Big Show: What's Next for the Big Man?

I've been watching Raw these last few weeks and I've been relatively pleased with what I've seen. However, I must say i am disappointed with what the WWE are doing with the Big Show.

He is 7 foot and close to 500 pounds. The man has proven he can hold his own on the mic and has proven he has what it takes to take part in a big rivalry.

Right about now you are probably thinking what possible storyline could Big Show fit into at this moment in time. Well, in my opinion, he would fit perfectly in Legacy.

They seem to be getting beaten around the place to easily lately and don't command the respect of stables like Evolution.

A major fact Evolution was a success was because it had an enforcer in the form of Batista. I feel that if Show was to join Legacy as an enforce , he would excel in the role. It would also make Legacy a more feared entity on Raw.

Now so far you probably feel the prospect of Show joining Legacy seems to have a lot of benefits for Legacy but not for Show.

Well just think if he was to come out and attack HHH during the triple threat at NOC, this would immediately mean the start of a rivalry between HHH and Show.

If Show was to get a few wins over HHH in this rivalry, then this would turn him into a feared and respected superstar in the Raw locker room.

Now the only problem i see with Show joining Legacy is that Legacy is a stable for wrestlers who's fathers have been wrestlers before them. We all know Orton doesn't care about principles and that he only cares for himself.

So if he was to say Show was joining to be enforcer for Legacy than this would immediately make the fans hate Orton more and show him as a person who will throw his principals away just to keep his title. And in doing so, he would add to his image as a heel.

A Happy Smackdown Fan

Watching the events of the draft pan out on Monday, I was worried about Smackdowns' hopes of putting up any competition against Raw.

When I saw Smackdown lose some of their best superstars such as HHH, MVP, Big Show and Matt Hardy, I was worried about their hopes of being a successful brand when they lost these superstars.

In the first pick, they lost the US Championship. Following this they lost three superstars who were in key matches at Wrestlemania, including the WWE Champion HHH. The only wrestler they got in between these picks was Women's Champion Malina.

However Smackdown was given a huge boost when they gained the services of Mr Money In The Bank, CM Punk. Then they gained the services of Kane and (one of the best heels in WWE at the moment) Chris Jericho.

Later on in the night Jericho was responsible for bringing back a former Smackdown great in Rey Mysterio.

Now you may be asking why Smackdown should be happy about this years draft in regard to Smackdown. Considering they lost six superstars, including three champions and they were left without a world champion, then thing look very bleak for smackdown.

But when you think they got the services of the Intercontinental champion and womens champion then things are looking good.

Also having obtained the services of Mr MITB, things are looking very good, as they are practically guaranteed to have a world championship back on Smackdown within a matter of weeks.

Now this is where it gets good. Raw gained the service of five of Smackdown's top Superstars and it would appear Raw is the show to see for storyline purposes.

However, if you appreciate a quality wrestling match but at the same time good entertainers then smackdown is definately the show to watch.

With superstars such as CM Punk, Edge, Shelton Benjamin, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, and Jeff Hardy, Smackdown is definitely going to dominate the quality wrestling side of things.

Added to these superstars you have veterans such as Kane and the Undertaker, and you have a recipe for success.

Although it can be said Raw is packed with more Superstars, it can also be said that Smackdown has better WRESTLERS.

I think it will be very interesting to see how Smackdown will develop in the next year. It has the wrestlers and good entertainers also, and because of this, I definitely feel Smackdown has the ability to match, if not outperform, Raw.

Aston Villa: Was the Season a Success or a Failure?

Some Aston Villa fans will no doubt be disgusted with how Aston villa have thrown away a possible Champions League position, however, other Aston Villa fans will be delighted with the progress made by their side this season.

Okay, let me start by saying I understand how Villa fans will be disgusted with how our club went from being eight points ahead of Arsenal to eight points behind but what most people don't think about is how Aston Villa fans would have dreamed of being only eight points behind Arsenal at this stage in the season.

When you consider Arsenal finished 36 points ahead of Aston Villa in the 2004-05 Premier League season, then this season is a real success.

When you look at how young stars such as James Milner, Ashley Young, and Gabriel Agbonlahor have propelled to greatness this season this should fill you with hope. If these players are capable of playing so good at such a high standard this early into their lives imagine how brilliant they could be in three or four years time.

This season is just the beginning of transforming Aston Villa from a mid-table team into a major force in the Premier League. All Villa need to do is sign a quality striker who will be able to convert chances created by Young and Milner into goals.

Yes we do have a very capable striker in Agbonlahor but if he gets an injury I don't have confidence in Carew and Heskey to convert enough chances to make Villa a major force.

I praise the work Martin O'Neill has done since becoming Villa manager but fans must also recognise a man who has made the potential of Villa a reality. This man is chairman Randy Lerner. Without Lerner having faith to invest his cash in quality players Villa wouldn't have a hope of achieving their potential.

Overall I think this season should be viewed as a success. In the last year Aston Villa have gone from a being a mid-placed team into a major force and I have no doubt this season is the the first of many happy seasons at Villa under the Lerner-O'Neill partnership.

Dead and Gone: What Happened ECW

The heading of this article sums up what everybody feels about ECW at the moment. When it was announced that the WWE was bringing back ECW as a new brand back in 2006 I think everybody was excited about the prospects.

We all couldn't wait to see the violent, brutal, and bloody matches which became synonymous with the letters ECW. We couldn't wait to see the show that made men such as RVD, Sabu, Mick Foley, and Terry funk famous.

Instead we got the complete opposite. ECW became a show where WWE sent superstars to improve and enhance their skills or else send old wrestlers, who were no longer needed, to rot in the shadows of ECW.

At the beginning the WWE bought back some old ECW favorites to help boost its appeal, superstars such as, RVD, Sabu, and Sandman. They also boosted impressive roster of ECW wrestlers with established wrestlers such as Kurt Angle.

However a year into ECW wrestlers such as the Sandman and Sabu were gone. Even ECW founder Paul Heyman left as he disagreed with how the WWE ran ECW.

I have watched ECW disintegrate from a brand with huge potential to a pathetic excuse of a WWE brand.

It is now a brand where WWE wants to send new talent to learn and develop skills but at the same time leave good talent rot such as Christian and Jack Swagger.

I understand why WWE wants a place to send its talent to develop and learn new skills but what upsets me most is the fact that the WWE has the ruin the reputation of a once famous wrestling industry to satisfy its own needs.

Thanks for reading feel free to leave comments.

What Next For Friday Night Smackdown Following The Draft?

In the aftermath of the draft, Smackdown has the potential to take over as the most exciting WWE show on TV. This is obvious when you see just how talented the roster available to the show is. It includes superstars such as Edge, CM Punk, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, Jeff Hardy, and Shelton Benjamin.

We are all aware that Smackdown has been left without a world champion in the aftermath of the draft. Some people would see this as catastrophic for the brand; however, others and myself see this as an opportunity. It is obvious to all of us after Backlash that Smackdown will have a world champion, but we're not sure who that could be.

Realistically, one of two men will be Smackdown's world champion: Edge and CM Punk. Edge will be coming up against John Cena at Backlash in a Last Man Standing match, and both men will likely beat each other so badly in this bout that it could finish a draw. Afterward, CM Punk will sprint to the ring and cash in his money in the bank on a helpless John Cena.

The following week on Smackdown, Edge and CM Punk could start a feud that could continue all the way up to Summerslam in a ladder match. This is a very realistic finish to a very successful feud, as it is new and both these superstars are exciting in the ring and on the mic. Also, a ladder match would be a ironic way to finish this feud, as both men have spiraled to success because of ladder matches.

Another possible feud which would be a joy to watch would be Jericho and Jeff Hardy. Although Jeff is not good on the mic, Jericho could spend the time criticizing Hardy for doing what the fans want to see and not what is good for him. This could turn into an entertaining feud for all fans, as the quality of wrestling would be high.

Overall, the prospects for Smackdown following the draft are very good, and I have high hopes.

As this is my first article, feel free to comment.
