The Philadelphia Eagles currently stand at 6-8, which is a massive disappointment. Going into the season, you probably would've been surprised if, with two games left in the season, the Eagles only had 10 wins.
The fact of the matter is that Philly has consistently found ways to lose close games and blow leads in the fourth quarter an inexcusable amount of times this year. However, the Eagles, with all their struggles, are riding a two-game winning streak and have a chance to get into the playoffs.
Let's for a second assume the Eagles win-out and finish the season at 8-8. All they would need is for the Giants to lose next week to the Jets, and then have the Giants turn around and beat the Cowboys to close out the season. This would put all three teams at 8-8, with the Eagles getting the playoff bid.
I know this scenario seems like it's unlikely, but in all honesty, I see the Jets winning against the Giants next week, as they'll look to rebound from the beating that the Eagles just laid on them.
If Philadelphia can get past Dallas this week, and win at home against Washington, they'd really have a 50/50 chance to make the postseason.
A lot needs to fall into place, but if the Eagles can somehow manage to finagle their way into the playoffs, I certainly would not want to face them.
Against the Jets, the offense was clicking on all cylinders. The defense was sharp and now leads the NFL in sacks. Philly is an enigma, plain and simple.
At the end of the day, they Eagles probably won't get in, but the fact that after everything they've been through this year that they have a chance is amazing, and I expect them to at least win-out to give themselves a shot.
The Eagles were my preseason Super Bowl pick, so I'm still holding onto hope that they can get it done and make a miracle run to the championship. Wishful thinking? Probably, but it'll sure be exciting if it happens.
