Week 16 NFL Picks: Rex Ryan's Efforts to Fuel Jets Engines Will Fall Short
There will be no punches pulled. nor will there be anything left to chance as the New York Jets play for their lives on Saturday. It will all be a fruitless endeavor.
The Jets and Giants come together in a contest that will go a long way to determine who holds sway in the neighborhood. Oh, and it also has tremendous playoff implications. If those types of things inspire you.
That doesn't mean Rex Ryan is going to change things up. Conor Orr of The Star-Ledger reports on the Jets preparations of this all-important game.
The symbolism in what Ryan wanted to convey is not that hard to understand. The picture that emblazoned on every playbook this week was that of Calvin Pace killing Eli Manning from the blind side during the their preseason game in 2010.
Pace is quoted in the report, and delves into what it all means. I guess, do it again, hit him again. But they do that every week, depending on who we’re playing. If they can find a good picture they’ll put it on there. So I just happened to get chosen this week.
It's just a touch deeper than that Mr. Pace. Ryan is no fool and knows that there is just one man that can beat him this weekend, and that's Eli Manning.
Manning is having a great season this year and is driving the Giants offense in remarkable ways. The Giants find that the offense is the only thing they can truly count on nowadays.
I am putting my faith in Manning and the form that he has shown this season. This is going to be a close game that comes down to a late drive. I will place all confidence in Manning getting that done over the Jets stopping him.
The Jets will infuse the ethos of kill the quarterback, but the quarterback is about to kill them.
