Busch Smashes Guitar in Nashville

I recently read a blog of someone defending Kyle Busch for smashing the guitar in Nashville after his win there this weekend.

It was stated that Busch was simply wanting to share a piece of the trophy with all his teammates and no disrespect was intended. This is the same driver who would turn on his team and blame them if he had a bad race. So to say that his intentions were noble, I don't buy it.

I just don't get how you can defend this.

Sure sure he wanted to share it with his team, but why smash it right there in victory lane. Accept it gracefully and later if you want to share it with your team then why not order them all their own trophy, or a smaller replica or hey how about buy them all a nice dinner.

To me it is very disrespectful to the artist who took his time to paint the Les Paul Guitar, to the race organizers, and to the guitar manufacturers.

Busch is no rock star and even they don't smash their expensive, one-of-a-kind guitars on stage.

This is just another example of his immature behavior.

My Nascar Experience

I started watching NASCAR because my husband was a big fan; I was hooked immediately.

He is now my ex-husband, but my love of NASCAR has remained constant.

One of the first races I ever watched was in 2001. Dale Earnhardt died during this race. I was struck by how this affected everyone in the NASCAR world, from drivers to commentators.

Whether you liked him or not most people respected "The Intimidator."

Eight years has passed since then and I am still a fan. My driver likes and dislikes have not changed much.

I love Ryan Newman and loathe Kyle Busch.

Busch has replaced Jeff Gordon as my most hated driver. He can drive and win, he has proved that, but his attitude stinks.

He is prone to temper tantrums that rival any 2-year-old child that doesn't get to have that extra cookie before dinner. He needs to grow up and realize it's not always about winning.

It's about how you handle the bad times along with the good. Put on a good face and say well that was disappointing but we will do better next time.

I do have a tremendous amount of respect for all the drivers, yes even the ones I do not like, because of their work with charities.

Most—if not all the drivers—work with a charity organization. Some, such as Newman have started their own organizations. They all truly care about others and are enthusiastic about helping out where they can.

What other sport can say their athletes are as giving and caring as NASCAR?

I will be a lifelong fan of NASCAR.

Every Sunday, you will find me in front of the TV watching the action on the track. And in the words of Darrell Waltrip: "Boogity Boogity Boogity, Let's go racing boys!"
