Bleacher Bogeys: Tiger Woods or the Field?

Tiger Woods or the Field?

Cold-weather golfers will testify that sometimes your best rounds come early in the season. After shoveling snow for five months, you're no longer fighting your swing, trying to cram every playing partner's suggestion into a 7-iron. So, in effect, was Tiger's win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational just beginner's luck? Because compared to the Tiger of old, he's looked like a weekend warrior ever since.

Tiger's Best Weapon in Jeopardy

You guessed it: the right-handed swing.

Blocked out by a tree on No. 11 at the TPC last weekend, Woods flipped over a wedge, toe down, and crushed it clear across the fairway some 112 yards left-handed. Nike should have him fitted for a lefty driver any day now.

Is It Phil Mickelson's Time to Shine?

Speaking of lefties, will Lefty step up to fill the Tiger void? Mickelson stared him down at Augusta and posted a course-record 30 on the front nine. With the US Open just one month away, the world's No. 1 ranking is within reach. Then again, the last time we gave Lefty a chance to shine, he shanked the worst cameo in "Entourage" history.

Building the Ultimate Golf Course

Here's a course so elite, even the Golden Bear was denied membership. Must have been built by a soldier in Arnie's Army.

Bleacher Bogeys: Sean O'Hair Backs Into Third PGA Victory

O'Hair-y Finish

By all accounts, Sean O'Hair is not only a great kid, he may just be the best golfer under 30. Sunday's win at Quail Hollow was his third on Tour. However, you could make the case that his double-dip and eventual loss to Phil Mickelson at THE PLAYERS in 2007 was more far more entertaining than that bogey-bogey backdoor win.

Charity Abounds at THE PLAYERS

Speaking of next week's event, once known as golf's fifth major, here's a great story about some of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into the TPC Sawgrass. Last year, THE PLAYERS Championship generated $3 million for local charities. This year, those funds will be diverted to pay for a haircut for Bubba Watson.

Nicklaus and Woods: Golf's Greatest Closers

Tiger is 13-0 in majors when leading on Sunday morning. Astonishing. That was back when he hit fairways off the tee, right?

Did He Just Call Tiger a Loser?!

No, we just referenced his recent struggles with the driver.

Oh, you mean David Faherty? Yeah, he did call Tiger a loser in a post-round interview on CBS. It was probably the most laughable thing Faherty's done since missing the cut in seven of fifteen major appearances.
