49ers Draft Prediction

Dave FinocchioSenior Writer IApril 20, 2007
IconI've listed the Niner's 2007 draft picks below (teams can't trade
compensatory selection). Also, here's the link to the NFL draft trade
value chart (Billy Beane would probably eat this thing alive - but it
seems like it's the standard these days).

1       11 (11) - 1250 points
2       10 (42)  - 480 points
3       12 (76)  - 200 points
3       34 (97)  - untradable
4       5 (104)  - 100 points
4       11 (110) - 80 points
4       25 (124) - 60 points
4       36 (135) - untradable
5       10 (147) - 35 points
6       12 (186) - 15 points

I think the 49er's should take the best player available with the
first pick - probably a linebacker or defensive tackle (willis, branch
or okoye - whoever they have higher on their board - as one of them
will definitely be there). If they really have a liking for one a
particular receiver (think Jarrett or Bowe) then I could see them
packaging the 42nd pick with the 76th pick to grab a very late first
rounder. The more realistic scenario is that they keep their second
round pick and select the best receiver that's fallen to them (Sidney
Rice, Craig Davis, Steve Smith). They'll also almost certainly package a
couple of the fourth rounders in exchange for another third rounder.

1st round: Branch
late first round: Jarrett
third round and above: linebackers
