domestic and wild. In addition, the silence and the feeling of freedom were just unique.

Here we go!

We used to play Rodeo with horses and donkeys. I almost died once, while playing cowboys with my siblings. I fell from the back of the wild, freaky horse and stayed paralyzed for nearly half an hour on the ground. Thank God, no bones were broken.

Sometimes, we just left the animals in peace and start playing football matches. Only family members—even my dad used to play.

There was something disturbing, though: No one was allowed to kick the ball too hard; otherwise, it would roll down to the other village and they would keep it for the kids as a gift fallen from heaven.

To tell the truth, we enjoyed playing all kind of sports so much and I, personally, never cared much about watching TV or movies.

Until the day I heard about one of the most terrifying movies. It was called The Exorcist.

My fear of the dark was about to begin...

Back in the city, after hearing about the scary movie while we had vacationed in the country, I became determined to see it, in spite of being an 11-year-old.

I got the movie; it was late at night, my brother and sisters asked me (as I was the youngest):

"Are you sure you want to see this?"

I proudly answered: "I am a strong sportsman and I fear nothing." I played football, I ran the countryside, I rode the horses; why should I fear anything?

They said (while eyeing each other maliciously): "OK, no problem!"

He-he! I convinced them to let me join the show. But did I know what was awaiting me?

The Exorcist almost literally scared me to death, so bad I couldn't breathe. My sisters were weeping in fear. I wished I could run out, but was too frightened to even move.

Nothing had ever done that to me before, and I'd never seen how a film could affect people like that. I was amazed, I was in awe, and I was convinced that Satan was waiting under my bed...

My dad watched it once and described it as "dead funny".

To me it was "funny my a**!"

I spent sleepless weeks because of this Hollywood piece of s*** horror story!

Even today, only to thinking about it freaks me out.

"May the Power of Christ compel you!"

I still love sports just as much as I did 20 years ago, but I hate the damned Exorcist movie that scares me equally today, even as a married man!

B/R in the Pre-history

Pre-history is as important as the current history. I have made hulky+ efforts to dig in the fossils of history in order to get some precious and hidden information about how B/R functioned centuries ago. I made a great travel backwards to ask the very old civilizations about Zander the B/R cilvilization Founder.Fortunately that’s what I found: after tremendous researches I was finally awarded to get what I need to make this slideshow appear on the surface-site. At that time, no discoveries was made.People were living a jungle-like life.Chasing animals for food ,Taking their refreshing baths in lakes and rivers.In that small and curious society, there was no place for malboro or macdonalds.Every aspect of the life was simply and beatifully natural, and the majority of the inhabitants were strong and healthy. However, there was something extremely intresting about the population of the sanfranstone, they excelled at writing about nature, their battles, their fears and even their special style of living. The Hidden Agendas of a Sportsman in Canada (Humor)

My name is Carlos. I am 34 years old, and I live in northern Argentina.

Sport is my life. I grew up playing all kind of sports, and the weather here was made just for this: great sunny days, no freezing winters, so it’s suitable for soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball...and swimming.

Yeah! Swimming is the greatest; I love the sport.

When it’s getting hot and the invasion of mosquitoes breaks out, I just enjoy my time in the swimming pool. I wish I would stay the whole summer under water, because I hate those buggers.

The humidity doesn’t help, either, and the exorbitant water bills just make it worse...

I am a little tired of this life here and I am looking for another place on earth without mosquitoes and without this damned humidity...I feel sleepy and useless when humidity attacks.

Well, it’s time for the big change in my life; I'm looking for a better place to fancy what it means to be alive.

After some tries, I‘ve been accepted to be a teacher and coach in a secondary school in north Canada. Wow! This was unexpected...

I didn’t imagine that I could get rid of mosquitoes and humidity so easily. Thank God the Almighty! He heard my prayers and gave me the chance to live in the most beautiful country on earth.

Without hesitation, I accepted the contract as a teacher and packed up all my stuff.

Wow, this is just unbelievable; let’s see what the little kids of Canada have in store! Especially in terms of sport.

My first week in Canada was amazing: I don’t have enough words to describe the wonderful winter scenes. It's a magical world where everything is whitened by snow, and it’s not as cold as I thought it'd be.

I walked around in the small village I am supposed to work in. Very few people move around outside. Gorgeous! It made me feel like a king in the realm of this natural beauty. And guess what?

I have seen for the first time this big and beautiful animal known as "the deer." What a freaking majestic beast!

The second week was even better. I went out for my first jog and after three miles I felt exhausted.

Though I heard my bones cracking, I really enjoyed my first training session.

The third week was great as well. I am completely prepared to start working at school. I was somehow excited about the idea and happy to occupy my days.

Suddenly, I received a call from school that the classes would be postponed for an unknown period because of the bad weather and the continuous fall of snow.

By the way, I haven’t seen any kids so far!

One month later, my days start to be complicated: More snow every night. It's very beautiful here but I'm just exhausted from shovelling. And I am so bored! I called school again and they told me, 'Just enjoy yourself and when the weather gets better, we will let you know.'

The next day, I went outside, and started playing with snow the: building little houses, snowmen; I even built a whole family! I talked to them from time-to-time, as I had no one to talk to.

The only person who used to greet me daily was the driver of that big machine that cleans the roads.

The second month, more freakin' white sh**, no soccer, no swimming and no jogging. The sun has disappeared for ever. My hands starts aching because of the daily shoveling.

I am tired and fed up with everything. Shoveling is no more good. I feel all my body parts frozen and cracking. I'm no more a human being; maybe I am a man made of wood. I feel like "Pinocchio."

WTF am doing in this hell hole? The landscapes look like a sh**, and the deer? Those majestic horrible animals look like sh**, too.

I need some sport and it’s impossible here. I am addicted to jogging and playing soccer. No work, no sport, no human beings around; I am going to lose my mind.

I miss you sooo much, mosquitoes! I really love you, humidity!

The right decision to make is:

Packing up all my garbage and getting the hell out of this nightmare.

Aaah, Now We See: Helpful Eye Tips For the B/R Community

This article is a serious and useful one; it has absolutely nothing to do with the frisbee-bang-theory.

Do you spend a lot of time staring at your computer screen? All of us addicted to the B/R actually do.

So if this is true in your case, you certainly know how tiring and harmful it can be to your eyes as well as to your entire body.

I just want to present some useful tips to protect our precious eyes and sight, as we are surfing on B/R, or while using the Internet and computers in general.

To start doing these exercises, make sure to relax and empty the mind, as if you were meditating.

Tip-1

Sit comfortably with your back and neck straight but not stiff. Without turning your head, focus both eyes on your right shoulder. Remain in this position as long as you can. Then close your eyes and relax. Repeat this procedure with the left shoulder.

Tip-2

Move your eyes upwards as far as you can, and then downwards. Repeat it four or five more times.

Tip-3

Slowly roll your eyes first clockwise, then counter-clockwise. Then, slowly move the eyes to the left, higher and higher until you see the ceiling. Now, continue circling to the right, lower and lower down, until you see the floor again. Try your best to do this slowly, making a full vision circle. This stretches the eye muscles to the maximum extent.

Note: This final exercise shouldn’t be done until three or four days after you’ve begun the eye exercises mentioned above.

Tip-4

Close your eyes as tightly as you can. Really squeeze the eyes, so the eye muscles contract. Hold this contraction for three seconds, and then let go quickly. This exercise is particularly beneficial after the slight strain caused by the previous eye exercises.

Football Legends Leave No Talent Inheritance: Pele, Maradona and Zidane

The title seems to have no meaning, but it actually means a lot, at least for me.

I remember when my father wanted to criticize one of his friend’s sons by saying: "My friend is a great guy, but his son is a jerk, a good–for–nothing".

But cannot the same principle apply in reverse?

We have seen great legends of football so far. We enjoyed watching them, we were dazzled by their talents and techniques, we admired them and we still do till the appearance of new ones.

Some time later, we forget a little bit about them. Then, we come back to re-enjoy them and we stop and say: ”Wow, they are just eternal."

Sometimes we wonder can they be fathers of new talents like they once were? If their sons dare take up the sports that made their fathers famous, will the son excel also, or become, in my father's harsh words, "a good-for-nothing?"

Let's take a few football legends and examine this question in some detail.

Pele':

Edinho - The son of the great soccer player was involved many times with drugs. His addiction to marijuana, led him to spend some months in the jail.

He was the goalkeeper of the Santos team, and a decent one. But his behavior off the pitch brings nothing to Pele' but shame and headaches.

Peter Schmeichel:

Peter is widely considered one of the all-time great goalkeepers. Schmeichel, Jr. has a great start as a good goal keeper. At least, he is keeping well the family tradition and looking forward to being like his father some day.

To reach Peter’s level, Kaspar now has to play 129 games for his country, win five titles and a European Cup. Oh, and score 11 goals at the other end. That seems to be asking a bit much; only time will tell.

Diego Armando Maradona:

“El pibe de oro” has, unfortunately for our case, only daughters. But recently, Diego became a grandfather. May be, one day the little son would shine in the sky of big names of football. Who knows? Or perhaps he might inherit only the negative part of his grandfather: being a trouble-maker.

Zinedine Zidane:

He is one of the best footballers of the world and might be number 1 for his elegant play and control of the ball.

I think Zidane is the unique player, who made Brazil admire his ballet on two occasions: 1998 and 2006. Though the Brazil boasted the presence of such great talents as Kaka, Ronaldinho and Ronaldo, they were all reduced to watching Zidane weave his magic.

He made them all dance to his magical rhythm and those two performances are a great proof, in the history of football, to explain clearly who was Zidane. His little son, Enzo, has some talent but can he be like his father?

I think, personally, becoming a great talent is a matter of gift. Historically speaking, the theory of talent inheritance in soccer has not yet taken place. Perhaps Enzo Zidane will be the exception.

Larbi Ben Barek: La Perle Noire

Date of birth: June 16, 1914, Morocco.

Date of death: September 16, 1992 (aged 78) in Casablanca. Six years after his death, he was awarded the FIFA Order of Merit Award, which is the award of the highest honor in FIFA.

Throughout history we have seen many great names in football.

Every year, new young players come in and light up the pitch, entertain the masses. To reach legend status takes something just a little more than what the average footballer brings to the table. Scoring vital goals, playing through the pain barrier, putting in memorable performances when they really matter—being legendary means different things to different people.

Ben Barek was a shining star of very cosmopolitan background, possibly the first black superstar in an age when elite football was almost totally white.

Born in Casablanca, Ben Barek was the first African star, and the first to bear the nickname of "Black Pearl." Ben Barek blazed a trail to the European, particularly French and Spanish, leagues. He arrived to Marseille, France at the age of 20, and became an instant favourite with the fans for his skills and technical abilities.

Pele, the soccer legend, took the name of the "Black Pearl"some years after. Pele made a famous statement about Larbi in which he said:

“If I am the king of soccer, then Larbi Ben Barek is the god of it."

Such a statement, specially coming from a player that is perhaps the best soccer player that ever existed, can only show the magic and greatness the Moroccan player was gifted with.

Moroccan forward Larbi Ben Barek became the first African professional in Europe, playing for Olympique de Marseilles and the French national team in 1938.

His career was interrupted by the onset of the Second World War but he was soon back to his best with Stade Francais FC and then in Spain with Atletico Madrid, where he truly blossomed and where his international fame spread.

His nickname with the fans in Spain was "The Foot of God." With the help of Ben Barek, Atlético won La Liga in 1950 and 1951. He returned to Marseille in 1953.

After the magical presentation of Kaka and Ronaldo before the fans of Real Madrid in “Santiago Bernabeu”, the stars decided to meet in a café, “somewhere in nowhere,” in the heart of Madrid. The reason: celebrating their historical records.

Kaka: Oi Cara, tudo bem?

Ronaldo: Hi Ricardo! Let`s speak English please, because I really don`t understand the Brazilian Portuguese.

Kaka: No problem. So, what's up? We’ve made history, huh?

Ronaldo: Actually, I did more than you did.

Professional sportsmen have the top salaries on the planet. No matter what studies you have got, no matter how many languages do you speak ,you'll never be able to earn as much money as in sport.

Money makes life sweet as honey.

Here I want to mention some of many players of football that were confused to choose between money and patriotism.

Karim Benzema:

We all know that his origins are from Algeria.This country has given great names of football, but nothing special as a national team. Except a great victory over Germany. Karim preferred les baguettes françaises than the Tajine or Couscous.

Mauro Camoranesi:

The player of la Juve has never played with Argentina's national team. But his case is different, as in Argentina they underestimated his talent. Besides, there is a depth of talent there, and not everybody has the chance. So he chose the Italian national team. So no more tango, only opera but a lot of mango.

Ibrahim Afellay:

Is originally from Morocco and still has strong family roots on the north of the country. After many discussions with his family whether he should play for Morocco or Netherlands he chooses the Dutch Team. He was told,"You are born in the Netherlands so come on forget about it!"

Khaled Boulahrouz:

The same case as Afellay. Even worse because the idea never crossed his mind. So with the Dutch team no problem. Sparkling wine and Dutch beer are better than mint-tea.

Marcos Senna:

Playing for Spain, I guess the same case as Camoranesi. Brazilian talents let him no chance so why not Spain? He will dance flamenco and forget about samba.

Zinedine Zidane:

Le grand Zizou—never even mention his will to play for Algeria as his level was higher and internationally respected, no way!!

Samir Nasri:

“The hariza player” from Tunisian origins, his choice was the French's team.

To sum up, when it comes to money no patriotism and no feelings, in the Euro they trust.

Arsenal is one my favourite English teams.The reasons are so simple:

First, I've a great respect for the coach: Arsene Wenger is a smart coach working with a limited budget.

There is, actually, no comparison with Manchester or Liverpool.

In spite of this, Arsenal has shown to be one of the best football clubs in England.

Secondly, the Gunners players are always young talents. In the school of Arsenal and at the hands of Wenger they, step by step, become stars.

Arsenal is one of the few teams that offer great opportunity to the young talents, and in few months they are converted to big names. Fortunately, most of them don’t deceive the club.

Looking at the current football market, Arsenal is not well-placed to get the first class pieces.

However, the possibility of chasing young talents always exists.

Kaka and Ronaldo, different styles and different mentalities.

Brazilian Star Kaka is already a "Galactico " but he is asking for more money!

After his brilliant participation in the Confederation Cup, Kaka made a little trip around Africa and found out that there is extreme poverty in the Continent.

In the final match of the Confederation Cup, everybody saw him wearing a t-shirt that proves his strong belief in Jesus: ”I love you Jesus!”

Nobody can deny that Kaka is a serious married gentleman, that’s why he didn’t sleep for two nights, thinking of what he could do for Africa.

His conclusion was to give all the money that Real Madrid had paid him to fight against poverty. So, right now, he is bankrupt and he is asking Madrid for the same sum he spent to help Africa.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, the ex-red devil, is almost bankrupt too. The only reason is his new love, Paris Hilton. The young glamorous girl advised Ronaldo to ask for double of what Madrid had paid for him, otherwise, the new relationship would probably end sooner or later.

By the way,Ronaldo has already spent more than 90 percent of his new fortune.

After meeting Paris Hilton, they watched movies of Denzel Washington, drank a whisky with Bill Clinton, greeted Obama and bought precious gifts for his Mama. Ronaldo now belongs to the upper class and he is one of the richest men on earth.

He must ask for more millions to keep the rhythm and style of the new life. So the Portuguese star asked: "Why do I need more money??"

Paris Hilton simply answered: ”No money, no funny, buddy honey!! and please Baby, don't forget to tell them that you are the boyfriend of Paris Hilton, okay?"

So Real Madrid are ready to face big troubles and maybe they will have to ask for financial help from Barcelona.

The Forgotten Brilliant Players: Remember the Names!

It's not fair to talk about great players like: Messi, Ronaldo, Aguero…without mentioning:

Diego Forlan

Known as "cachavacha". The Uruguayan star, in two seasons, is the top goalscorer in La Liga.

But the last season, was more than this, he is the top scorer of the whole European continent.

Diego achieved an excellent season; he reached a high level that consented him to be better than Eto'o and Villa in Spain, scoring more goals than any other player in Europe.

Like any player, he falls and rises with normal ups and downs, but this year no one could remove him the crown of the best scorer of Europe. The ex-Manchester United player deserves to play in a more competitive club, a team that can suit his level.

Mounir El Hamdaoui

This name is little known in the world of football but very famous in the Eredivisie in Netherlands. The star of AZ Alkmaar was named the top scorer of the Dutch league.

Thanks to his goals, AZ. Alkmaar with Van Gaal as a coach is the champion of Netherlands.

Diego Milito

One of the great names in “il calcio italiano”. This Argentinian player has scored many goals for Genoa in Serie A. A talented player that has attracted many great clubs in Italy. Finally, he signed for the Italian Champion of “Serie A” Internazionale of Milan earlier this summer.

Carlos Tevez

“El Apache“, the ex-Boca Juniors has won the hearts of all fans of Manchester United, but not the heart of Sir Alex Ferguson. According to Manchester fans, he is far better than Berbatov.

If we see the entire matches he played, Carlos always brings a great energy and good fighting spirit on each ball, so does he really deserve to leave Manchester United?

Was Sir Alex fair enough with this great talent of football? Maybe Ferguson doesn't really know his value?

Or perhaps he was playing for the wrong team?

I think these great players deserve both respect and more attention. Unfortunately, the philosophy of football is sometimes tough and unfair!

Conferderations Cup Final: The End

I was impatiently waiting for this final. I am neither American nor Brazilian but I am crazy about football since my childhood. I love the fair game, I respect the great players. I enjoyed very much the Confederations Cup, minute by minute.

All of a sudden, I felt that I am a fan of the U.S team. Why? When? I don't know…may be because they showed a new style. I really liked every match played by the US Team even when they lost against Italy, I was very sad that they played the rest of that match with ten players.

Anyway, let’s come back to the final. From the very beginning, the Americans used and benefited very well from time and space, a very coherent play, and great defense. I celebrated the two goals and and couldn't believe it, because I knew that the game was not over.

The second goal scored by Donovan, was really a wonderful one. I really jumped from my bed with joy and excitement. DONOVAN, scored one of the most beautiful goals. I'd like to stop here and say: great control of ball and a wonderful execution to score.

Respect!!

Frankly speaking, it’s an athletic goal that shows great sportive spirit. In this counter-attack, Donovan ran almost 67 m, a great sprinter he reminded me of Carl Lewis.

I wish I could see him with given golden sneakers as a merit for that goal. One of the heroes of this team too was Howard—a giant goolkeeper—who showed bravery and big balls, he really deserved to be the best goalkeeper of the Confederation Cup.

The US team deserves all credit and respect. They made mistakes in the second half, but from mistakes we always learn and grow.

Finally, the end of the game was a normal Brazilian victory, yes, Brazil this machine of winners throughout the history of football. I am not going to say much about Brazil, all I know is that the Argentina team is waiting for them here next September.

I hope that the "Samba Machine" will break down.

Lionel messi is the best player of the world.

His talent and magic made him number one. Messi is modest, gentle and generous.

He never claimed to be the best and doesn't like talking to the press. But when he was asked to answer some questions; he was always there, kind and available.

Wherever you go everybody loves him and all the national teams dream to have him.

This phenomenon was born in Rosario Argentina; the country of great names in the history of football such as Diego Armando Maradona, Batistuta, Zanetti, Simoene, Veron…etc

The Messi family moved to Barcelona, where the birth of Messi as a star took place.

He played at the Youth World Cup 2005 in Holland, and didn`t win only the cup, but he was selected the best player and the top scorer.

With Barcelona he ha won almost everything: Chamipons League, La Liga Española, La Copa Del Rey .

He scored one of the legendary goals against Getafe, on the Maradona's way. Even Diego enjoys watching him caressing the ball .

Since his childhood, his style was marked by a great speed, very difficult to control, smart and quick. Actually, he makes the defenders feel dizzy; that’s why he was called “la pulga,” "flea," in English .

Can anyone reach his level? Well, many people would say of course: Ronaldo, Kaka and so on.

Bad Play From Brazil But a Good Result

The Brazilian team danced to the African rhythm for 80 minutes. The Brazilian players experienced fear and disorder… what was going on? Are we Brazilians or not? Yes they are but they were playing against a team full of pride and good spirit.

Not too much was to see from the most talented Brazilian players… Dunga was watching and thinking about a solution to fix this complicated match. Finally, the referee gave the Brazilians a non-existing free kick that really stole all the African dreams… USA now is waiting for Brazil, so goo USA! You can make it, Brazil is nothing more special than Spain.

Brazil v. South Africa

After the amazing thriller of USA against Spain today, the south African team "Bafana " has the opportunity to prove to the world that the African lions could surprise the famous "Samba" team.

Brazil easily qualified to the semis and they scored many goals, even against la squadra azzurra. People today are afraid to say that Brazil could win easily the Cup. Apparently, the US team has changed the logical prognostics and showed that the colour of the sky is not always blue as it seems.

Can the Africans apply this theory that not every shining object is gold? Mathematically this appears almost impossible, but anything can happen.

Football games have many rules but the ball has none so sometimes you want to send it into the net and simply the ball says no!
