Auburn's Robert Dunn Goes from D-1 to "Major League"

Have you heard?

Maybe "ya ain't heard" just yet, to quote former Auburn Tigers wide receiver and punt returner Robert Dunn's latest song, "Goose and Patron."

The former college football star has made promises to make you not only "like it" but "love it" as he's wriggled his way into the music industry to go from gridiron power to hip-hop sensation.

Now you get it; Dunn has decided to put a possible professional sports career on temporary hold to have his shot in the music world.

Recently, Dunn teamed up with Quentin Groves’ music label, Major League Entertainment, and expects to achieve what he describes as one of his "ultimate goals": expressing himself to the world through song.

"As a youngster, I had major dreams," Dunn said. "I went from D-1 ball to being 'Major League.'"

With songs like “Rain Dance,” “Goose and Patron,” and “Last Breath,” he has captivated young music lovers across South Alabama and Georgia.

Over his four years at Auburn, the now-22-year-old "DunnCity" scored four touchdowns and had 44 receptions for 485 receiving yards.

And while putting up those numbers, the Augusta, Ga., native managed to find time for the studio as well, where he cleared his mind with lyrics and beats.

For more information or to hear some of Dunn's latest songs, check him out at www.myspace.com/dunncity. Ringtones are also available on the site.

Auburn Tigers' Gus Malzahn in a Nutshell

OK Auburn fans, let's finally face it. Auburn's 2008 football season was more than just a little shaky; it was rough.

It was predicted by sports experts, fans and bloggers that the Tigers would win the 2008 SEC West Championship and then go on to win the SEC Championship, but weren't we all surprised.

When all is said and done about the 2008 season, it becomes clear that the defense played a huge roll in carrying the team through the first four wins of the season, scoring almost as much as the offense did. With all of the extra work the defense put in, it is expected that they probably became mentally and physically tired of the outlook of the team's winning approach.

Don't be confused; Auburn had (and still has) a tremendous amount of talent and potential both on offense and defense. The heartbreak of last season all boils down to the offensive spread. It never worked. Not once did Tony Franklin's praised playbook work for the offensive players or anyone else to that matter.

This year will be different. With Gus Malzahn on board as Auburn’s offensive coordinator and the defense continuing to become more powerful, Auburn Tigers will go all the way; the Auburn flag will wave!

Malzahn is said to be a genius win it comes to knowing how the offensive side of football should operate. His ability to come onto the scene and transform teams has been one of the most visible highlights of his coaching career.

In 2005, he helped led the University of Arkansas to a 10-4 record including the SEC West Championship. Malzahn was named 2006 National Offensive Coordinator of the Year by www.rivals.com. He also helped the University of Tulsa become first in the nation for total offense in 2007 and second in 2008.

Not only is Malzahn fully qualified to be Auburn’s offensive coordinator, but he has the ability and the smarts to bring noticeable change in the way the Auburn Tigers play football. 2009 is the year of Auburn football!

Auburn Football: Tez Doolittle Top Pick In the NFL Draft 2009

As Terrell Owens would say, "Getcha popcorn ready" because this is the year that the underdogs, the players least expected, the players who have not received much publicity or praise, will rise.

Millions of fans from across the nation will gather with friends and families to witness the future of football change before their eyes. It's about that time again. On April 25-26, the NFL Draft 2009 will occur.

For former Auburn defensive player Tez Doolittle, it's his year for the spotlight; it's his time to shine.

While playing for the Auburn Tigers, Doolittle demonstrated himself as the ultimate man hunter, tackling his prey with full force at ever chance he received.

During his college football career with the Auburn Tigers, Doolittle suffered injuries that could have stopped his entire career, but he seems to still be pressing forward awaiting draft day.

Although anyone would agree that Doolittle has talent, he was not selected for the NFL Scouting Combine.

Every year, a select few draft-eligible players are invited to the NFL Scouting Combine where officials from each NFL team evaluate the players for possible drafting.

As anyone could imagine, being one of those select few is hard to come by, even if your college career performances were outstanding.

Former Auburn players like Sen'Derrick Marks, Tyronne Green, and Jerraud Powers have been deemed by many to earn a spot in the draft and were all invited to the NFL Scouting Combine.

Despite not receiving an invite to Combine, Doolittle showed determination at Auburn’s Pro-day, where skills and effort caught the attention of many. I would not be surprised if Doolittle is among the top picks for the draft. Only time will tell.
