Dwight Howard , NBA All Star Game

As I sat watching the 2008 Slam Dunk Contest, I expected another average and overrated competition.

It turned out to be the exact opposite.

Dwight Howard was the eventual winner and had the best dunk of the night by far.  He took the ball, hit it off of the back of the hoop and did a 360 while almost hitting his head on the rim and dunked it.

It was probably the best dunk I have seen since the Vince Carter between-the-legs dunk in 2000 (my first dunk contest).

It was not the only great dunk of the night, however.  Gerald Green blew out a candle on a cupcake, while in the air on the side of the rim, without knocking it over.

It was a great night as Jason Kapono also went on to win the three-point contest.

I thought it ended up being a much better night than many expected.

Superman himself won the Dunk Contest.

  1. He didn't do a 360. He didn't even do a 180 he threw it off of the back of the back board and caught it in the air. All he did was turn his body 90 degrees. Even though he almost hit his head. It was an awesome dunk. But people like you shouldn't write about it.

  2. there was no 360. u sure u were watcing???
