The quarterfinal draw of this season's FA Cup has just been made, and it brings up some very interesting encounters.

Who says the romance of the FA Cup is dead, when Bristol Rovers sit proudly in the quarters? When Barnsley, whose young journeyman side beat Liverpool at Anfield, are rewarded with a home tie with another EPL giant, Chelsea?

Maybe the the FA Cup is not geared towards the big four anymore, but who cares?

I, for one, don't care if Liverpool rest a few players and get beaten by Barnsley. I love it!

Barnsley will tell you it didn't matter who was playing for Liverpool that day (and it was certainly no reserve side), they beat Liverpool!

So the draw says the following...

Sheffield United or Middlesbrough vs Cardiff City

Manchester United vs Portsmouth

Bristol Rovers vs West Bromwich Albion

Barnsley v Chelsea

The draw guarantees a football league side in the last four, and it could even be lowly Bristol Rovers who are completing an amazing season for football in Bristol (Bristol City are pushing for promotion to the EPL).

I doubt we have seen the last of the upsets, and I for one am looking forward to four great quarterfinals in their own right! Who are ya? Who are ya?

It would be nice if it was otherwise, but I can't help thinking we will see a Manchester Utd v Chelsea final come May, in a repeat of last years borefest.

Hopefully they will draw eachother in the semi, or get knocked out unexpectedly.

No disrespect to Cardiff but I believe the final being back at Wembley has restored some credibility to the competition. It would be great to see a team other than the usual four to win the F.A cup for a change, however if Portsmouth lose at Old Trafford I cant see it happening.
Pie in the sky maybe but how would anyone else feel about the English and Scottish F.A getting together to combine their respective cup competitions? One year the final held at Wembley, the next year at Hampden.

I think combining the League Cups would be great!

I think it would be a class competition but if England can't play games overseas, I can't condone such a tournament.

Another one for the future maybe.
