Miami Heat superstar LeBron James may be considered to be basketball royalty to many, but that didn't matter to Orlando Magic guard Quentin Richardson on Wednesday night. During the Magic's 104-100 preseason victory, Q-Rich got into a shoving match with King James.
After LeBron hit a nifty step-back jumper over Richardson, James started to backpedal down the court. In the process he inadvertently made contact with Q-Rich. Then, when Richardson continued to impede his progress, LeBron threw a little shove his way.
This clearly didn't sit well with Richardson, as he unloaded on LeBron once the Magic reached the offensive end. LeBron certainly didn't look happy about the unsportsmanlike push by Q-Rich, but he was able to keep his cool and refrain from retaliating.
While I suppose Richardson ultimately got the last laugh as the Magic staged a comeback and won the game, LeBron was the far more effective player, dropping 27 points in just 30 minutes. The game was little more than a tune-up for the regular season, so I doubt King James will be too upset about the loss.
LeBron may not be the type of player that is going to get into too many altercations, but Richardson may want to keep his head up the next time the Magic play the Heat. Q-Rich is giving up a couple inches in height and about 20 lbs. to King James, so I'm not sure that's a fight he truly wants to get into.
