Interview With Future Cardinals Third Baseman Matt Foote, Part One [Humor]

This is an interview I conducted with future St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matthew David Foote. You have no clue how hard this was to get.

Full Name: Matthew David Foote

Age: 14

Weight: 165

Hight: 6'0"

Position: Third Base

Number: 2, 17

High School: Mehlville Senior High

College: N/A

Born: June 1, 1995. St.Louis, MO

Bats: Switch

Throws: Switch

Biography: Been playing third base for three years now. Basic average .300+ hitter. Can muscle the ball when needed. Crazy glove, can catch nearly anything when on. Amazing arm, can get it to first very quickly. Can bat left or right. Thorws right, has been working on left arm as well.

Interview:

So Matt, you have intentions of playing in the MLB correct?

"Yes."

Specifically for the Cardinals at third base?

"Again yes."

Why do you think you are qualified?

"Well, I have incredible defense. I'm not the power hitter, but I will hit .300."

Hmm...being only 14, what do you think this says of you?

"Well I'm hoping that someone will say 'Hey, this kid can play some D. Nice sweet stroke. Watch him, see what happens when he turns 16, 17. Maybe get him ready for draft day.' You know?

Yes. Yes. Is there anything you want to say to anyone who will read this?

"Yeah, first, watch your kids, they may have a special talent that is hard to see. Second, I have been labeled as a not profile player, but all I can say to those people is 'Then why can't you take over for me?' In fact a teammate once told me I'm better then you at third, I told him, then why aren't you playing here?"

Nice, interesting stuff. Well seeing as you have to run thank you for your time, and best of luck.

"Thank you. Thank you for wanting to talk to me as well. Maybe we can speak again someday"

Maybe.

There you have it. Matt Foote. Stay tuned for my second interview with him which will be released a couple days from now, where we talk about life, baseball, and almost everything else.

Letters Of Apology To The Cubs

Dear Alfonso Soriano,

Hey man. How's it going? I'm sorry about your year. I mean I guess it isn't too bad. You guys in Chicago are still in the race. Tell them fans though that I don't want to hear anything about it. It is you front office's fault. Milton, God bless him, wasn't a good choice. Tell Big Z I'm sorry about his injury riddeled season.

                               Sincerely,

Albert Pujols

Dear Carlos Zambrano,

Look who has the upper hand now Carlos! Haha! Remember when you said, "Man Carpenter has no chance". Look who had the last laugh! Wich reminds me, you missed your grass cutting job. No pay check for you.

Sincerely,

Chris Carpenter

Dear Lou Pinella,

Who's the top dog now? Ya, that's right. Tony the man. Again. You didn't deserve that Manager of The Year. Swept in the first round! HAHAHAAHAHA at least when we get swept it's in the WS!

Sincerely,

Tony Larussa :P

Dear Cubs Management,

I hate you. Also, Milton Bradley sucks!

Sincerely,

Steve Bartman

Dear Chicago,

101 years. Man, you should've let my goat in.

Sincerely,

Billy Sianis

Man Pujols is to nice...

Let's just look at this picture for a moment.

http://blog.pennlive.com/patriotnewssports/2008/11/large_QUADE.jpg

Wonder what they are saying?

"Man that was some good hitting Kosuke!"

" ありがとう, ありがとうございます, 感謝します, 大感謝 ! (Thank you very much!)"

"My mother is a saint!"

"いいえ、私は大変ありがとうございますと言いました！(No, I said thank you very much!)"

"I knew you were a bad acquisition, geez some no good immigrant..."

"????????"

Proof that Fukudome wasn't the best idea.

Baseball In The Year 2020 East Divisions.

This is a short piece on how baseball will look in the year 2020. Wich teams will be on top? Wich on bottom? Find out what happens to your favorite team> My crack team of scientits(Terrible, and my self)have simulated these events millions of times(ok maybe 0 times.) and have figured out the answers. I will release these by area. East, then Central, Then West.

Hope you enjoy!
Begin Slideshow

The Other Pitcher The Cardinals Could Get

Everyone is saying how we need to get Halladay (me included). Yet what if there was another?

Enter Mark Buehrle. He is from here. He WANTS to pitch here. He is a phenomenal pitcher... Put the pieces together and what do ya get?

A pitcher who will stay here no matter what, will be almost just as good as Halladay could have been, and we still win the World Series.

Why no one has brought it up is a strange thought. Just think of it though. He would be less of a burden to trade for (same for DeRosa deal. Just a MLB or AAA middle reliver and PTBNL).

Wow. He also wouldn't command the coin Halladay would even if he wanted to make his hometown team pay the true ammount. It could be the perfect deal. They are also shopping Jermaine Dye around so if we tack on a hitting prospect (Daryl Jones anybody?) we could get both.

Thats another starter and another outfielder. We shore up our rotation and we shore up our OF. Ludwick, Ramus, Dye. Wow that sounds perfect. It just works with Wallace, Ryan, Schumaker, Pujols, Thurston, Freese, Robinson, Mather, and Molina. Throw in Carpenter, Pineiro, Buehrle, Wainwright, Lohse, Franklin, Motte, Ring, McClellan, Miller, Reyes, Todd, and Garcia and what do ya get? A World Series caliber team.

Thats just 25 players who will destroy any team. I can feel around 104 wins easy. If they played hard enough they could get upwards of 113. Man, it would be back to the heydays of the 40's with all the championships we could compile without having more then a couple players change for 5 or 6 years!

Cardinals Guide To Winning The World Series

Trade for Roy Halladay. Despite speculation it would only take a trade involving Jess Todd, Daryl Jones, PJ Walters, cash considerations, or a player to be named later. A deal needs to be done.

Halladay is signed through 2010. With a starting rotation of Carpenter, Wainright, Lohse, Halladay, and Pineiro... man, they would be unbeatable.

Can I smell 105 victories? Just think, the top four of those guys have the ability to get 15-20 wins EVERY season. It would be incredible. Add Brett Wallace, Albert Pujols, Ryan Ludwick, Skip Schumaker, Colby Rasmus, Yadier Molina, Chris Duncan, and Brendan Ryan, and you have a team that can hit, field, pitch, can run.

I mean come on! The Cards are the perfect fit for Halladay. Former Blue Jays Chris Carpenter and Troy Glaus played with him as well. We could dominate the playoffs for the next three years at least.

The Cards need to pounce. They just need to! We all saw what happened when CC Sabathia came from the AL to the NL, just add another year onto it!

Come on Mo make the trade. Just don't give up Kozma or Wallace, or I will put together a mob that will attack you. And I will call for your head and yadayada.

NL Cy Young: Don't Be Surprised If It's...

Joel Pineiro. His 7-9 record is very misleading. It is a factor in the Cardinals less then amazing offense this year.

He has 11 quality starts in 17 starts, and has a decision in 16 of 17 games. Joel leads the NL in fewest homers allowed, with three. To put that in perspective, Paul Konerko hit three homers two days ago. He has two shutouts and three complete games. He has a 1.11 WHIP, 3.20 ERA, and .267 BAA. In 115.1 innings he has given up just 12 walks, with zero intentional walks.

This is turning into an All-Star caliber season (with more run support he would have at least 10 wins). Joel and Lincecum are the only ones I am tagging right now that could win the NL Cy Young (especially with the corupt voting!).

Four Guys that Deserve a 100% in MLB HOF Voting

The HOF voters are obviously stupid. They couldn't see a good baseball player if he walked up and hit them in the face.

How does Jackie only get 77% of the votes? He broke the color barrier. He CHANGED baseball. There are only three people who changed baseball: Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, and Jose Canseco.

These four guys just deserve 100%. They just do.
Begin Slideshow

Phil Mickleson: Another Cancer

Six weeks after Phil Mickelson announced his wife had breast cancer, his mother was diagnosed with the disease and is to have surgery later this week.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported on its Website that Mary Mickelson discovered she had breast cancer last week. She is to have surgery Friday at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, the same hospital where Mickelson's wife, Amy, had surgery last Wednesday.

Mickelson's sister, Tina, told the newspaper she wanted to make her mother's condition known so she could receive the same outpouring of support and prayers that meant so much to Amy Mickelson.

Mickelson has not spoken publicly since the U.S. Open where he was a runner-up for a record fifth time.

His parents live in the same San Diego house where they raised their three children. Mary Mickelson was honored in 1998 as "Mother of the Year" by the San Diego chapter of the March of Dimes. She said at the time, "I don't know if I've done anything extra than other mothers. We've always been involved and have just been there."

Mickelson said at Bethpage Black that it was "highly unlikely" he would play the British Open, and said his schedule the rest of the year depended on his wife's battle with cancer.

The four sluggers are the National League's first basemen for the game on July 14 in St. Louis. The game airs at 8 PM ET on FOX. The home run derby will be held Monday night at Busch Stadium.

Pujols leads the Majors with 31 home runs for the Cardinals. Howard won the 2006 All-Star Home Run Derby in Pittsburgh.

Howard has hit more than 40 home runs in four consecutive seasons, including 58 in 2006. He's on his way to another strong campaign this season with 20 long balls in just over 300 at-bats.

Fielder, who got off to a cold start last season, has resumed his role as being one the NL's most feared sluggers. He's got 22 home runs in just under 300 at-bats, and combined with fellow All-Star Ryan Braun, gives Milwaukee the league's best power duo.

When you consider that Adrian Gonzalez plays in one of the worst power parks in San Diego, his 24 home runs this season look that much more impressive. Gonzalez is making his second All-Star appearance.

The American League participants will be announced later.

One More Reason Pujols Will Win The MVP

Coming off one of the finest months of his magnificent Major League career, Albert Pujols was named the National League Player of the Month for June on Friday, the second time in three months (April) this season he's been so honored.

Pujols tied a career high for home runs in a month with 14 and became the seventh player in Major League history to reach 30 home runs before July 1. He set a new personal best with 35 RBIs, and he batted .320 with a .427 on-base percentage and an .856 slugging percentage.

Pujols scored his 1,000th career run on June 19 against the Royals, and 11 of his 14 home runs during the month provided the Cardinals with a lead.

"I don't look at numbers," Pujols said. "Why am I going to sit up and look at numbers?," Pujols said.

"That's not how I approach this game. If I can stay healthy and continue to do what I do, I think I'm going to have plenty of time to look at numbers at the end of my career. So why sweat it right now? Why think about it? It was a great month. Thank God that he kept me healthy to do what I did, and hopefully I can do it next month again."

The two-time MVP posted three multi-homer games in June, and he highlighted his big month with a grand slam and six RBIs against the Royals on June 21. He has a heavy lead in balloting to be the National League's starting first baseman in the All-Star Game.

"He keeps showing you why he's a great player," manager Tony La Russa said. "I don't know what else to say. Just enjoy it. Respect it. Appreciate it."

He beat out Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval and Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder for the award

Albert Pujols Takes Over The First Of Stan Musial's Many Accomplishments

Albert Pujols may have a little bit of record fatigue, but everyone around him is enjoying the show.

Pujols etched his name in the record books of both the Cardinals and Major League Baseball once again on Friday night with an eighth-inning home run off Reds reliever David Weathers in St. Louis' 7-4 win.

The shot was his 31st of the year, but more notably, it was his fourth grand slam of 2009. That set a Cardinals' record, breaking a tie with Jim Bottomley, Keith Hernandez and Fernando Tatis. Moreover, it was the 10th grand slam of Pujols' Major League career, another club record.

That one, though, was a little grander. He broke a tie with the greatest Cardinal of them all, Stan Musial, who hit nine in his career. That caught the attention of his manager.

"He broke Stan Musial's career record?" manager Tony La Russa asked. "I'll go bow to his feet here in a second. That's a serious point to make."

Pujols wanted no part of the topic, though.

"I don't want to talk about it," he said. "The last time I talked about it, you guys jinxed it. So I don't want to talk about grand slams."

In addition to the slams, Pujols put himself in the annals in another way. His homer was the 350th of his career. He's the third-youngest player in history to reach that mark, at 29 years, 168 days. The only players to get to 350 at an earlier age were Alex Rodriguez (28 years, 282 days) and Ken Griffey Jr. (28 years, 308 days).

Pujols leads the Majors in home runs, RBI (82), runs scored (63), total bases (205), on-base percentage (.460) and slugging percentage (.748).

Why Are We Celebrating Cheaters?

"Manny Ramirez is back in the big leagues, looking like a guy who missed 50 games.

Returning from his suspension for violating baseball's drug policy, the Los Angeles slugger barely hit the ball out of the infield in the Dodgers' 6-3 win over the San Diego Padres on Friday night.

He did provide a lot of energy to the team with baseball's best record."- Foxsports.com

I will stop you right there.

Why are we celebrating a cheater? Last night Albert Pujols hit an eighth Grand Slam(his fourth on the year and 10th career beating Stan The Man Musial) to give the Cardinals a 4-3 lead.

Then with it tied 4-4 in the ninth inning Jarret Hoffpauir(making his MLB debut), who walked to load the bases for Albert in the eighth, sent a ball over the head of Edwin Encarnacion to give the Cards a 6-4 lead and the eventual 7-4 win. Ryan Franklin recorded his 20 save.

By the way that's less then K-Rod who has three blown saves and a 2-2 record. Yet have you heard of this? No! Not unless you watched the game, were on the cardinals website(STI Cardinals), or watched MLB tonight(MLB network) at the right time!

This is ridiculous. We cover a cheater instead of the Best Player in The Game! When was the last article about Pujols hitting the Triple Crown(besides the millions here on BR)? This is ridiculous.

Tim Lincecum is also going for the Pitching Triple Crown. Did you hear about that? Most likely not unless you read my article about it!

When you look on the featured stories list this probably won't be there. In fact I will be lucky to get 10 views! That is because by the time this is published there will be five million articles on Manny.

Now it is disgusting that a good informative article is pushed out of view for the view of a article about a cheater.

(Thank you Jack Clark or giving me the motivation to write this article)

St. Louis Continues Push Into Latin America: Signs Highly Touted Wagner Mateo

(Ya I know the picture is Albert but the picture thing wouldn't allow me to upload one.)

The Cardinals continued their recent push into Latin America with a major signing on Thursday, as they announced a deal with 16-year-old Dominican outfielder Wagner Mateo.

Once all but a non-factor in the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, the Cardinals have increased their efforts in those areas in recent years. Mateo is the highest-profile fruit of that labor to date.

According to multiple reports, he will receive a bonus of $3 million or a little more. That would be the second-largest bonus ever paid to a Latin American free agent, and the largest to a hitter, trailing only the $4.25 million the A's gave pitcher Michael Ynoa last year.

"This agreement is a significant step for the organization in Latin America and reflects our desire to scout and develop the best talent across the globe," Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said in a statement issued by the team.

Mateo is listed at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds and swings left-handed. He turned 16 on March 30. He participated in Major League Baseball's RBI World Series in 2007 and 2008, representing the Dominican Republic.

Along with infielder Miguel Sano, Mateo is widely considered one of the top two talents in this year's pool of amateur free agents from Latin America. Thursday marked the beginning of the signing period for those players.

This now means the Cardinals could have a backup to Albert Pujols in a few years as hopefully Mateo continues to crush pitching at a professional level.

Cards Call Up Hoffpauir: Why Not Wallace?

The Cardinals called up infielder Jarrett Hoffpauir on Wednesday afternoon, making him the 15th rookie to wear the "Birds on the Bat" this season. When he first appears, he will be the ninth Cardinal to make his Major League debut in 2009.

To make room on the roster for Hoffpauir - who was hitting .276 with eight doubles, 10 home runs and 31 RBI for Triple-A Memphis - the club optioned pitcher Clayton Mortensen back to Memphis. Mortensen, who gave up two earned runs in three innings Monday night, wouldn't have been available for another day or two.

The Cardinals have struggled against left-handed pitching this year and Hoffpauir may be called upon to help change that. The right-handed hitting second baseman was hitting .340 against lefties at Memphis.

Hoffpauir hit .320 in June with seven home runs and 20 RBI.

Yet Brett Wallace is still sitting down. After a cold start to Triple-A he has been on fire and is on a 16-game hit streak. He is now hitting .290 with five homers and 14 RBI.

He seems to have gotten his swing back. This is the perfect time to send him up. It tells him "man I got something great going on just gotta settle in and hit."

Hoffpauir has been hitting great, but I think Wallace deserves it a little bit more.

Acctual News: Mark DeRosa Injures Wrist

Somehow I knew Mark DeRosa would end up hurt or a bad investment. I can't belive I was right! Now I did want him to succed but I also wanted Mo to look like an Idiot. Mission accomplished.

DeRosa injured his left wrist on a swing in the fourth inning of St. Louis' 6-3 loss to San Francisco on Tuesday night. He remained in the game for one more inning, but removed himself before taking another at-bat. He is expected to be reexamined on Wednesday.

"I took a swing there my second at-bat and felt a little tweak in my left wrist," DeRosa said. "I went in to hit off the tee after coming in from playing the field, and it just didn't feel right. I felt like I should come out of the game and get it looked at."

Pitcher Chris Carpenter was removed for a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the fifth. When the sixth inning started, reliever Josh Kinney slotted into DeRosa's spot in the batting order as part of a double-switch. Neither DeRosa nor manager Tony La Russa had any diagnosis beyond discomfort in the joint. DeRosa said he had never had an injury in that area before, so he did not know exactly what to make of it.

"I have no idea," he said. "There are so many small bones and stuff in the wrist. I don't know. But I didn't want to go out there and push it and find myself not being able to play for a little bit."

After taking Randy Johnson's first pitch of the at-bat for a ball, DeRosa swung and missed at a changeup from Johnson, at which point he felt pain. He finished the at-bat, fouling off two pitches and hitting one of them extremely hard into the seats down the third-base line.

"I was able to gut through it," he said. "It didn't hinder my swing at all. But it was something that was progressively getting a little more uncomfortable as I stayed in the game."

(Four Top Catchers in ASG voting)

A lot of people say Yadier Molina isn't worth a ASG vote. Those people are wrong.

What these stats don't tell you is well, everything!

Yadi is the best deffensive catcher in, at least, the last 25-30 years! Yadi is two times what Ivan Rodriguez ever was as a defensive catcher (13 Gold Gloves). He was awarded the first of what hopes to be many Gold Gloves in 2008.

He has thrown out 55 percent of all would be base stealers. He has only 31 errors in 579 games and sports a .992 career FPCT. Yadi has made a whopping one error in 67 games so far in 2009.

Yadi is maturing offensivly as well. Who else remembers the 2006 NLCS Game Seven's ninth inning?

Here's how it went in my mind: "Come on Yadi! You can do it bud! [Swing, crack] Yea! come on, uh oh Chavez. Gone! Yea! We are going to the World Series!"

You know, just my mind though.

That proved he can hit them out, and at the perfect moments. All of his homers are at the right time we are down, tied, comingback, men on, that's more then Pujols can say (he does hit the bulk like that though).

Yadier deserves to be the first Molina borther in the All Star Game. Bengie could be his backup. Only Pujols deserves it more.

Mariano Rivera: 500 Saves And... One RBI

Mariano Rivera earned his 500th save last night against the Mets.

But that wasn't his only milestone. He also earned his first RBI.

Guess which feat he was most excited about.

On a New York night that belonged to baseball's most unflappable closer, Rivera became the second reliever to reach the 500-save milestone when the Yankees held off the punch-less Mets 4-2 Sunday for a Subway Series sweep.

He joined Milwaukee's Trevor Hoffman, who has 571 saves, as the only major leaguers with 500. The biggest surprise, though: Rivera drew a bases-loaded walk to add a ninth-inning insurance run.

"I had one thing in mind—just try to do something," Rivera said, before expounding on his save. "Don't get me wrong, it's definitely special."

Chien-Ming Wang won for the first time in more than a year and Rivera got four outs, securing the Yankees' fifth consecutive victory, all on the road.

In a fun twist, the 39-year-old closer even contributed offensively.

The Mets walked Derek Jeter intentionally to get to Rivera with two outs, but he's proved to be no pushover at the plate. He fouled off a 2-2 pitch from Francisco Rodriguez before working out a walk for his first career RBI.

It was the third regular-season plate appearance for Rivera—and second in five days. With his teammates yucking it up in the dugout, he flied out against Atlanta on Wednesday, when he got save No. 498.

"He looks good up there," longtime teammate Andy Pettitte said. "I think in Atlanta they gave him a take sign and he swung anyway."

Mark Teixeira hit a two-run double off Livan Hernandez (5-3) in a three-run first, when the Yankees had two of their four hits.

The injury-depleted Mets managed five, their best offensive output of the three-game series. The Yankees took five of six games from their crosstown rivals this season, handing the Mets their first sweep in 13 series at their new home, Citi Field.

"He's one of the premier closers in my time," Mets manager Jerry Manuel said about Rivera. "I wasn't applauding him tonight, but you do have to applaud that."

Rivera entered with two on in the eighth and went to a full count on Omir Santos before throwing a called third strike. The right-hander pitched a one-hit ninth for his 18th save in 19 chances this season.

"He's the definition of consistency," Jeter said.

After the final out, Teixeira handed Rivera the game ball and the Yankees poured out of the dugout to hug him near first base.

It was the 110th time Rivera has gone more than one inning for a save. And he's done all this with one pitch for the most part—that searing cut fastball.

"I told him he's the best ever. The best I've seen. Nobody can even compare," Yankees catcher Jorge Posada said.

The Yankees (43-32) matched a season high at 11 games over .500.

Still struggling with his command, Wang (1-6) allowed four hits and three walks in a season-high 5 1-3 innings. He was pulled with a runner on second, but Phil Coke and Phil Hughes got the Yankees out of the sixth unscathed.

Hughes worked around a lead-off walk in a hitless seventh. Brian Bruney got two outs but walked two batters before manager Joe Girardi called on Rivera, whose first save came on May 17, 1996, against the California Angels when he got Garret Anderson to ground into a game-ending double play, closing out an 8-5 victory for Andy Pettitte and the Yankees.

Girardi and Jeter each had two hits and an RBI in that game.

Following a season-ending foot injury last June, Wang has been unable to rediscover the form that made him a 19-game winner in 2006 and '07.

His previous win was June 15 last year in Houston and he was 0-3 with a 34.50 ERA after three starts this season, then went on the disabled list for nearly a month with weakness in the adductor muscles in his hips.

After coming back, Wang made three relief appearances before returning to the rotation June 4 against Texas. His last three outings have shown gradual improvement.

The Mets cut it to 3-2 in the fourth. Prized prospect Fernando Martinez snapped an 0-for-16 slump with an RBI double and scored on Luis Castillo's two-out single.

Baseball Teams are like Food

I was riding in the car thinking of the Cardinals..and food. I don't know why, but i just was. Then I got the idea! Sports teams are kind of like food! I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! I don't know what else to say but I have to have 300 characters(stupid rule) which is hard when you can explain it in 2 sentences, yet of course i could go more in depth but just read it and enjoy!
Begin Slideshow

How To Win a World Series Championship In 5 Easy Steps

Many teams throughout the years have been under "curses" and needed wining seasons badly for their fans. Aka Chicago Cubs. In this article any team will learn how to win a championship in 5 easy steps. Just look at some of our customers: Boston Red Sox went from 86 year drought to two world championships. Chicago White Sox 88 years, sweep in 2005. Lou Pinella bought the guide for the cubs, but lost it when ejected from a game in wich he lit the book on fire and threw it into the opposing teams dugout like a molotive cocktail, or like David Hulse. There said, drought stands at 101 years.
Begin Slideshow

Nat's Nation: Time For a Change

I'm a true blue St. Louis Cardinals but I have this thing for really horrible teams (as i play for one) like the Washington Nationals or simply the Nats. I actually like the Nationals. When you look at them on paper they could compete, but baseball isn't about paper now is it?

Now obviously the name Nationals came from Washington D.C. being the nations capital, but a far fitting team name would be the "Washington Congressmen" or the "Washington 1776'ers" or even the strange "Washington Stephen Strasburgs" (might entice said No. 1 draft pick to sign).

Now we all know what happened when the "Tampa Bay Rays" changed their name. They won the best division and made a world series run. Is it time for a name change in the capital?

Their are many other things they could do of course, scout draft picks better, sell the team, get draftees to sign, etc. Still a name change would be the coolest of these all. They could have a promotion: Submit a name, if you win you get to pitch five innings in a real baseball game! Heck they might get some good talent that way.

If you agree they should do something say so, write to your lame non-Missouri representatives (not counting Ted Kennedy), shoot some people, do what you can to get on the news and say hey Nats Nation what do ya say?

Chicago Cubs' Carlos Zambrano has a Hamstring Strain Out 2-3 weeks

Carlos Zambrano has a hamstring injury.

After bunting, he ran to first and stepped awkwardly. He was taken off the field.

The injury was released as a hamstring strain. Personally, I'm happy because I am a Cardinal fan.

This is the latest of Zambrano's many injuries. He needs to get back on track after a slow start and a few minor injuries already.

This was very short but i just wanted to keep you informed.

Update-It was released he will be out for 2-3 weeks

The Top Five Baseball Players Never To Play in the MLB

These baseball players are of people wh o were great but you probably never heard of them or you have heard of them but not much. (the picture is of Saduharu Oh being lifted up as the manager of the 2006 WBC Champions Team Japan.) These players have fit the bill to be greats but have somehow slipped under the radar. I mean some of these could be counted as the Greatest of all time. Still i hope you like it and comment i enjoy feedback especially consturcted critisim. Also thank you Cliff Eastham for the insperation to put this together. *Disclaimer i new of all these players and their accomplishments before i wrote this so dont shoot your mouth off saying i didnt.
Begin Slideshow

Who Is the Best MLB Player of Today?

Theres some debate on the best player of today in the MLB and I'd like to take a crack at clearing it up. Its between Hanley Ramirez, Albert Pujols, A-Roids, and David Wright for most people.

Well lets start it off by saying Ryan Howard, Adam Dunn, and Prince Fielder didn't make this because they strike out too much and their averages a well below .300, on the other hand Ryan Bruan isn't deep enough in his career to be taken into this debate.

First off I want to kick A-Roids out becuase well he tested positive for some sort of banned substance at one time or another. So we got it down to three Pujols, Ramirez, and Wright.

Reasons for Hanley: Good Speed, Decent Power, Ok Glove, Good Average

Reasons for Pujols: Great Power, Great Average, Decent Glove, Great Base Running

Reasons for Wright: Good Glove, Good Power, Good Average, Good Speed

Now I agree all are phenomenal five tool players, but you gotta pick the two time NL MVP Albert Pujols because they are pretty closely matched in defensive capabilities and what Pujols lacks in speed he makes up for in phenomenal base running skills.

The Power factor: All have the ability to hit 35-40 homers and on better years 45. What this really comes down to is nobody hits for average and power combination like Pujols and I think everyone would agree.

St. Louis Cardinals: The Greatest MLB Team Ever

The St.Louis Cardinals have the best team in baseball, so its time to finally write down my feelings...

You all said psh, the Cardinals, yeah maybe a second-place team but nothing special. This is a perfect example of Cardinal tradition.

Excuse me; let's start from the beginning. So way back in the the 1880's and '90s, the Cardinals were kickin' butt in the AA, winning a few series that were precursors to the WS.

Then in 1900 they were named from the Perfectos to the Cardinals a year after they had the greatest pitcher ever, Cy Young.

Twenty years went by some very good teams but nothin clicked enough until 1926, when Ol' Rogers Hornsby along with Billy Southworth, Specs, Sunny Jim, Grover Alexander, and Chick Hafey beat the Yankees in seven, proving to the World they were Champions.

Then a few years later, the Gashouse Gang of Dizzy Dean, Pepper Martin, and Leo Durocher along with a great man in Branch Rickey tore up the '30s winning a couple more series.

But it really heated up in the '40s with Red, Musial, and Cooper winning a few more World Series.

The '60s were possibly the greatest era for Cardinals baseball with Brock and Gibson, and Cepada taking it their way for a few more WS wins.

Then came the 70's: no WS wins, but Torre came to town. The '80s ushered in Whitey Ball and Smith with Coleman and Forsch, and Willie McGee.

The '90s brought the tainted McGwire. And the new Century gave us Edmonds, Eckstein, Pujols, Carpenter, Rolen, Izzy, and Yadi.

Yeah, the Yankees have more WS wins, but the money factor there compared to here has been differentials of millions, but we have proven to field teams good enough to give us the second most WS wins ever. 2009 will make it 11.
