Every year has its breakout players, whether it be a breakout star, all-star, starter, or role player.

The point is that there is always a group of players that redefine the way that they are viewed by fans, owners and coaches.

I am taking it upon myself to recognize this year's Dorrell Wright, a guy who will redefine himself as a legitimate starter after previously being recognized as a solid bench player.

I think Omri Casspi is going to be the Dorrell Wright of the 2011-12 NBA season.

Last year he played small forward for the Kings, he started 27 of the 77 games he played and averaged around 24 minutes per game.

The Kings rival the Wizards for the most selfish team in the NBA award. The Kings had eight players in their rotation who all wanted the ball in their hands to score (Beno Udrih, Tyreke Evans, DeMarcus Cousins, Francisco Garcia, Marcus Thornton, Omri Casspi, Jason Thompson, and Donte Greene), and their best passer was their best scorer (Evans).

To be honest, Casspi was not able to play his game.

Of course he was the gritty player on both ends that he always has been, but he was rarely set up for baskets, and he was rarely given the opportunity to score (7.7 FGA per game).

Casspi was just another mouth to feed on a Sacramento team that still lacks someone who is better than Evans at passing and playing point guard. In fact, they added three scorers this offseason.

Casspi's move to the Cavaliers will put him in the best situation for him to thrive in the NBA.

To start, the Cavaliers have had their eye on Casspi since the 2009 NBA draft.

Their interest in Casspi obviously did not fade over time. The skills and attitude that the Israeli small forward brings to the table are still very much admired and important to Cavs management, especially head coach Byron Scott.

Casspi is an incredibly active player who hustles, runs the floor, shoots the three-ball effectively, slashes and rebounds well. Casspi also has great size for his position (6'9'').

After a recent practice, Scott had this to say regarding Casspi, “We need some guys like that. I always put it this way: We don’t need Chihuahuas, we don’t need poodles, we don’t need German Shepherds. We need pit bulls and it’s good to have a few of them. I think he is one of them."

Scott is big on defensive intensity, which explains his love for Casspi's game.

Casspi is also a perfect fit for Scott's new, "organized chaos" offense.

The offense is all about playing a run-and-gun style with tons of freedom, much different from Scott's usual highly technical Princeton offense.

Casspi is an open-court player who loves to run, and he is now being asked to do exactly that.

Oh, and that point guard situation he had in Sacramento, or lack thereof? He now has the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, Kyrie Irving, as a running mate.

Irving is a true point guard, and he will certainly get Casspi more involved in the offense in ways that he has not yet experienced.

Irving and Casspi spent most of the last preseason game on the court together and Casspi wasn't to shabby; he lead the team in scoring (18 points), and only missed three shots (8-11).

The opening regular season game was a struggle, but Casspi was much better in the Cavs' second game in Detroit.

Aside from Casspi getting set up more often, he will also have the opportunity to be looked to as a scoring option. Right now he is the second option on the Cavaliers (third including Irving), and he is by far the best scoring option they have on the wing.

There is no doubt that Jamison, Irving and anybody on the Cavs roster would love to see a guy on the perimeter put up double figures for a change.

Casspi will certainly receive more playing time, shots and freedom to play his game on the Cavaliers.

Casspi will finally be given the situation he needs, on a team that needs him.

Expect Casspi to make a huge leap this year and be respected as a legitimate starter by the end of the season.

When the desires of a player directly match the desires of a team, only good things will happen.
