There's been a lot of speculation concerning forward Andrei Kirilenko this season, despite him declining since his early years with the Utah Jazz.
Sportando tweeted on Monday that Kirilenko was set to leave CSKA Moskow and join the New Jersey Nets on a multi-year deal.
However, Fred Kerber of The New York Post made things more clear when he talked to Kirilenko's agent Marc Fleisher, who said, "Not true. I haven't negotiated anything. Not saying there is no interest, but I spoke to Andrei an hour ago and nothing is done."
That doesn't mean Kirilenko won't sign with the Nets.
In fact, Sportando later tweeted, "I didn't say the deal is done, I wrote that AK-47 will join Nets. It is matter of time. He has till 9th of Jan. to leave CSKA Moscow."
Kirilenko was a five-category monster when he first started off with the Jazz, but he's not the same player he once was at 30 years of age and injuries have caused him to miss games.
Would Andrei Kirilenko be a good add for the Nets?
Last season, in 64 games, Kirilenko averaged 11.7 points on 46.7 percent shooting, 5.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.2 blocks.
The fact of the matter is, although Kirilenko isn't a star like he once was, he's still valuable in the league because he can contribute in a multitude of ways.
His veteran presence on a Nets team still searching for itself would be a nice boost, albeit not a season-changing one.
This could also change the status of Kris Humphries with the Nets, who hasn't been re-signed yet despite contract talks.
