Manchester United were the first big movers in the January transfer market in the English Premier League. Manchester United landed the Serbian pair Zoran Tošić and Adem Ljajić on the 2nd of January 2009. The combined fee is said to be £16.3m.

Zoran Tošić is a Serbian left-winger but can play either side. He has 12 caps for the Serbian national team. Tošić signs from Partizan. Tošić will be seen to be the long-term replacement for legendary Ryan Giggs. Tošić will wear the number 14 jersey. His nickname is Bambi, not due to his soft nature but his lean build.

Adem Ljajić who also comes from Partizan will be loaned back in a 12 month loan deal. Ljajić is a 17-year old attacking midfielder, he has been nicknamed "Little Kaka." Ljajić has made two appearances for the Serbian under 21 team.

With Nemanja Vidić being a real hit at Old Trafford, his fellow countrymen will be keen to follow in his footsteps.
